  1. P.S. I didn't realize you were using Lori from Tropical Maui Weddings too. Awesome! I love her!
  2. For our guest, we are really only planning two events: a Welcome to the Island BBQ and the Molokini Snorkel Tour. The majority of our guest want to spend their time snorkeling while in Maui so it worked out. We practically have the whole boat booked! Everyone has their own agendas and I want them to feel free to do what they'd like while there. Even though I'd love to plan more for everyone, it's alot of work coordinating so many people! I put in our OOT Newsletter a list of activities that they can do while on the island and I will leave it up to them. Not to add to the decisions but there is also kayaking/snorkel tours that look cool too!

  4. I got mine from Face Values online: Fruit Of The Earth 100% Aloe Vera Gel 2 Oz

So I ended up rallying and doing my own!
  6. Hello BDW brides! I wanted to share some info regarding the size charts of the Watters dresses. I promised my wonderful bridesmaid that I would post this rant for other brides to see, so that you can save some money on possible cost of alterations. We ordered a size 6 based on their size charts. Here is her rant! "Please let other brides/bridesmaids know that my dress is true to size. The measurement chart was way off. It almost had me buying a size 8. I'm normally a 4 and I think a 4 would still have been slightly big, but my point is that the measurement chart is wrong! $85 just to sew in boob padding and have my dress taken in. I wonder how many other people have had to make alterations because the dress they ordered was too big. I'm pissed at Watters." We ordered the bridesmaid Watters dresses through House of Brides, which had the best prices (including free shipping) and good turn around. We used the Watter's website for size references and tried on the dresses at a local bridal boutique (which carry size 10dresses for trying on). I hope this info will help other brides buying their dresses on-line. P.S. My bridesmaid's dresses from Watter are lovely and look fabulous on my girls.
  7. I second Hips & Curves. It's a fantastic place to find plus sized sexy wear.
  8. Try Bras, Panties, Lingerie & More - HerRoom. They have a ton of plus sized shapewear besides Spanx. Their Spanx were also cheaper than Lane Bryant. I purchased mine through Her Room, and they had fast shipping.
  9. Wind never even crossed my mind! Great. Now I'm worried again. Kidding. Yep. Mine is flowy material, and it does show more of the bumps! But I wanted something light rather than structured, because I didn't want to die in the heat. Spanx really makes a difference. I'd recommend getting a pair to wear while trying on dresses.
  10. Chunky Chicks Unite!! FYI, I got my Spanx yesterday. What a total difference it made with the dress on! The material of my dress is clingy and I was starting to regret my decision, but now it's totally working for me! Yay! Thank god for spandex!
  11. I'm game. I'll do anything to keep the Maui Forum more active!! Oct 14, 2009: Deb + John @ Kalaeokai'a Estate + Five Palms Restaurant May 22, 2010: Huey + Isaac @ Honua Kai Lani + Spago
  12. I think airfare, hotel, car and food will eat up half of your budget for four people. My family is all staying in my folk's timeshare condos for one week, which helped us with the cost of staying. July is a high season for travel due to summer vacations so the prices might be higher. We are having a small wedding of 30 people including us and it's costing just over 10K, including travel costs for two. 3K alone is being spent on flowers and the photographer. I'm not going over the top either with everything. I'm keeping it all very simple! I think you will have to decided which items are the most important to you and budget very carefully. Hardest part is trying not to go overboard with the details. Check the Hawaii board here for other Islands too. There are plenty of brides who are getting married in Hawaii and they have similar budgets.
  13. I'm not KLee, but an AHR is an "At Home Reception." It's so you can have a party with all the folks that couldn't come or weren't invited. We had a number of folks dropped out of going to our wedding due to financial reasons. It's a hard time right now with folks getting laid off (even my fiance). It is the risk you take when you plan a DW. The bright side is that the wedding ends up being a much more intimate affair, so you get to spend time with everyone! Plus, it's much, much easier to plan and you won't be so stressed. Too bad about your MOH, but her health is very important during a pregnancy. Plan on having an AHR later and then everyone that had to cancel can be included! P.S. We are getting married in Maui 4 days apart from one another!
  14. Wow. Great review. Loved all the details. You looked amazing and so happy. Everything seemed to have a special touch to it. I especially appreciated your bouquet. It was gorgeous. I can't believe you brought all your table linens and such!
  15. I read every word of your first post. I hope it works out, and with all the positive vibes coming from all the lovely BDW brides it's destined to! Sending out good vibes, sending out good vibes....

I'm not doing all that much realistically, and the fiance probably STILL thinks I'm going overboard all the time. Men really don't know how much detail goes into a wedding do they? I wanted to save money and time and get married by the justice of the peace, but, nooooo, John wanted to have the whole shooting match... and guess who's doing most of the details? LOL It will be worth it, I agree.

Once I hit 150 posts, I didn't have a problem downloading anything. Deb
  18. Yay! Another Maui bride. Welcome!
  19. There is a website called "herroom" which had some strapless shapeware. One which was this long tube that covered the boobs down to mid-calf. I can't post the specific one because of my work's dang firewall (says it's Adult content. lol). But you can find lots of shapewear from Bras, Panties, Lingerie & More - HerRoom. You may find what you are looking for. I did!
  20. I saw this estate on the Maui wedding blog I posted in this forum. It's also called Pua Le'a Estate. Here is a link to a wedding there. It has more pictures. My Maui Wedding: Lisa & Lindsay's Lush, Opulent, Dinner Party for 50 Wedding
  21. Those were fantastic photos! Everything looked amazing and you looked so beautiful. I got all teary seeing the pics of when you and your husband first see each other on the bridge.
  22. Because my ethnicity is mostly chinese, and my fiance's is mostly polish, we have a pair of wooden chopsticks with a name tag with the polish eagle on them as our place card holders! I wonder if anyone will "get" the joke. lol I think you could use almost anything for a place card holder. I like the idea I've seen of the mini maracas with a name tag. What's your theme?
  23. Hi Huey, Yay! to more posts in the Maui section! I don't think you have to worry. Most folks here on BDW go to Mexico or the Caribbean it seems, so it may not come up on a BDW search. I've seen the Sugarman Estate being used by other brides in other forums. Heck, just google the Estate and you'll get plenty of pictures of weddings there, and from what I've seen it will be a beautiful setting for your wedding! Heck my own Wedding coordinator just had a wedding there, and a few more: Tropical Maui Weddings - The Blog! I've never been to the Spago in Maui, but Wolfgang Puck ain't a gazillionaire for nothing! If there's booze, food, and a view of the ocean, it will be an amazing dinner! Don't worry, I don't think you have much to be scared of. I think anything in Maui will be fantastic. Deb

I also want to do the pictures with our 'furbabies' holding signs that say: 'Will you marry our mommy today?' Thanks amygirl! I'm getting mine from an Etsy seller (ErinBorges) if you wish to check them out for yourself.
  25. 1) I don't know what I want... which is really surprising. I'm seeing a trend here. LOL 2) I'm getting him Fleur De Lis cufflinks (cause he's my Boyscout), a Bulgari watch, and some funky orange socks that have "In case You Get Cold Feet" embroidered on them.
