  1. Welcome, fellow Calgarian! Sorry to hear about all your struggles so far. I'm sure you'll find lots of information on here to help you out.
  2. You've done an amazing job with everything!! I hope your day is fantastic! p.s. My MOH wore the same bridesmaid's dress as yours, only hers was royal blue. She really liked it and it looked fantastic!!
  3. Congratulations!! It's awesome that everything turned out, despite the location change. You look gorgeous and I love the color of your bridesmaid's dresses! Cheers!
  4. Congratulations!!! It's only been 2 months since ours so I'm hoping it will come this summer.

  6. Awesome - thanks for all the suggestions ladies!! Guess it's time to go shopping
  7. I was wondering if anyone could recommend a good quality flat iron that won't destroy my hair. I currently have one that I believe is a ceramic straightener, however, my hair never seems to get as silky smooth as when my hairdresser does it (and I bought it for cheap at Winners). I keep seeing "chi" ones everywhere. Any thoughts?
  8. Sounds fun! I would love to come - although the 19th doesn't work for me either.
  9. I would say the best thing I did was search on-line for beachy wedding favors and OOT bag stuff and then scour e-bay for those items for a much cheaper price than I would have paid at an on-line store. It was time-consuming but well worth it.
  10. Those are cute!! And there's a Shoe Company right by my house....hmmmmm LOL oh DH would wonder why in the world I would need another pair of flip flops.
  11. Well I guess I can join this thread too! I have to admit, coming down off the "high" of planning our wedding has at times made me feel really sad! There are a few things I wish we had done differently, but our week in Cuba and our wedding day were fantastic. Now real life is setting in. DH is a teacher and currently works outside of the city that we live in. He applied and interviewed in our city and elsewhere throughout the province and now we are waiting to hear back. It's been really tough on him working so far away from home (highway driving in the middle of winter in a sad ol' jeep takes its toll) and I think he needs a change. I myself would be happy leaving this city and being in a smaller town. Once we find out where he will be working next year, the next step is saving money for a house as we are renters currently. It sucks not paying toward anything (a mortgage) and I'd love to have our own house with a yard. And also I'm trying to convince DH that we need a honeymoon next summer (2010). Currently my thought is a backpacking trip through Europe as I've only been there once before and only for 3 weeks. We shall see. Everything costs money!
  12. I would bring one - I only used mine a few times while we were in Cuba, once for straightening my hair and once to charge my camera battery. It's a great "just in case" item.
  13. I remembered I found a picture of a map and I put it on our wedding website. I don't know if you can enlarge it if you save it to your computer....it comes up blurry on mine when I try to do that. But, I'm no computer expert.
  14. That's what we've been doing for those cheques with DH's last name. It's kind of a pain but it's ok! Looking forward to receiving the certificate and being able to change my name though!
  15. Yikes imagine if that were true? Cuba is super easy (from my experience) with respect to paperwork required for the legal ceremony. Now I'm just waiting for the marriage certificate...!! Only 3 more months I think

I have little patience, but I was a very good girl LOL Congratulations!! 4pm is perfect as Julie said. It is the last wedding of the day and you're not in the heat of the early afternoon sun. How exciting!!
  17. We gave our reception decorations (luminaries, centerpieces and flower petals) to our WC the morning of our wedding and she arranged for them to be set up for us for our reception. I would just let your WC know about your decorations when you meet up with her initially once you get to the resort. I can't see why they would make you do it yourself

Then he answered the door and started talking to some other guy while he was massaging me. SO WEIRD! We were both relieved when it was over LOL very bizaare. I was hoping to do a couples massage as I think it was included in one of the wedding packages, but after all I'm hearing I'm glad we didn't! DH has never had a professional massage and if that was his first experience I think he would wonder about my love of massages and think I was some sort of weirdo.
  19. Answer: The Big Lebowski Next Quote: "Oh, Eddie... If I woke up tomorrow with my head sewn to the carpet, I wouldn't be more surprised than I am now."
  20. We did ours bright and early at 7am the day after our wedding. The beach was empty of other guests and we got some good light from the sunrise. Then we had to hurry back to our room as we were having breakfast in bed at 9am LOL
  21. LOL I have to hijack for a moment. Connie, my SIL had a HORRIBLE massage as well. She said the guy started massaging her abdomen (which I've never heard of) and then had her lying on the table on her stomach with her head hanging over the table (so it was at an angle to her body). She could feel the blood rushing to her head and afterwards felt ill. Poor girl. Turned me off from wanting to get one. Very awkward.
  22. I wore nice jeans and a cute top and as soon as I arrived was made to put on an ugly sarong as a dress and a hat with stupid lights and flowers all over it LOL
  23. I emailed Yaly before we arrived and she said they didn't have pictures of the flowers available, but my options would be tropical flowers or roses. I brought some pictures of the flowers I had in mind, and asked for tropical flowers with pink and orange. This was my bouquet, which arrived about 30 mins before the ceremony! We also ordered boutinneires (sp?) for DH and his best man, a bouquet for my MOH and wrist corsages for our moms. The boutinneires and wrist corsages were basic white roses and my MOH's bouquet was basically a smaller version of mine. I hear you Julie about the ribbon LOL it was a little much but I didn't mind. I think my mom "lost" her wrist corsage somewhere between the ceremony and reception. It was huge. Almost the length of her forearm!
  24. I was told that my options were tropical flowers or roses. I requested tropical flowers with lots of pink and orange and this was my bouquet which I really liked
  25. I wore my hair down and curled (with extensions). It was a little annoying with my hair blowing in my face at times and getting stuck to my lipgloss (hate that!!) and there are a few pictures where my hair looks a little crazy! However, I did love the concept of having my hair down, especially since I couldn't find any updo's that I liked. In the end, I'm glad I wore it down.
