  1. I had that concern too - the last time I tried on my dress at the store, the owner tied it super tight! I could barely breathe. On my wedding day, my mom and maid of honor didn't tie it as tight so I was pretty comfortable. The worst part for me was sitting down at dinner as the corset really started squeezing my ribs after awhile....good thing we danced after dinner instead to loosen me up again! You'll be fine!!
  2. A couple of my faves: our 9 month old flower girl tuckered out after the ceremony and tucked in like a little turtle with her dad: And a couple of lovely gentlemen right beside our ceremony site:
  3. I hope your day is everything you imagined! Can't wait to hear all about it when you get back!
  4. Ok here's my favorite: when he's eating, he tends to make a noise in the back of his throat, kind of like a "mmmm" noise but it also comes out as a moan sometimes LOL I call it his "yummy pizza noise" as he used to make it when eating pizza but now it's whenever he hasn't really eaten lunch so he's starving and eating his supper really quickly. It's hilarious because he has no idea that he does it.
  5. Not traditional, but I love the Sarah Mclachlan "Song for a Winter's Night". Also it's a huge joke in our family, but I always bust out my parent's copy of "Kenny Rogers Christmas" - the whole album brings me back to my childhood lol. Also, love Boney M. My mom used to play it non-stop when we were kids!
  6. Congratulations! We stopped by there briefly on one of our excursions to pick up/drop off other tourists (we were at Playa Pesquero) and it looks like a very nice resort.
  7. My only suggestions would be to have your mom, MOH, someone attend your meeting with Yaly in addition to your DH, so that they are aware of your special details. I had my mom come and she helped me remember a few questions and finalize a few details that (let's face it) my DH wouldn't know about. Recruit a few guests to observe the decorating of your ceremony location and reception location who know what you envision. People will be more than happy to help make your day perfect! Last of all, enjoy!! It will go by in an instant so try to breathe it all in
  8. I had a binder with our travel information, insurance, correspondence with my WC and pictures of flowers and other details that I brought with us when we met with our WC at the resort. I just kept a little notebook in my purse for day to day things I wanted to keep track of and bookmarked websites that I thought were helpful.
  9. I don't know if you can pre-book your excursions. We also arrived later in the evening and weren't able to book our excursions till the next morning. DH and I were meeting with Yaly during the orientation, so the guests that attended the orientation provided us with the info needed for the excursions. I believe certain activities run on certain days of the week and the catamaran/lobster lunch/swimming with the dolphins was 100CUC/person. The jeep safari was a bit less (60 CUC).
  10. Just an FYI - the catamaran may be your best bet for a group that size. We really enjoyed it. We also did the jeep safari with my parents which was super fun. DH and his best man did the deep sea fishing but the water was sooo choppy that day - his best man was heaving over the side of the boat. They ended up coming back to the resort early that day. Too bad because DH was so excited to try it!
  11. I believe it is 3...my advice would be to book asap for both your excursions and your restaurants so you can get what you want.

That seems to make him listen (maybe just the change in pitch) LOL
  13. Hi ladies! DH and I are planning our belated honeymoon in the spring. We have booked 3 nights in Paris and then are planning on traveling south to Nice, Monaco and Cannes before heading back up to Paris to go home. I'm just wondering if you have recommendations for any B&B's, wineries, and other cool things to see on our way to Nice. Thanks in advance
  14. My flower girl was 9 months at our wedding. Her mom was my MOH and what we did was have her dad "walk" with her down the aisle with her basket of petals. In the end, she wanted to walk by herself and so he held the basket in front of her while helping her walk...it was adorable, seeing as how she wasn't quite able to walk without assistance, but really marched along. He ended up throwing the petals himself and it was really cute. I think whatever you decide will be fine. Little kids make weddings so cute.
  15. I really recommend Blissful Bridal as well - I actually bought a bridesmaid's dress from there 4 years ago for my friend's wedding (back when it was located in the NE). My mom and I stumbled across it again when we were looking for my wedding dress in August of 2008 at the new Macleod Tr location. Tammy, the owner, remembered my friend whose wedding I was in - she actually has pictures of her brides behind the front counter and even pointed her out to me! She made the experience really fun and relaxing and did not push the sale at all. We tried the bridal salon over by Spence on Macleod Tr too and they were totally different. I almost felt like in order to get any service there, I should have walked in in a couture wedding dress lol I ordered all my OOT bag stuff online (yay Ebay!) and we did not have an AHR. Anyhow, great thread - I'm sure this will help a lot of brides to be.
  16. Oh thanks! I'm going to discuss with DH and perhaps ask one of the brides headed to PP if they would mind...I was wondering why my WC said "if you know someone coming to the resort, send the certificate along with them" - for $143.00 charge from DHL, it does seem easier/cheaper to have someone else drop it off personally.
  17. You don't need a marriage license - about 4 months after your wedding, Yaly will courier you your marriage certificate which you'll need to change your name in Canada. Hope that helps.
  18. Welcome to the forum, fellow Calgarian! Best of luck with all your planning.
  19. My step-dad cut my bracelet off minutes before the ceremony and cut my wrist along with it! DH forgot to remove his prior to the ceremony so he's got a neon green splash of color to go along with his outfit. We can always photoshop it out though.

Thanks MeganMarie, we only had 15 people total and were able to have a private beach reception. I don't think that should be a problem, unless someone else is getting married the same day as you and has requested the beach bbq. If you are planning a reception in one of the restaurants, your other option is to ask Yaly about sectioning off an area in the restaurant just for you and your guests. I know that they have done that for other weddings. That makes it a little more of a private affair.
  21. Congratulations and happy planning!
  22. Do any of you ladies know of an efficient and inexpensive way for me to send back my marriage certificate to Cuba? My WC said to send it back to be fixed -- the good news is, I have been able to change my name here at home -- nobody seems to look at the certificate once I tell them it is from Cuba... I think we should send it back to be corrected, however, we took the certificate to DHL last night and they told us it would cost $143.00 to send it back to Holguin....yikes!! I don't believe a company like Fed-Ex or UPS would send anything to Cuba as I believe they are American I'm wondering if Canada Post would work. I would just hate for it to get lost.
  23. Julie that's hilarious! I can't imagine.
