  1. I heard that too, from my travel agent. Which is interesting if it's not true, because that one point caused us so much grief! Julie, thanks for the offer on the dress, however, it is too light. Would've been sweet if it worked! Plus I am not sure of my MOH's size at the moment.
  2. I got mine from My Wedding Favors - Unique Wedding Favors - Bridal Shower Favors and they look like this: You can get them personalized (I didn't) and I think they are on the pricier side ($12USD each), however, they do ship to Canada and are really cute.

I haven't heard back from her yet so I'm not sure where it stands. If I talk to her before tomorrow and get her size (she recently had a baby), I will let you know!
  4. Connie, that's too funny. I'm sure my FI will change his mind a few more times before we leave. He is so cute because he just doesn't want to look like he's at a "beach party" because it's "not a beach party" LOL crazy guy. K'osh those dresses are lovely! My MOH will most likely end up with this one since in sapphire (I think when you click on the link it shows up as a fuschia color!): After Six Bridesmaid Style 6523: The Dessy Group However, she likes this style better but can only find it in purple, which just won't work: Alfred Angelo... Find the perfect Wedding Dress, Bridesmaid Dress, Prom Dress, Flower Girl Dress or Mother of the Bride Dress at Alfred Angelo. Her and I both prefer the second dress in terms of the style, however, we are limited as I said. I asked her to see if the bridal shop in Winnipeg could call other stores in Canada to see if they have the second dress in blue in her size on their rack to send to Winnipeg!! I don't know if that's a tall order or not, but we shall see. I think the first dress will be fine though, and at the end of the day, I'm paying for it and she only has to wear it for a day so she'll be ok
  5. I have my moments where I stress out! When we passed the 2 month mark, I freaked a bit for sure. My MOH emailed me to tell me she thinks she found a dress. She's not crazy about the style but the color is what I want (royal blue). Because we waited so long before looking for dresses for her, we can't order a dress from a bridal shop anymore so she is forced to buy something off the rack which is limiting. However, I still think it's a nice dress so I hope she gets it because time is running out! My FI did an hour long fashion show last night with various different pants and shirts we ordered and I THINK it is now finalized...LOL I have no idea why it takes so long to make that decision. He ended up going with the one I liked (go figure) an hour after trying on all different combos! My OOT bags have been ready for awhile (honestly, I had the best time getting everything together) I just need to print off my itineraries, finish my DIY luminaries, write my welcome notes, finalize my music choices, and create some playlists for the reception. My final dress fitting is March 28, I made my nail appt, hair trial appt, dentist appt already and I am hoping to get to Sephora for a makeup trial and keep tanning so I have some color!
  6. That was awesome! Brought tears to my eyes...what a beautiful ceremony. Thanks for sharing!

Just make sure you get your hair done early so you don't have to stress and have lots of time for makeup. I also arranged for one of our guests to do any last minute running around. It was super helpful b/c the BM's were busy getting ready and there turned out to be a lot of running around and the resort is very big, so no errand is a quick errand. We brought chocolate bars, makeup, stationary and little nail kits. The stuff you are bringing sounds great. We found what makes the biggest difference is meeting your housekeeper and trying to get to know her. Some people who left the biggest tips got the worst service, really weird I know. Sarah! I'm getting so excited for you! How was your trip to Winnipeg? Sounds good, there will be 6 of us needing to get our hair done as well and my wedding is at 4, so I think we will need to start around 10 or 11. It would be nice to have more time to do my makeup so I'll make sure I go first for hair! I'll try to corner our best man's wife to do our running around - great idea! I'm sure there's always last-minute things to get done. Thanks for the tip on getting to know the housekeeper! We will be sure to pass that along. Winnipeg was great! I got to see my MOH and meet my flower girl for the first time! Unfortunately, we did not find a dress for my MOH but she is on the case LOL I cannot stress about it or I'd go nuts! We did find a flower girl dress for her daughter though, so for wedding attire, it wasn't a complete loss! Plus, it was great to catch up with my MOH since we only see each other about twice a year!

For the hair we went to a little salon near the lobby of the hotel. She can only do one girl at a time and she takes a little bit longer than I expected. We started the mothers hair appointments at 9, then me, then my 3 BM's. I went earlier just in case it didn't work out and so that I could take my time doing my makeup. It all worked out great in the end. Connie, were you able to pay for your hair appts with your credit card or did she only take CUC's? I have 6 ladies who need their hair done so I think we will need to start early. What time was your ceremony? Also, did you bring anything for the workers at the resort? If so, what do you recommend bringing? We have crayons, pencil cases, and toys with the Canadian flag on them...what do you think?
  9. Ok girls...first attempt LOL!! Remember I am using our beach cookie cutters as templates...the blue bag is mine (oh and the blobby thing is supposed to be a starfish...still working on getting that exact-o-knife working how it should!) - my FI's is the yellow bag. Admittedly, much nicer than mine. Nothing like a Saturday afternoon craft competition to keep things fresh! We had to take them to the bathroom since it's the darkest place in our house at the moment. They actually look really cool and I hope the rest turn out better than our trial ones.
  10. Ok my what's-left-to-do list as of today: -finalize music choices for ceremony -create some playlists on my iPod for the reception -get my MOH dress/shoes (this is kind of in her court now as she lives 2 provinces away from me...I went out to see her last weekend but I think she will end up ordering one from a bridal shop...hopefully it will get here in time!) -make makeup trial appt -make waxing appt -make my DIY luminaries with my mom for the reception I made my nail appt, hair trial appt, dentist appt already. My mom is in charge of the pedicure appts before we leave. All in all, I think we are in good shape (I hope!) - my wedding band arrived and my FI's should be here in the next few weeks. My shower is at the end of March and I have no clue how many people are coming or who is invited! Ah the joys of being the oblivious bride! K how's everyone else doing?
  11. Welcome to the forum! I love seeing fellow Albertans on here...happy planning!

I too, didn't see the point of a guest book which is why for our AHR we're doing a scrapbook with a polaroid camera where guests can have 1/2 a page to themselves to leave us whatever message they like. I can't wait!! I asked two of my students (I'm a teacher) to help with the picture taking and helping guests with the scrapbook. I think it'll be fun! That will be fun! My cousin did that for his wedding and I think it makes a really cool memory to look back on!

  14. My flower girl will be 9 months at our wedding. We got her dress this past weekend. It incorporates the bright colors that are in our wedding and I think she'll look so sweet! We got her a sweater as well for when it cools off in the evening. And here is our flower girl!

I didn't really like the concept of a guest book (since people just write their names and where they came from). I found these on ebay instead which I am handing out at my shower to those not coming to the wedding and will bring them to Cuba as well for those who are. It's essentially a chance for people to congratulate us and provide us with words of wisdom, etc. which I thought were cool. Anyways, I just emailed the seller our names and wedding date and they look really nice.

  17. Agreed with everyone...I had to develop a thick skin really fast. Some days are harder than others (especially if I'm pms-ing!) but don't lose sight of what it is you are doing. At the end of the day, you and your FI are getting married where you want, the way you want, to each other! All the best!
  18. fellow Canadian! Congratulations and happy planning!
  19. How did you fix this? Did I screw it up LOL...should I say again how much I love the TTD??
  20. Yikes that is crazy expensive, even moreso if you are having more than one bridesmaid! Gorgeous though!! I love the colors.
  21. There is some discussion I've heard about whether or not Dave was in on it...have you heard that this whole "quitting acting to be a rapper" thing is actually a joke that his friend, Casey Affleck, is making into a documentary? Apparently Casey was there last night with a video camera filming it...whatever the case, I think it's weird. I so loved him in Walk the Line. Now he's creepy.

If I come home with any more OOT bag stuff my FI will change the locks LOL I hope it stays warm while I'm there - I've been to Winnipeg in the winter before and it's always been nice. People think I'm crazy for going there in the winter but truth be told, I love Winnipeg! I'm so excited to see my MOH and meet her daughter (who I've never met before!) - she will be 9 months at the wedding. Can't wait to find her a cute flower girl dress - I think she will steal the show!
