  1. We are doing OOT bags as well. We will have these bags either put in the rooms or we will give them to everyone at dinner the first night. We purchased a tote bag per couple and are filing each one with sunscreen, bug spray, two shot glasses, a mini bottle of tequila (will purchase in Mx), candy, an itenary of the week, and brochures for the hotel and excursions. Most of these items were prchased through a local wedding shop (Nuptial Necessites- she has a website so you might be able to order if you are not local as well) . The shot glasses came from theknot.com. For the bridal party each female is getting a starfish necklace earing combo and each male is getting a cigar/flask combo that goes in their pocket. The jewelry was ordered through overstocksilver.com. At the wedding we will have fans at the ceremony and a starfish bottle topper per couple at dinner. The bottle topper was from theknot.com as well. I have ordered everything a little at a time for the last year and a half so spead out it hasn't seemed to bad....my FI might not agree. Hope this helps! ~Tiff~
  2. Hi all, Getting married June 8, 2010 in Cozumel. We are staying at the Occidental Grand Cozumel but having the wedding at Mr. Sancho's. We have seen both locations on our vacation last year and plan to go back in November to plan with our WC. We have confirmed our date with wedding site but still need to book rooms and flights. I am learning that flights are a pain. I thought if you had a large group the airlines would want to work with you but instead I am finding the opposite. Instead they seem to want to charge way more for a group of 10 or more. Any one else getting married in Cozumel? having flight issues? or a "wedding date twin"?
  3. Hello all, I am getting married in June 2010 in Cozumel. I am using Cozumel Wedding Planner and getting married at Mr. Sanchos. I am very satisfied but would like additional vendor information for things not offered by Stephanie. First, does anyone know of any cigar shops/rollers to do a Cigar Bar for my FI? He will be so surprised if I can pull this off for him and his boys! Also I am looking for alternatives in photography. She has someone she recommends but I would like to find someone more creative. As of right now I have contacted Sascha Gluck and Moments That Matter. Del Sol Photography was goergous but too expensive. Any suggestions welcome. I am also looking for rental companies for linens and lounge furniture. As of now I am going to bring linens from home, but if I can find what I am looking for in Mx that would be great. If anyone could help me with any of this I would be greatful. Also if I find anything in the meantime I will post it as well. Thanks!
  4. I am also currently on the hunt for a photographer. I really like Moments that Matter the most so far. They do a great job for the price and I have heard only positive remarks. My wedding coordinator works with a photographer but I am not that excited about his work so I am looking elsewhere. I do not know if you have sent a PM to Simistar but she had a very negative experience with Micheal Maunis at Cancun Wedding photography. After reading her post I would NEVER use them! Why chance your wedding day being ruined by a jerk! Also, if your budget allows De lSol Photography is amazing. They are too expensive for us but I would definately use them if I could. Good luck to all!
  5. Gina- The Occidental Grand Cozumel is smaller that the Occidental Xcaret but is just as nice. They each have things that make them unique. Xcaret has the beach restaurant with the gazebo but Cozumel has a real beach that is great. They both have plenty of activites both night and day. Cozumel has a fun activity pool like Xcaret but the also have an adult relax pool. There is no swim up bar but there are still bars at every pool. Also Cozumel has a fun disco/ kareoke bar that was fun, can't remember if Xcaret has one. We settled on Cozumel for two reasons...1st the beach. Most of my family that is coming wants to be beach side and it is important to my Fi. 2nd Cozumel has a beautiful wedding venue outside of the hotel (less than a mile from the resort) that we love. It has more to offer at better prices than the hotel for the actual ceremony and reception. If you want to check it out go to cozumelweddingplanner.com and click create your package and then on Mr. Sanchos. Also I have heard that when you use WC at the resorts you may not have the same person throughout the planning process because they change often. I personally want to deal with the same person so I am positve I will get the things I want on the day of. Hope this helps! BTW-We love both of the resorts and I don't think you could go wrong choosing either!
  6. Gina- Which Occidental Grand did you decide on? Xcaret or Cozumel? We are have staed a week at both for vacation. They are both gorgeous resorts and we loved them both. We will be staying at the Grand Cozumel during our wedding. We decided Xcaret was too big for us, and Cozumel had an actual beach. I did love the gazebo at Xcaret though. I would love to chat more. Ttyl. Best wishes!
  7. If anyone is looking for a coordinator in Cozumel Stephanie from Cozumel Wedding Planners has been awsome so far. I am going to meet her in person in a few months but email and telephone communication has been fast and effective. BTW- Stay clear of Fionna Lomax! She was blatenly rude and awful to me and my family! She has no respect and I do not know why she is in the wedding business! When I asked her about the services she provided for the day of the wedding she had the nerve to say, "Brides from the US come down here and expect us to jump when they say." She went on to say that it was not her job. Beware ladies!
  8. Hello everyone! My entire guest count will be using Viva for our wedding in June 2010. I have flown with Viva twice and will be flying with them again in November to finish wedding details. They are great for the price. My ticket for Nov. is the cheapest so far ($150 after tax and fees). No food or drinks provided free of charge, but because they are a Mexican airline stuff is cheap ($2.50 for a beer). Also they are strict with the weight limit so be careful. Another important note to anyone not familiar to he airport- it is at the South Terminal not the Main Terminal. Be sure you know where to go because they are not next to each other!
  9. Thanks to everyone for welcoming me and best wedding wishes to you all!
  10. Dear Sheena and all other interested brides- Response to pros and cons listed for Mr. Sanchos Yeah I totally agree that the name (Mr. Sancho's) is not very romantic, so on our Save the dates we just called it "The Wedding Garden." I have not tried the food there yet, but we are going in November for tastings. Stephanie, from Cozumel Wedding Planners, has said that we can tweek the menu some from what's listed online. I can fill everyone in on how it goes when we get back. Also, as far as the venue goes, we went there last July and it was by far the most beautiful. (Other beaches were dirty and some had strange oders.) From what I understand Stephanie is the owner of the garden property and she keeps it in excellent condition. She does allow you to bring in outside planners if they are taking care of services she does not provide but all things directly related to the venue go through her. BTW- cozumelweddingplanner.com website has info for anyone who is interested but note that if you are a picky bride like myself and want more things than you see there she and her staff are more than willing to work with you. For example she does not have table linens I like so I am bringing them with me and a friend is going to the site early to help her put them on. Hope this will help someone! Good luck to all the ladies (and gentlemen) in search!
  11. Hello Cozumel brides, I have been planning (or trying to plan) my June 2010 wedding since July of 07! We decided on a vacation to Xcaret in Mexico that the beach was definately where our wedding was going to be. We have since then been back to Mexico twice, once to Playa and once to Cozumel. I have also been to Cancun (when I was 19). We have decided on Cozumel. I like the idea of getting married on an Island! Cancun, for me, has too many young party goers. We want a more intimate affair. We have choosen to marry at Mr. Sanchos (it has a wedding garden and a beach side restaurant). The name sounds funny but it is gorgeous and the wedding planner, Stephanie, is great. We saved our date with her last year but we can not arrange any details until 3-6 months before due to the many number of weddings she does year round. SHe is great and has a website that is very helpful if anyone is interested. Cozumelweddingplanner.com Also the resort will not let us book rooms until June 09 or later because they do not yet have the rates set. We are staying at the Occidental Grand Cozumel. If you do decide you like Cozumel you can still fly into Cancun because it is cheaper then you take the bus from the airport to Playa which is only ~$8. Once at the bus stop in Playa there is a ferry around the corner and you take that to Cozumel, ~$12. Do NOT take a cab from airport to Playa, they will rip you off and you have to walk forever to get to the ferry. Also if you look into Grand Cozumel and you decide you are looking for more inexpensive rooms try their sister resort next door, Allegro Cozumel. If there are any other Cozumel brides I would love to hear from you! Hope this helps someone.

  14. Hi everyone, My name is Tiffany and I am getting married on the Island of Cozumel in June 2010 at a lovely place called Mr. Sanchos. I know the name sounds funny but it has a gorgeous garden to be married at overlooking the beach. If you want to be married in Cozumel it is the best place, trust me we looked everywhere on the Island for the perfect place. ~Tiff~
