Hey there all, I have been trying to look for a thread in regards to this topic but couldn't find one. I recently heard of someone having guests that were unable to attend the actual DW contribute ($$) to a DW as gifts. Has anyone heard of this or done it this way? When I shared the wedding information with my uncle he said that instead of him going he will give me his gift ($) so it will go towards our DW. Im not sure if this is part of the Filipino tradition that it's more common for guests give monetary gifts or if other cultures practice this as well. Let me know what you guys think and if you have heard of this before.

So glad to hear that there are other brides that have later weddings then ours and are already planning! We are planning for April 15th 2010 Riu Ocho Rios. My FI is in the Navy and we want to make sure that neither him or his friends are overseas at the time and of course we had to avoid hurricane season! Oh and its suppose to be low season also! Still a little too early to book any packages though at this resort. I had emailed the wedding co-ordinator on site and wedding packages for 2010 won't be out till Feb 09! Happy planning everyone!

I have been trying to do some early research in regards to the change in my status early since I know immigration papers and such can take a while. I would like to attempt to do this myself as opposed to hiring a lawyer if possible. I currently work on a TN visa in Seattle and just renew it yearly. My finacee and I live together out this way . I have heard that once we do get married in Jamaica and come back to the States there is a possiblity that I maybe denied even with my TN visa.One option I was given was that after we get married I return back to Canada and start filing my papers as a spouse. But what if I still want to work on my TN visa?? And who really wants to be separated from their husband right after you get back from getting married?! The other option was to have a civil marriage , file for papers THEN have our destination wedding. Kinda defeats the purpose though, I think. Im still doing research and I thought that maybe someone on the forum has advice or experience they want to share. You can let me know privately or on here! Hope everyone is well!

Hello all, What a great site! My name is Tracy and I have just recently gotten engaged to my wonderful boyfriend of 5 yrs! We have picked April 15th 2010 for our wedding date and we are going to get married in Ocho Rios. Still debating in the resort though. Initially, we were going to do Sunset Jamaica Grande then with further all inclusive resort research we found the Riu which sounds fantastic! We still have yet to decide! Im sure this site will be help us decide! Can't wait! T
