I thought that was a reasonale price. We wanted all our guest to have a good time so we didnt want to ask someone to man the ipod all night. We are still working on a play list. What I was planning on was doing a few playlist IE: Cocktail, Dinner, first dances, party tunes. on our wedding website we ask poeople to put down a few of their favorite songs so that we could add them to the palylist. I am thinking of buying a new ipod, just to keep things organized. We have the same - a package with 2 speakers, wireless microphone and a technician for the duration of the cremony and evening. A bit less than 400$. The technician will install the material (as well as the lights) and play the music for ceremony and afterwards.
  2. Must haves : 1. Family/friends 2. Real champagne (not sparkling wine) and stunning food (my French side - I could not do a Mexican or BBQ wedding) 3. More food and drinks than can be absorbed (I could not live with people being hungry or thirsty) 4. Great music 5. Professional photographer + videographer (for all those that could not make it) 6. Intimacy (not a huge resort - not a crowded beach) Don't care : 1. Matching colors 2. Elaborate menus or place cards 3. Centerpieces, flowers : the hotel and beach are so beautiful by themselves 4. Aisle runner, bows on the chairs : we are on the beach... keep it simple 5. Live music 6. Cake (nobody will be hungry any more - see point 3 above lol) 7. Speeches Must not have (I add to the list ) : 1. Receiving line 2. Feeding each other with the cake 3. Garter toss 4. Toast master / wedding bells 5. Religious conotations
  3. I think our thread just got highjacked !
  4. Well, I think I know what you mean I think I do have non traditional rings. My e-ring is a pearl (I did not want a diamond) : and my band is not a band, it's just a ring that is a little bit band-like and that I fell in love with. All the pieces are articulated and so the ring is not solid, it's flexible : DH has a more traditional band. I don't have a pic but here is the link to the ring on the vendor's site : Robbins Bros. - Diamond Engagement Rings, Wedding Bands, Bridal Jewelry, Anniversary Gifts, Loose Diamonds, Sets, Designer Settings and more
  5. One thing you should know about vistaPrint... there is ALWAYS an offer going on, just check ! For instance I saw the postcards offer this morning again in my weekly offer email...

I found they were the cheapest and it too about 10 business days to get there. I could've mailed it for cheaper with them but I decided to do delivery confirmation and tracking(which is realized once it got into Mexico the tracking stopped!) Thank you so much ! My flowers are super light so that should work !
  8. Well it was a very, very good and productive day for us today !!! First, I had my second fitting. The dress had already be shortened (from the top) and had the bustle done. I was this time going to take the bust area in. Here are the pics : You will note that this dress is a size 14, haha. Wedding dresses sizes. What a joke. Anyway, I also got my TTD dress to be taken in, and I must say that I LOVE this dress as much as I love my "official" dress. this is SO great because I got it for nothing (it's a David's Bridal on sale - 99$), on the internet (did not even tried it on), and it turns out so pretty ! I'm so glad I'm gonna get pictures in both Then, we found the shirt to go with DH suit ! I'll post that in the groom's attires That was so easy it was a pleasure. It ends up beng a very thin cotton rather than linen, exactly as he wanted it - long sleeves, pattern on the front, strong collar... We also found an awesome linen shirt that I hope he'll wear for the TTD ! Last but not least, we foun him another wedding band. And I'm so glad the other one was too big now ! The new one is much, much more expensive but so great - I'm in love with it just as I'm in love with mine. It's from Robbins Bros. When we saw it in the window, we did not like it at all - both of us. But the sales guy - who apparently knows its stuff - took it out and when it was on its finger, wow that was it ! All the other ones looked blah. It's this one : Robbins Bros. - Diamond Engagement Rings, Wedding Bands, Bridal Jewelry, Anniversary Gifts, Loose Diamonds, Sets, Designer Settings and more Tonight we go out to celebrate ! A good day !

If not I'll just have to bring new ones down with me. If I have to end up doing that then I'll just have to carry it with me at all times so nothing gets broken. I'll do the bubble wrap again! I also have some very bulky shipments to make (flowers mostly) ;I looked online at USPS, Fedex, UPS and the quote were horrific ! How did you do it ? Did you make smaller boxes ? Which carrier did you use ? How long did it take ? I just saw the answer on the price so not asking how much, but super interested by the size of your box, and the carrier !! Thanks a bunch ! Ayita

It's like knowing where the Christmas presents are hidden. How exciting !! My registry mails actually tells me what I got so... no hiding but I get the Christmas feeling everytime I receive a package in the mail (even though I was the one to order), and I received a lot lately ! Here's the dress I'm planning on wearing at the Sunday brunch - received yesterday from VS : Christmas ! I'll make sure to take pics tomorrow. But the dress will be too big in the boobs area
  12. Awesone thread ! I wish I had started to read this earlier. I just sent an email to my wedding planner to see if we can downsize the cake !!

I want to have this out of my way !!
  14. Well, as I have already explained in some places, I had to make my own website from scratch because I needed a bilingual French / English site. I used yola (previously called synthasite). This is a great site, with lots of templates that you can completely customize, easy online tuition for the basic, integrated photo editor, unlimited storage for your files (pictures, etc), widgets, and completely free I did not want to share it here because a lot of it is very personal and I'm very cautious with public forums - not for you guys but for the people who are just visiting and not registering, well I'm sure you know what I mean. But yesterday I had the idea of just creating a copycat site with just the pages that are actually not personal and easy to share !! So here it is - there are pages with formalities and health (for Mexico), practical info, activities, weather (for Riviera Maya) and packing list / what to do before leaving (for everyone). I only put the english version here, but if you want the French let me know ! Because I broke the links the little menus inserted inside the pages will not work, just use the upper navigation menu ! Enjoy ! http://tosharewithbdw.synthasite.com/

I couldn't have got things done if I had not known until now ! Anyway some good and bad news here !! first : my money (of course). Well, I am very "unfortunate" to have swiss employer and bank with UBS !! and with all the troubles that this bank has had recently with the IRS and the US government, they just have decided to close all "US persons" (which I am with my address in Houston) accounts ! And when were you planning on telling me ? And where is my money ? This is my salary for God sake ! They don't even seem to care that I have paid US taxes on this already, and that I have actually declared my account to the IRS. I even offered to send them the return but --- CYA strategy I guess !!! Long story short... I managed to get them to authorized the salary to come in (thanks !!!!) but I'm not yet sure I can actually use the money (and make wires to my suppliers and my own US account). I will know in a few days... Darn I need another drink ! But I'm on a a diet... Second... wow look at my ticker !!!! Third... My program paper came in and it's awesome ! I'm going to assemble them now... and last but not least : I don't know why I did not think about it before, but I have actually made a copy of my web pages that are not personal and created a new site to share with you guys !!! Feel free to steal from the activities, formalities, health, practical info... Here it is : http://tosharewithbdw.synthasite.com/ Let me know if you also want the French pages, I can make a copy tonight
  16. This is one of the main reasons why I decided not to go for an AI... People already pay for food and drinks, and you pay for it through the daily pass, and you STILL have to pay for food and drinks if you have a "private reception" which is - depending on the resort - more than a certain number of guests or having some areas reserved for you. I think this is really abusive - asking you to pay twice for the same thing ? At least in my non-AI, I'm paying for food and drinks but 1. I know why and 2. my guests did not have to pay for the exact same food and drinks too !
  17. My friends wanted to do me one but they ended up skipping it, I was so disappointed ! I'm sure it would be great fun ! Hey, can I come with ? I live in Houston
  18. I don't have the Reese but I also have a dress "with a back" : I'm planning on wearing a low-do. I will have a single-layer veil for the ceremony, thenafter just flowers. My hair inspirations (yet to narrow down lol) : (thanks Morgan for this one)

I hope it all gets solved for you! Ayita - EEK about your paycheck - WTF how does that even happen??! I hope u get ur money soon! Yes it's really crappy ! i have no clue what happened, my HR is in Geneva and they sleep now (I only realized when I went on my account at 2pm to pay an invoice - it was already 9pm there). Pff. She lives abroad so we had to order without her trying, and apparently the dress make her breast looking even smaller than it is... I feel very bad, because the last thing I want is my girls feeling bad in their dresses ! I'm debatting going to Alfred Angelo and ordering another one for her, I have coupons from last time + they have new models but she said NO and she would not have the time to get it adjusted if needed... Idon't know what to do ! 2. Looks like FI has lost weight ! His wedding band is too big now ! He loses it (he tried it on yesterday and if he puts his hand down, it slips... and get out of his finger). I'm debatting - resize it ? order new one ? Crap ! 3. I have to pay my WC and the hotel and it's THE month that my salary did not make it to my bank account !!!!!!! I'm only paid once a month, and my salary got paid on March 27th according to my payslip - never made it to the bank ! It was supposed to be THE BIG month (with bonus), instead it's the month with nothing ! I hope my suppliers understand and give me a few days - but it's super embarrassing !!!! crap crap crap

In the "edit" menu, you should have an option "save page as", then if you choose, "html page complete", or "webpage, complete", it will save the page on your hard drive as is, and put all the files (pics, etc) into a folder. You can do this for each page. It works on both IE and Firefox.

  23. We are going to stay at the Tides. We visited it back in December and absolutely loved the intimacy of the litle bungalows lost in the jungle. The Spa is beautiful. We were not bothered by bugs at the time - nor in the hotel we get married in (Le Reve, which is 2 hotels away on the same beach). This might be because it was not hot yet, though, we'll see one month from now ! As for the food : the Tides is located on a beach where you have several other places that serve food. There's the Thai Beach Club of the hotel princess (5-10 min walk towards Cancun), it's typical cafe food - salads, burgers, sandwiches. There's the restaurant of Le Petit Laffite (just next door). And there's the restaurant from Le Reve (as I said, 2 hotels down towards Playa del Carmen). So if you're tired of the Tides, you can walk to each of these places for a change.
