My advice is to stay in contact with those on your guest list either via email or newsletters so you can keep guests updated and send them reminders. Also set reasonable deadlines. Most guests are used to booking vacations 3-4 months in advance of their travel so asking them to make a firm decision 6+ months in advance won't really work with the exception of your VIPs (i.e. immediately family and wedding party will often book early with you). You can set up group booking with early deposit dates and booking deadlines. I am not saying not to at all. I am just saying be prepared for that not to work with everyone on your guest list. There are always stragglers. THIS COULDN'T BE MORE TRUE It was certainly my experience and many of the other DW brides I know.
  2. We had 50 % attendance and 60 people. It was easy, not tooo stressful and everyone had a great time.
  3. Absolutely Agree! My cousin had a very limited budget at home wedding a few weeks ago and a "friend" took pictures. They are horrendous absolutely horrendous. There was a sheet backdrop and some sort of kalidescope effect. I am still shaking from how aweful they were. It is worth making room in your budget for proffessional photography, cause at the end of the day and all the money spent it is one of the tangilbles that lasts forever along with your hubby and your ring
  4. Looks Great Cassie! Your wedding is supposed to be amazing!

  10. This issue has been discussed in the following threads: http://bestdestinationwedding.com/fo...ugs-com-19779/ http://bestdestinationwedding.com/fo...nt-mugs-53409/ http://bestdestinationwedding.com/fo...nt-mugs-50744/ http://bestdestinationwedding.com/fo...nt-mugs-52073/ http://bestdestinationwedding.com/fo...warning-42672/ There are others but I think that is enough of an example.
  11. My husband ended up wearing his billabong shorts for the reception and yes i was still in my thousand dollar plus gown. and it was perfect! Why was it perfect you may ask, cause I was me and he was him. I would never force him to be something he is not. That is not how our relationship works we are free to be who we are and express ourselves. Even in our wedding clothes.
  12. I hope you had the most beautiful day ever Di!!!!!
  13. WOW, That is nuts!!!! Well Boys are good too!!! Congrats!
  14. Di Congrats!! I cant believe it is already your time!! Everything looks great!, Your guests are going to be blown away!!
  15. I have used them! They are legit, and there is definately fine print so just be sure to read it, like some are only good for 4 or more people, or only M-R. Etc I had some restaurats that I purchase from drop out of participation and just got credit with restaurants .com to use on other restaurants.
  16. We also even took the local bus back from the Hilton to Dreams and that is really cheap too. like less than a $1.
  17. Thanks Tammy, in hindsight, it would have been really dumb is someone drowned and ruined our wedding trip. But it didnt happen, and I think we were lucky with calm days. But you can certainly take awsome walks on the beach. We walked to the hilton a few times and the walk is really pretty and a little adventerous and the terrain changes a bit. You can also take the horses for pretty cheap for an extra bit of fun and then walk back.
  18. I swam at the dreams beach nearly everyday, although they certainly dont like it. But it is swim at your own risk on reasonable days. The beach is rough, but that means not too many people running all around. It is very relaxing
  19. My ceremony was at 4pm. I highly recommend contact your photographer to help you decide when the best light will be and when you want to take pics.
  20. I think it took about a week, but in the same week I contacted Tammy (Host) Wright Travel Agency, and she helped speed things along and get my date reserved. A key component to working with your wedding coordinator once she is assigned, is to have one email stream, list your questions and let them answer before asking more. It keeps their inbox and your inbox more organized and they are more likely to respond to you sooner, Usually about once a week until 1-2 months before you wedding then it increased to daily before you leave. That was my experience at least.
  21. Ohh, what were your thoughts on the intelligender! I cant wait to hear if it is accurate
  22. JILL YOU ARE MY HERO!!!! Way to go girl!!
