  1. yep, it's crazy. When I find out what's up I will definately let you ladies know.
  2. Okay, sorry ladies but I need to vent! So last week I had sent Ael and email about wedding stuff and I am still waiting to hear back. It's very frustrating because I want to know what is going on. Ael had told me that if the group was 70 or more people then you paid $1900 for the chili's private dinner and you got it from 7pm-11pm. This has a choice of either, and international buffet, a mexican buffet or plate service (for $25 more per person) I would rather do this with the mexican buffet from 7-11 for $200 more then wait until 8:45pm for our dinner. anyway this is what I am waiting to find out because she had to check with management to see if that was allowed. Honestly, I am paying more for it, why wouldn't it be allowed? Hopefully this all makes sense..... Josie - did you book your spa stuff yet? what all are you getting done at the spa?
  3. Congrats Lisa!!!! Can't wait to see all your before and after pictures!!!
  4. I am not sure if they will let you but even if they do I am not sure I would trust it. Just my opinion.
  5. Awesome frame, thanks so much for sharing!! I just got one, I can't wait to see it.

My biggest problem is that I am an advance planner so am a little nervous thinking of all the things I would like to have "set" and not leave to chance. However, it sounds like other members weddings have gone off fantastically without a whole lot of advanced planning. Yet it is kind of confusing..... without knowing in advance where different activities would be, how did you make up a program to give your guests so they would know where to meet and when? We'd like to put together a program that would say what bar to go to meet at for the cocktail party, etc. Like the previous bride mentioned, we don't want to be trying to be get the word out to the guests verbally while they are all out trying to enjoy their vacations. Another question I had was for people doing the out of town bags. Did the resort deliver these bags to the wedding guests when they checked in, or did you have to go to them individually and give them to them? I saw that quite a few people did the maracas at the reception.... love it... and many have posted that they purchased them while there for $1.00 each. I guess I am just worried that we would get there and there wouldn't be any maracas there to buy or they would be very expensive?? Was it easy to find them in town? Could you buy more than 50 easily? Did anyone try to ship anything to the resort in advance? For instance, if we purchase bows for the chairs, travel mugs etc... are you allowed to ship them direct to the resort and have them just hold them there for you? Has anyone done a planned excursion for the guests to one of the ruins or nature preserves? If so, did you just pay in advance for everyone and let them do it at their leisure? Or, did you just send out a note to everyone or include a note to everyone that there would be an optional excursion on such and such a date at such and such a time? I have seen several references to a "casino". Is there a casino at the resort (I did not see it on the website) or is there a casino at one of the sister resorts that is easy to get to? Who has been to the disco and what is it like? Has anyone had their reception "after party" at the disco? If so, will they play your personal music play list for you there or will they only play their own music? (If you rent out the disco that is) If you do rent out the disco can you still allow anyone to come in including your own guests but also resort guests as well? Will the DJ announce the wedding party as they enter the disco? How far is the disco from the resort and is the path to get there easy to find and follow for those who want to walk? I heard that the music they provide at the wedding is " cheesy"... Can you ask them to play your own play list as far as music goes for the actual ceremony? Thanks for bearing with all the momly questions. Hi Josie!! Sincerely, Susan Hi Josie's Mom!! Welcome! It is so awesome that you are helping Josie with all her planning. I am actually getting married at the Riu Palace Riviera Maya a couple weeks before Josie. If you talk to Ael (the weddiing cordinator at the rprm) she should be able to tell you where you are having the cocktail hour, then all you need for your program is Wedding Ceremony - time Cocktails - Time Reception - Time If you did it like that it should be clear to everyone. As far as the OOT bags go, this is what I got back from Ael: Is it possible to get gift bags given to guests as they arrive at the hotel, either at the front desk or in their rooms? Is there a charge for this? You may bring your own gift bags with labels and rooming list to hand to the front desk manager. This are sent to the rooms on check-in day and although a fee does not apply, our staff will be delighted to assist you if you give them a token of appreciation. We are also doing Maracas as our favour, however because of the uncertainty of sending stuff to the hotel I had mine delivered here in Canada and then I am taking all the stuff in bags between myself and the wedding party. I have heard from other brides that you can get the maracas down there but I did not want to stress about it once I get there. I have not heard anything about a casino so I can't help you there. Also for the disco, we will probably end up going there as a group but we are not renting it out. just whoever wants to go after the reception will go. I don't know how far the walk is. This is what Ael told me about the music: What is the music that is played during the ceremony? Popular weddings songs like: Canon in D, Wedding March, Here comes the Bride, Somewhere over the Rainbow etc... You will have the opportunity to select the songs you like on the day of our interview. I am not sure what the music is for the reception but I am going to make a list still and hopefully I can get those songs played. That's all the info I have for now, if you have any more questions I am happy to try and help. Lisa PS sorry for such a long posting!!!

  11. I have met Bev before at my friends party actually, small world! My friends are Dwayne & Darren Gauthier, the owners of the restaurant and their significant others, Robyn and Andrea. I have ate there before and at the old location and the food is amazing and the atmosphere is awesome. I highly reccomend it, I'd say it is probably the best restaurant in Red Deer, not just cause they are my good friends but because it really is!
  12. Josie & Katie - I don't know the answer to how many people are seated at each table. i do have it on a list of questions I need to ask though so I can let you know. I would like to do a head table if possible.

  19. Does anyone know where I can buy these or order them from online? I have been pretty much stalking Michaels and everytime they tell me they come on the truck on Monday's so check Tuesday. I have been checking everyday of the week anyway but there is never any there! it is kinda frustrating! I saw the DIY way and that seems like a lot of work to me, I will go that route if I have too...but I'd like to see if I can find them pre-made. I am looking for Bride, Bridesmaid, Flowergirl, Mother of the Bride and Mother of the groom ones, if you can help me that would be fabulous.
