I would like to say a huge thank you to Tammy for creating this site!!!! I honestly would have been lost without it! Thanks to all the ladies here for your support and ideas, I am happy to have shared my wedding planning experiences with each one of you! Thanks to those brides from whom I used your ideas and happy planning to those brides to be!! Engagement Story We were on vacation in Newfoundland, my Fiancé (Doug) is from there and every time we went on a trip I was always wondering if he was going to propose and he still never had. The thought did not even cross my mind that he would pop the question on this trip. Anyway we were at Cape Spear which is the most easterly point in North America and the waves were huge and crashing along the rocks like I had never seen (it was only my 3rd trip there.) As we stood there watching the waves we also saw some whales which is something else I always want to see when I go and never have. Then as we were walking away Doug pulled me to the side, got down on one knee and asked me to marry him. And of course I said, “Are you serious..†over and over for a couple minutes and then a huge “YES!!â€. He totally took me by surprise, the greatest surprise ever! I was thinking the same thing ladies...not very many singles coming to the wedding so the garter toss and boquet toss seem a little pointless...I don't think I will do it so hopefully it is not tacky!

KimmyG - For the private receptions they only serve beer and wine but you can pay 9/person for an open bar. That is what we are doing. I just got an email from Ael and we get to have our private dinner at Chili's at 7pm!!! I am the happiest person ever right now!!!! Everything is coming together perfectly!!!! This is our Wedding day timeline 1pm - Ceremony 2-4 pictures 5:30pm - Cocktail 7pm - dinner We are still trying to get our ceremony at 2 or 3, we will see how that goes...I will keep you posted though!!

My bridal shower was awesome!! All my friends were there and we had a great time, I am so glad that I got to have one. I am with you on the whole weight thing, at this point I can't do anything else about it. Having stress fractures and shin splints has definately put a damper on working out. I am going to focus on working out when I get back. Coverups are going to be my new best friend for this trip which totally sucks! You are going to have an awesome time at your stagette!! Do you know what you are doing for it?

Wow, 6:30, that is awesome!!! Are you still having a cocktail hour? Our ceremony time is at 1pm so we will have tons of time for pictures however I still want a later time even 2 or 3 I will be happy with. I think you will have plenty of time for pictures. We are having a cocktail hour starting at 5:30 and it can go until 7:30 but if our dinner is at 8:45 that will totally suck! That'a another reason I want it to start at 7pm. I am with you though, I am not stressing about this stuff cause we can deal with it when we meet the wedding co-ordinator. Are you not working today?? Have you started your planning thread yet? I can't wait to see it!!!

I definately would never say your name ever!!! I think thats a unspoken rule of these forums. Who knows what the hotel does one day to another!! You have to try an squeeze everything you can outta them!!! Thanks for the info though. I am going to keep trying my hardest to get an earlier time. My fiance actually wrote a letter to the Riu because he is ticked that everything has a price to it. Anyway we ended up getting the projector and screen for cheaper and also the open bar cost per person dropped. It's definately worth fighting to get what you want. I just want to get all my times straightened out so I can make a welcome letter that includes a wedding day list of events.

Oh, how come you decided to change to a private reception? I am working on my planning thread so it should be up today or tomorrow... Right now we are having our private dinner at Botafogo at 8:45pm but we are trying to get it changed to chili's at 7pm with a buffet. it's more expensive but I do not want to wait until 8:45pm. The catch is that you have to have at least 60 people. We have 59 booked right now...hopefully they will let us.

Sammysgirl - I am so happy to hear you decided to have all the guests, I think you will have an awesome wedding and a wonderful vacation with them all! shellk - I am all sorted I just have some minor details like picking up a garter and making place cards for the dinner and some last minute running around to do but other then that we are packed and we have handed out most of our OOT bags to the people that live here (40 of our 60 guests live in the same city as us, so we figured give them the bags here and it cuts our luggage down a lot!!)

Less then a week until we leave!! mrsmarch4 - I agree with shellk, we just sent out the inviatation and an rsvp card. We also had information about accomodation and things to do our wedding website which was on our invitation.

I had my shower last night, it was a blast!!!! I actually was out until 3am and did not make it to work today...woopsie!!! My boss knows so it's all good. I got my hair done today too, it's dark brown with blonde streaks and I really love it!!

My stagette was sooo fuun!!! It was an amazing party my BM's did an awesome job, there was games, tons to drink and a stripper!!! I am just not sure I can ever have christmas in my parents living room anymore, it might be a little strange!!! For one of the games my BM asked each guest to bring a pair of underwear and I had to guess which guest had brought it and if I got it wrong I had to do a shot...there was like 30 people there, how was I suppose to guess them all right....I only got 2 right!!! I now have an awesome underware collection!!!
