  1. Ael told us we can have a semi-private cocktail hour for free if we have it between 5:30 and 7:30. This would be my timeline if that was the case 1pm - Ceremony 5:30-7:30 - Cocktails 8:45-11:30 - private Reception It just seems so strange to me that it would all be so seperate. I have to talk it over with my fiance but we will probably end up paying for the private cocktail hr. ($540 for 60 guests, no food) then $1700 for the private reception and DJ, $300 to rent equipment for slide show (still need to bring your own laptop) and $540 for 60 guests to have drinks other then beer and wine. I wasn't expecting all these costs, just the $1700 so just a heads up to the other rprm brides. I just think they should tell you things like this when you book.
  2. Hey ladies, these are the shoes I got for our ceremony, they have like an 1 inch heel on them. I am still trying to find fuschia wedges or flat fuschia sandals for the reception. Anyone have any idea where I could find nice ones? I know you ladies are good at finding this kinda thing, thats why I ask....

  6. That's what I think and I wrote Ael back stating that. I don't want to be mean but really why whould they do that? I will let you know what she has to say about that. If you are asking the same about Chili's let me know what Ael's response is. I am interested to find out...
  7. I know you are not trying to be mean Josie and I thank you for being helpful. It just seems like they are starting to pile on a lot of extra costs. I chose this hotel because it accomodates the # of people I needed I got a sheet that says you get your private reception area from 8:45 to 11:30. this is what the sheet said that I got: RIU Palace Riviera Maya Private Dinner at BOTA FOGO Restaurant If you have a group of around 60 people, our hotel can offer the option of a private dinner as follows: Time: You may have Bota Fogo Restaurant from 8:45 to 11:30 pm. Please do your best to be punctual so you have enough time for dinner & dancing. Please note that these cannot be booked separately. Drinks: The Restaurant only serves wine, beer and soft drinks. If you wish to have an optional open bar with long drinks and cocktail on the rocks, the cost is $9 usd per person for the time frame mentioned above. Menu R O D I Z I O BOTAFOGO FROM OUR BUFFET Fresh salads, cold starters and soups RODIZIO MEATS Breast of turkey Marinated pork fillet Chicken drumsticks Arrachera Argentinian sausage Beef Top Sirloin GARNISHES Potatoes and vegetables DESSERTS Buffet of sweets and cheeses WINES White, rosé and red COFFEE SUBJECT TO MODIFICATIONS WITHOUT PREVIOUS NOTICE I sent another email about more questions too.
  8. It doesn't say anywhere you get charged for booze at the private reception and that you only get 2 hours for your dinner & dance. I also didn't think you got charged for the cocktail hour, just if you wanted appitizers, then there would be a charge. I knew about the $1700 for the private dinner, which you do not have a choice about but not paying for extra costs for drinks. Don't you feel ripped off when you are bringing 40+ people to the resort. Shouldn't they cut you some breaks somewhere?
  9. Oh, get this too, at the private reception you have to pay $9 per person if you want to have beverages other then wine, beer and soft drinks.
  10. Okay Ladies, I am a little upset right now. We are paying for the Caprice package which says a dinner is included for the wedding party, but here is the breakdown from what Ael sent me: $1700usd for private reception and DJ $300usd for rental of slide show equipment $9usd/person for cocktail party (we are having between 50-60 people) that is an extra $3000usd Is it just me or does that not seem outrageous!? and to boot you can only have the private reception room from 8:45 until 11pm. What!!?? I am not too impressed. Why do they wait until 2 months before your wedding to tell you this? Maybe I am over reacting....
  11. shellk - Thanks for the list of OOT stuff, I will let you know what I have chosen, it's hard to dedide!

Your help would be awesome, thanks!
  13. I haven't decided on where to have the dinner either. I have to figure out first if we have to have it at one or the other for a private reception with over 50 people. I also emailed a bunch of questions so I will let you ladies know when I get a response. Josie - are you getting a cake topper at all?
  14. Paige2010 - I sent you the email with all the info! This is what the FAQ sheet says about private receptions Private Reception Dinners can only be offered at the RIU Palace Mexico or RIU Palace Riviera Maya during the 2nd sitting 8:30 pm or 9pm, for groups over 50 people. These have an additional cost and need to be booked in advance. I am going to check though because we have over 50 people coming so I will keep you posted.
  15. Yay, this is super exciting Josie!!! I didn't think we would get anything this soon!
  16. Lors03 - Just send me your email and I can forward you all the info they sent me.
