Free postcards are awesome! Where is everyone? I'm new to the this thread Josh and I are getting married May 15, 2010... 5.15.10 I love that date... in Puerto Aventuras which is near Playa del Carmen in Mexico. I see lexibride and sfrench0621 are my date twins. Anyone else? I feel like I've gotten a lot accomplished so why is my to-do list growing? Completed: reserved wedding date and resort picked TA sent out STD have dress and it's altered invites printed... in process of glueing... plan to mail in Jan Have maracas for favors putting together OOT bags with the vows theme (i.e. in sickness and health) bachelorette in Vegas last weekend, fun fun My concerns include 52 ppl have said they are coming but only 7 have booked wedding party hasn't booked my bridesmaid w/ a degree in design offered to design/constructing BM dress... but no progress because she's commuting 4 hours a day My FI is super busy w/ work until Jan My mom is the opposite of overly involved I want to plan decorations but I don't even have a confirmed location at the resort for my reception... and I have to wait till 4 months out.... grrr Does anyone else feel similarly? I'm so glad I found this thread. I feel an instant bond because we are all going through the same stuff at the same time. -

Hi I'm a May bride too! May 15th Puerto Aventuras, MX! I'm so excited only 7 months left I have my dress Almost done glueing my invites Working on OOT bags Wishing all the people who said they were coming would actually commit w/ our travel agent Wishing that I wasn't the only one who thought 7month was really soon Tell me about what going through all you other May brides minds... -
Aug, I'm excited and nervous for you. It's going to be amazing, I'm sure. One tip I read from a destination bride was to provide everyone with a schedule of where the bride and groom will be throughout the weekend. For example, which restaurant you'll be eating at or bar you will be lounging at. Because then they have the choice to hang out or not and the bride and groom don't have to try and spread their time equally because the guests will find you. Also, if any guests are unhappy w/ accommadations/etc even though you'll probably feel responsible, DON'T. Have one of your bridal party/parents help or refer to general manager etc. You don't need that stress. Good luck w/ everything. Can't wait for the pictures.

Meghan and Ginalynn, thanks for sharing your guest booking experiences. Go w/ the flow... go w/ the flow... I'll try and make it my montra. Bridej9-Possibly your wedding coordinator was referring to when the resort first opened. The first bunch of post on this thread are also from when the resort first opened as Dream. They've been open over a year now and it seems as though they've worked the kinks out and hired a second wedding coordinator. P.S. Meghan, I'd love to hear any thing Jacy finds out for you about the cheaper entree options. To be honest, I still haven't contacted Jacy. I've gotten all my questions answered through you girls and my travel agent. Thank you all so much

Wow haven't been on in awhile. Welcome Emily! - I was wanting a rehearsal dinner as well until I heard about Ginalynn's experience (posted in this thread, I think). It sounded really informal so now I'm thinking I'll have the wedding party meet up for the rehearsal and then we'll just eat together... or not. Since everyone is going to b together for at least 3 nights I figure I don't want to make my wedding party eat at a certain resturaunt every nite (like if they really want sushi or something). I figure we'll do all the rehearsal speeches, etc at the welcome cocktail party the night before (i.e. just all meet up at baracuda bar). Reception dinner is a stress because I really want to rent out el patio but I'll have to wait until closer to know if it's available so it's hard to plan table clothes/decorations. I'm hoping to do like echo and get one of the cheaper entree options because we should have around 50 people as well. Who knows though because none of my guests are signing up yet. We sent the STD out in May and 50 people have said yes but only 9 have book the resort. grrr plus none of my wedding party have booked yet. I'm going to send out the invites in January... hopefully that reminds people. Everyone, are you having the same problem getting a head count/guest commitment? I just bought our plane tickets, YAY with travel insurance. We got a 6am flight out of SFO to arrive in Cancun at 3pm. We will rent a car and buy OOT bag stuff and deposible cell phones in Cancun. I want to give the MOH and BMa phone so the guests have contact people (other then me) during their stay. We depart 8 days later at 4:50pm and get home at 11:30 pm. Sorry to hear about the storms. Thanks

I just had some relief from finding and buying my dress, and now I'm debating getting a second dress if I can find one I really like at a cheap price. We're doing a symbolic wedding (although our guests don't know that yet!) and had originally planned to do the legal part when we got back. I just don't want to 'ruin' FI's surprise of seeing me in my wedding dress before our ceremony. Agghh! What to do!??! I was reading on some photographers website her views on seeing each other before the wedding for pictures. She called it the "preview" shot. She loved it because it was a great opportunity to capture the bride and grooms faces when first seeing each other in a very private/intimate moment. I like the idea because it's private and you are both stilll just as excited to see each other. plus I figure my FI won't be as sweaty... poor guy is going to melt in his wedding outfit.

On a happy note, I started buying OOT bag stuff and invites are almost ready to go to the printers.

I'LL TRY TO STOP WORRYING . I love the hanging orchids and white tulle idea! Are you going to use fake or real orchids? As for real or fake orchids... Real = I'm guessing is too expensive for us (I'll ask jacy for a quote) however maybe if I had hanging crystals with a few real flowers (non orchids) thrown in... it wouldn't be too pricey. If I go with fake, I can make ahead of time and add weights to keep them from flying around. If it's too windy we can always tie them back like curtains or have them hanging in the reception area. As for real vs. fake flowers, there is a thread in the decoration section I think... I should probably have started this discussion in one of the decorations threads, however, I want DPA brides opinions because our gazebo is so unique. It's so "tahiti-esqe" I want to soften it with white flowing fabric. I just don't know where to hang it and how much to bring. I guess I have a vision and havent figured out the details. Thanks everyone for being there!

echo, Dang you accomplished a lot! which program did u use to convert word to pdf? i need to do that for my invites too. Thanks Ginalyn, Nice to hear they didn't charge you to sit together at the World Cafe. Would u say the lagoon was that much less windy then the beach reception area? Oh do you have a copy of ur video posted. Biancas post through seemed really bad quality... prob just the video sharing program... im hoping Everyone, I really want to wear my hair down, do you think I can get away with it in May? I want messy curls so I'm not worried about the wind messing up, I just dont want it to b distracting. Do u think there is anyway to put up a wind block or have a bridemaid hold something to block the wind from hitting me and my FI.
