It’s been fun receiving them in the mail. It’s hilarious to find out who is going to the late night playa del Carmen trip…. Like Josh’s grandpa  Josh loves music and came up with incorporating a wedding mix cd in our guest pre-wedding packet. He designed the cd label, personalized the cd jacket with our proposal picture, an engagement photo, the list of songs and words to Drop Kick Murphy’s, Forever, the song for our first dance.
7. Save the dates: As you can see these were made before finding this forum. They are plain postcards. The front had a picture of a snorkeling cartoon couple that resembled us. We add a magnet to encourage people to keep the STD visable. Our colors: after looking at a million destination wedding photos, I wanted colors that would stand out against the sand, blue water and sky. I had a vision of purple and orange. An unlikely combination, I know, which means I had a lot of DIY products. I started by visiting the LA fashion district and picking two fabrics a plum purple satin and and a two toned orange organza (weaved with a yellow and orange/red tread). Theme: I wasn’t into the shell or palm tree theme. My bridesmaid and fiancé came up with bird of pardise Our monogram: Invitations: So I wanted elegant wedding invitations and I was afraid that true plum purple/orange invites wouldn’t make the right impression. So I went with a Merlot and Copper color. These are DIY invites for the most part that ended up costing around $2.25 each including the printing press cost. I got the supplies from Cards & Pockets. I chose the gatecard in New Merlot and copper matting. I used a clip art bird of paradise and designed our invite. I went to our local copy center and had them print the invites using a copper ink on a printing press. FIY set up is the most costly part of the printing press so we had 150 invites done and then 100 card with just the bird of paradise for thank you notes to make it more cost effective. Then I took a ivory ribbon from and wax that can go in a hot glue gun with a “W” stamp. See below. I loved every minute  I had the invites done at least 3 months in advance of sending. Cards and pockets.com provides very nice quality supplies. Bridal shower: Work shower was such orange and purple surprise. And a fun tea party shower. My future in laws threw me an amazing Monsoon Wedding themed bridal shower. Inspired by the purple and orange wedding theme Complete with a toilet paper bride contest
8. I’m so excited that it is finally be able to return some of the creative ideas that I’ve been borrowing for 16 months. I hope you’all enjoy my wedding details as much as I’ve enjoyed looking at yours. I want to thank everyone that I borrowed a template or idea from you are all amazing. Also I’d like to thank my fellow Dreams Puerto Aventuras brides especially Ginalyn who after her wedding stayed to answer all our question and be amazing support. First the Proposal: I surprised my Josh (FI) with a surprise 30th birthday party (ironically Mexican Fiesta themed) and he surprised me with a proposal. And yes he is wearing a fake mustache and poncho. Engagement photos in Napa After hours … okay I’ll be honest… weeks of online research, we decided on a destionation wedding in Mexico in a small town along the Riviera Maya called Puerto Aventuras (50 miles south of Cancun) at a Dreams Resort. I loved the fact that the town was gated and the resort was known for its gourmet food and premium alcohol. It is affordable for our guests and newly remodeled After days of shopping… the rings purchased from Napa Valley Jewelers Josh’s is similar to this picture but with subtle barbed wire… Purchased from Walmart Attachment 4941 Attachment 4943 menu final.pdf cd brochure.pdf prewedding template version 4_EDITED-2.doc
9. So last minute they changed wedding coordinators on me. I have Sandra now. Luckily Ginalyn says she's good so I'm not worried. And actually it turns out that I've communicated more with the concierge then with my wedding coordinator. For example, we wanted a phone number that our guests could call to reach a main wedding person if needed (we didn't want to be the contact person so it's our best man) and the concierge was able to buy us a pay as go phone so we had the number to put on all our welcome packet info. Anyway the reason I'm writing is because I just filled out the wedding questionnaire from Sandra and it mentions that favors delivered to guest's room would be an additional $2 per room. Our traditional favor (maracas) will be given to our guests at the reception but is the OOT bag considered a favor? Was anyone charged for OOT bag delivery?

So I started looking for Steel Drum players who play the traditional wedding songs and I found a guy! If you order the Wedding CD, you get another CD with songs like Margaritaville, One Love...for $25.00! I got the CD's and we LOVE them! The bridesmaids are going to walk down the aisle to One Love and my dad and I will walk down the aisle to the traditional Bridal Chorus. If this is something you're interested in check out the site! 11. I've found some amazing orchids (cut) from trader joes that I'd love to bring to Mexico with me for my centerpieces. Because they can't grew and don't have seeds, I thought there may be a chance I can bring them to Cancun? Does anyone have experience or and idea of who I should contact? Thanks, Adrianne
12. Yay Meghan! I'm so glad you are back and a Mrs. now! I can't wait to hear everything! Congrats Daniela on picking a date! Sorry to hear about your wedding party drama. Sometimes it seems like bridesmaids are more work then they are worth... I'll let you know if I still that way after the wedding.
13. Great job! I love your "out of the box" location and details. I bet the luminaries will look amazing!
14. Everything is very cute. Congratulations and great job on the details!

That doesn't make sense Are you doing a welcome/rehearsal dinner? Does anyone have a budget spreadsheet that would be willling to share I'm trying to figure out my budget and i'm so confused! HELP Thanks m&d, I feel your pain . The wedding guide is confusing. We are choosing the ultimate wedding and adding dinner for an additional 43 people. (We have 63 total). Based on other brides experiences, Jacy the WC is flexible with substituting package items. So we hope to substitute for more pictures and flowers. We aren't going with the silver or gold menu. There are some cheaper dinners found under the banquet menus. We are mixing the Carribean and Mexican buffet to make a specific meal for our guests. It's $35/guest. Our guests get a buffet with 3 appetizers, 3 entrees, and 3 desserts choices. If you have less then 50 guest you can get a served dinner for even less then 35. As for a DJ... we are hoping to use the Desire lounge instead of DJ. We are going to check it out and decide yah or nah on the DJ once we are there. We are taking as IPOD to make sure we have our father/daughter and first dance song. We are doing welcome cocktails at Barracuda bar which should be free. because we aren't reserving anything. After polling the past DPA brides, no one felt like they needed a rehearsal because Jacy/Sandra were so thorough. So we are skipping that. I would love to give you a budget spread sheet! However I ran into the same problems as you are having. What has calmed my nerve is hearing all the reassuring comments from the other brides about the WC being flexible and everything working out well. We know big money items (i.e. the wedding package, the extra dinners and the DJ) and we are just going to go to the resort with an amount of money that we can spend and hopefully Jacy can help us get everything we want for the price we want to spend. If you have any specific budget questions, I'm sure the WC's could answer them for you... however the trend i've seen is that whenever a bride asks in advance she'll get a high priced quote however once they are at the resort sometimes they get extra stuff thrown in (i.e. chair covers, microphone, speakers, etc). Hope this helps. Good luck planning... I remember being 1 year out like you are and worrying about the same things. On another note, my work bridal shower is tomorrow YIPEE!
17. Thanks for all the engagement ring input. I'm still undecided. I'm glad to hear the hotel safe information. Wow Meghan only 1 more day! I hope it's the best day ever!
18. So I'm wondering if I should take my engagement ring. I know I'll want to take it off when I'm snorkeling and when we go to Playa del Carmen to the bars. And I'd worry about leaving it in the room. so I think i'd rather leave it at home however I keep seeing wedding videos and pictures with the wedding ring and engagement ring featured. What are you ladies thoughts? also did the resort wedding video feature the rings? Thanks Meghan, I'm so excited for you! You leave on the 12th right? You are going to have an amazing time!
19. I'm so excited for you Janine! I know your day/vacation will be perfect. Can't wait to hear the details.
20. So many cute ideas thanks for sharing! I hope your day is magical. Oh yeah and your BD pic is super cute.

There is a small outside deck where we mingled, and folks could go in and out if they wanted to. We also had our champagne cocktail hr above Portofino too. There were flowers everywhere, the lighting was nice, and the food was hot. Let me know how I can help! Janna How many guest did you have? Would it fit 60 people?
22. My fiance got his suit. He ordered the very loose fit. His sleeves were shorter then we'd like. Men's warehouse is altering for $20. All in all we are pretty happy. We also bought 6 pairs of groomsmen pants... I let you know if any turned out badly
