  1. Unfortunately, my FH isn't going to the site visit anymore I'm disappointed but nothing can compare to the brides w/ the May/June wedding dates. My heart goes out to you. The whole situation SUCKS. I know there is nothing I can say to make it better but I know we are all just so sorry for your situation and hope for the best.

Janna We'll keep the DPA blog going in 2010! I can't wait to see all the 2009 brides pictures. My FH will be visiting May 9th so hopefully, I'll have more insider pictures/info to add to the blog.

  4. Hello 2010 brides, We decided on Dreams Puerto Aventuras May 15 2010. We like the fact that PA is a small gated community away from cancun. We have most of our magnet STD out. I'm just searching for my dress now. As a read more blogs I'm realizing that stressing about a million details before the wedding doesn't work well at the AI's. I've read all the hotel details and pricing and plan on showing up with a budget and if for example I can't get chair covers or 3 vs 1 appetizer for my budget... so be it. I chose a destination wedding for cost savings and ease but it also means that I can't have as much control as I might like. All in all I think less control, less expectations = more fun.... Any thoughts my fellow wise 2010 brides?
  5. Correction: Dance floor set up $600 for up to 50 people. It better have awesome lighting for that price!

I would like to rent to Dj for 3 hours after dinner so everyone can dance. Is this possible you think to do it this way? I dont want to pay extra for food when there is dinner already included in the room rate. I dont mind if we sit with strangers You can bring your own tulle/decorations for the gazebo. As for the cake, I looked through my DPA info and I'm assuming you have to pay the customized cake fee of $5 per person. The DJ is $190 per hour + 10% tip. I remember some one mentioned a possible charge for the set up of the dance floor. However, after seeing Laura's review it sounds like the sand does just fine.

  9. [quote My niece is having these really cool centerpieces made with lots of palm leaves and fuschia gerbera daisies with bird of paradise. RoryS, I noticed you mentioned a certain centerpiece. Have you seen pictures the centerpieces that the resorts offer? Thanks
  10. Great photos! My favorite part of the decorations was the tulle twisted in the back of the gazebo. I love how it framed the bride and groom. Also, I noticed a bell in the top of the gazebo. I was at a wedding were the bride and groom and all the guest rang the bell at the end of the ceremony. It was a great way to celebrate. I wonder if we can ring the bell? At least once... Carribean trio question: I want steel drums playing Bob Marley songs as I walk down the island. Does Carribean trio mean steel drums? Any ideas?
  11. Budget: I'm just in the planning stages but I'm starting to calculate costs: Dreams Ultimate wedding package $2650 Golden Menu for extra 50 people $2750 5 nights in Honeymoon Marina view(for 2) $1320 Flights for 2 (estimate) $800 DJ 3 hours $570 Total $8090 Yikes we were hoping to keep it under 10K. How much are the OOT bags costing? How about the extra excursion for the guests?

I will probably ask Jacy about that but I just haven't gotten that far in the planning process yet. (Although judging from how long it took her to get back to Bianca, I should probably start a little earlier than planned) I think sharing travel costs for photographer is a great idea! I haven't heard anything about that specific photographer though. Here is the Photo section from the Dreams PA wedding extras page: "Photos & Video Services: 30 pictures and digital CD………………………………………… usd $450.00 50 pictures and digital CD………………………………………… usd $675.00 75 pictures and digital CD………………………………………… usd $900.00" I am hoping that since we get a digital cd we can make as many copies of photos as we want without having to pay the photographer any more money. What do you girls think? I'm probably going to go with the resort photographer plus one of my guests.
  13. Hello everyone, We are also looking into VM. Does anyone know where the the wedding ceremony. Do they have a gazebo? It look like PV dreams ceremonies are on the sand which is not what I wanted. Thanks in advance, Adrianne
