I have not booked my date yet. It has not been released but I keep checking. We do have a certain date we want Dec 1 that will be our 5th anniversary of meeting in person. (meet online lol). I work for CruiseShipCenters, we specialize in cruises but we also are a full service agency. I am really new to the business so every day its a learning experience. I basically work from home and only work in the office on sundays. My biggest fear is people waiting for the last minute and having the rooms or flight sold out, but I guess that will be their fault and not mine. Chris

Wow Carla good information. I narrowed mine down by what paperwork had to be done. I had orginally planned on Punta Cana, but after reading how all the paperwork had to be translated into Spanish, I decided that was not for me. So I took the wedding brochure I had and looked up what requirements were needed for the islands I was interested in. For me Jamaica was the easiest. From there I decided on a resort and read every review I could get my hands on and in the end we decided on Rui Ocho Rios. Good luck with your search

Well I feel better. At work today (work at travel agency but very new lol) I discovered the Sunquest RUI brochure and saw that the brochure was good for May 2008 to December 2009. What a relief I had been worried that when I requested the wedding date for December 2010 in that 3 month grace period Sunquest would not have released the December 2010 rates. Going to be close but I will have my 10 people ready to book as soon as the packages are available in May. Which if the 2010 wedding dates are available sometime late feb or march I should just make it Whew! my fingers are crossed. Chris

My flights & hotel packages wont be released until spring of 2009 for December 2010.

As you can see you are not alone. I am not sure how many people will be coming when its time for deposits but my guess is not very many at all. I just hope I have enough for the free wedding. I have told everyone this is what I want and if you want to join us that will be great and if you can't I understand. Other than my children (2nd marriage for me) I have no family coming. FI right now only has his parents and we have 1 friend couple that has said forsure they are coming. No matter what you day will be amazing! Chris

Thanks everyone, I just hope at least 5 couples are willing to put their deposit down quicker than we thought. We all are going on a group cruise next August and our final payment will be just around the time for the deposits for the wedding. OUCH!

For all those that have booked their wedding. I have spent the last few days reading which seemed like thousands of posts on everything I could find on the ROR. I realize that 2010 dates are not available until early next year. My question is, At what point is it necessary to book your guest rooms. Do you have to have your room booked when you make the date request. I read somewhere about 3 months to hold the date until rooms are booked is this right. Any information would be very helpful. I am just confused right now because I know that some tour operators will not have their dec 2010 rates and packages available when I am able to book my date with ROR. I hope I am making some sort of sense. I will be going with a travel agent (I am a travel agent but very new) and I will be getting a group rate thru a tour operator. I am just worried to reserve my date only to have it cancelled because I have not booked anyrooms at the resort. Also if I have to at least book my room do you know what kind of a deposit ROR requires for the room? Thanks everyone in advance Chris

Hi Carla, I think you have alot done. I started a file system so everytime I see something I like I put it in the file. We have the location finally picked out. Rui Ocho Rios. It took me a while. I spent many hours on trip advisor and going thru all the reviews on this site. I have my invitations picked out and I did find a nice STD I liked but can't find the site anymore how frustrating I thought I saved it in my favourites lol. I may make them. When are you sending yours out. I was thinking 1 year before the date but now I am wondering if I should do it sooner. I have a bunch of pics of favors, decorations etc that I like but not narrowed down. I have chosen 4 dresses that I am in love with, just have to decide closer to the date which one I will order. Have the colours picked out and the style of dress for the MOH and my daughter who will walk me down the aisle. (not sure if I mentioned this is my 2nd time around). Also have pic of what I would like the groom and BM and my son(who is also walking me down the aisle ). to wear. I have even started the guest list. Oh and we have decided to have the steel drum band so I have been busy reviewing different songs. I have a few that I am having for sure. I am hoping to achieve this by april then I am going to really concentrate on firming up the areas that need it. I am planning on going back to the gym next week aprox. 3x a week to start

You can book the wedding thru the resort itself but make sure you phone a TA and ask her to give you the group rate for the hotel and flight. I am a travel consultant here in Canada and I know that you only need 5 or more rooms booked at most hotels to qualify for a group rate. Group rate is alot cheaper than the rates in the brochure!
