I put my deposit down and they didn't even email me a confirmation. I just got the confirmation screen online. I was tired of waiting for the WC to email me back, so I did it on the internet instead. I know they're short a person, but really?

When should I have my shower?
jplovesme replied to JeniferLynn's topic in Wedding Etiquette, Traditions, to dos
I threw my friend's bridal shower one month before the wedding. She asked for it to be that much ahead so she knew she'd be stressed the month of the wedding -
Royal Playa del Carmen Review - A&K

So people stood around wondering what was happening. They then went to go get drinks at a bar, but those who were staying at the gran porto or other hotels were not supposed to be at the bar, so there were issues then and the staff said we had to pay something like $200 for some drinks, which was crazy! We fought this b/c the gran porto guests had upgraded their room, so they had rights to the royal. Anyways it just created some unneccessary frustration and issues that would not have happened if we had just gone straight into cocktail hour. Either way, it will be fine, but just a little annoying. That is kinda annoying (that they had issues with the guests at the bar). Glad it worked out. That's what I worry about with the Royal dealing with non-royal/Gran guests. But thanks so much for sharing! Love the photos, and congratulations! -
Congratulations! Welcome to this fabulous forum! Hope you get lots of great ideas. Happy planning!

Why is most wedding drama caused by family members You can't really do anything, and it's really their problem that they are touchy about this situation. Really, if they have such a problem with YOUR plans and events, then tell them not to bother showing up to them. You don't need their negative energy. I feel for you and your FI. Stay focused on yourselves.

FI and I waited until our MOH and BM had already booked their trips so as not to put too much pressure on them- could he have a reason like this maybe? Or possibly he just thinks he has a lot of time and doesn't realize it's only polite to give some notice. It's definitely inappropriate for you to talk to FBIL's girlfriend about this, though- this is between FI and his brother at the end of the day. I agree. I understand that you are ansy and want to get this out of the way, since we like to make sure our plans are set well ahead of time, but there might be something there that you don't know about that makes your FI extra sensitive. I don't think you should go through the girlfriend, cuz that's kinda tabou. See if the brother officially booked, then u can prod the FI again. Guys are kinda more laid back in a way (compared to us girls), where they think these things aren't as high priority. Good luck!

Congratulations, and welcome to the forum! Hope you find some great ideas here, and hope you're able to share what you're doing this april. Happy planning!

Hi Jen: I'm glad to see you're going to walk in there in person. One of the most cowardly things people do is avoid phone calls. People just don't want to give you bad news, or deal with a situation that is their fault. You tell them what's what, and get them to give you the dress for free! Good luck!

location/weather: have them show you alternative sites in case weather is bad (but u have a decent month during their best season) If you're ordering a wedding package, ask to get the names of the vendors that come with it (photographer, entertainment, florists, etc) so you can research their work. or maybe they have videos of their past weddings, besides the ones posted on their web sites? or they'll have samples/photos of the resorts' vendors' work. OOT bags -- will they deliver the bags to designated guests' rooms? what are their fees for that service? Keep posting questions! I'm sure there's another thread here with more questions somewhere ...

I threw a shower, and it was just family and close friends (total of 25 people). But every person there was going to the wedding.

Wish we had the patience to do the Catholic classes here in our church, but that's what's keeping us from having the wedding at the chapel. We're going to Cancun in a couple months, and The Royal PDC will be one of our pitt stops, if time allows. Can't wait to hear/see more from fellow Royal Resorts brides!
