Everyone wants me to use THEIR Travel agent!
jplovesme replied to AlexsBride's topic in Just venting or funnies
did you set up a retainer fee yet with your TA of choice? I can't really give you great advice, but I am booking TA jennifer (from this forum) to help me out. YOu want to use an agent who SPECIALIZES in DW so that you can get the best deals, and get your questions answered. A lot of girls have used the TA's here, and I've seen great reviews about them. YOu can check out more info from the Travel forum on this site... For me, so far, TA Jennifer is friendly, full of info and super helpful! -

I'm so sorry you're going through this. I think we all have had frustrations waiting to hear back from the WCs. I'm still in the early part of the process, but it's taken up to 3 weeks to hear back from the WC for me, but my date is pretty far off. I've ready that other brides here have had slow responses. Some even called directly to get answers to really important questions. I would try to call if it's something urgent, like a contract needs to be signed/finalized. Or try emailing her one more time. ORRRRR... maybe get the name/contact of her supervisor and copy the WC AND your TA, and ask the same questions and explain that you have not received a response in a timely manner... maybe that'll light a fire under your assigned WC.

Not going all out with decor
jplovesme replied to Megan24's topic in Wedding Flowers, decoration, cake, etc.
At first, I was happy with just doing the minimum (or whatever came with the package). And David Tutera has said that less is enough sometimes, but now I'm considering bringing my own linens, sashes, and such, or using a local rental place for more decor... I may do that if our guest list gets longer. If our booked guests stays under 20, then we're just sticking with the less concept. THen put the money towards the expensive photographer or a TTD session instead. -
I totally agree. stay away from the delicious fruity drinks. Drink lots of water. And good for you -- keep up the workouts while you're there! Don't want your hard work to be ruined by a few days. BUT, I am an advocate of allowing yourself to a treat maybe one whole day during your trip. As long as you jump back into your exercise mode and diet mode asap.

Wow. That is horrible! OK. I'm spreading the word to other bridal message boards of this experience. Sorry about all you're going through. But thanks for sharing.

The best workout DVDs I have ever owned- P90X
jplovesme replied to rodent's topic in Beauty, Exercise, Diet
love this thread! I did P90x a few years ago, and loved my arms and leg muscles ... Once you get used to it, you feel like a total stud. unfortunately, I stopped after a year... I'll be starting up again soon, especially as the wedding gets closer. -
Congrats, Reagan and welcome to the forum!!! Once you get used to "threading" you'll be hooked! Happy planning!

I need some help with how to list his mom and her husband on our programs. I found this idea: Mother of the groom: Mrs. Sue Jones accompanied by her husband Mr. Frank Jones What do you think? One other question...if his father is not attending, we don't need to list him on the program, correct? Thanks for your thoughts! I"ve made wedding programs, and this is what I've used in the past... you can list it as: Mother of the Groom Mrs. Sue Jones Stepfather of the Groom Mr. Frank Jones If your FI is close to his father, you can still list his name, but if he doesn't care, then you can leave him out. FYI, you don't need to follow "tradition" -- it's all up to you and you FI on what you want included. Hope this helps a bit! Have fun!

So you're looking at November? I'm doing the Gran Caribe, I was going to do the Catholic Wedding at the glass chapel (nothing beats its beauty), but we decided against it, since we're not registered in a church here and don't have time for pre-marital classes. But my vote is for the Royal/Gran Caribe chapel. It's above the beach, and that view is amazing. Plus, if it's windy, your guests will be blocked by the glass walls. BUt I do understand your concern for weather...

Don't know if this has been addresssed in this thread yet, but does the Royal/Gran allow us to bring our own linens? Or use an off-site wedding coordinator to bring in flowers, linens, lighting, etc? I thought I saw that we need to pay $100 per vendor not from their resorts... Or do you ladies know if the resort has other linens available besides white?

Not invited to Mexico, invite to shower?

I sincerely hope that people wouldn't think I invited them to the shower to simply get a gift. It's about spending time with friends and family, not filling my registry! What gets me is, do I invite the +1 to the shower?? For example, our good friend's girlfriend who is joining us in Mexico?? +1 to the shower? I don't think so. The shower is for close family and friends - the bride should know and love anyone who is invited. But it also depends on the type of shower. Is it in a restaurant where there is limited seating and costs more per person, or is it in someone's house. Restaurant showers should be restricted, but at a person's house - more can be invited. -
Congratulations, and welcome to the forum! Glad to see it's helping you out! You'll love it here!
