  1. Congratulations!!! Welcome to the best wedding forum! Just do searches in the Mexico/Riviera area of the forum, and you'll find lots of ideas and feedback from other past/present/future brides. Have fun!
  2. if your laser printer loads paper from below (the tray is below), then the cardstock will curl. If you can load your paper from outside, so it feeds straight, then the cardstock will most likely stay straight. I have a Phaser 8560 so my printer prints it fine. don't bother to try to have Kinkos print it, because they will refuse to print on metallic cardstock. You may find a local mom and pop printer, who can give u a good deal. you can bring your own paper that you already bought. just a thought if it gets too frustrating.
  3. here are some font suggestions. Just google them and u may find free downloads: Honey Script Feel Script (Monterey BT is like Feel Script) Sloop Beautiful Caps (the capital letters from Bickham, I think
  4. cogswellgray (to make your text go around in a circle): If you have 2007 Powerpoint, go to Text Effects, under FOrmat, and choose "Transform" - there should be some layouts available to you on how to create words in a circle. Or you can go to the Word Art function (that also exists in Word), and mess around with that function. Hope this helps a bit!
  5. I couldn't find the thread, but here's a link to a site i googled. Wedding favors: how to make wedding fans I've made these before, and I suggest rounding the corners (paper puncher available at Michaels or Joanne's) to give them a more upscale look, and maybe using two satin ribbons on the handles. YOu can download free templates online if you google "wedding fan" or "paddle fan template". hope someone finds that thread for you!
  6. Welcome! I know someone who went to a wedding at Excellence, and said that it was the most amazing resort she's ever been to... Just keep in mind there are some restrictions at each resort, so depending on what type of wedding you want, and who you want to invite, you may find that narrowing it down to 3-5 places may happen quicker than you think. Have fun planning!
  7. I agree -- cutcardstock.com is great if you only need 25 pieces, but I would order from paperandmore.com if you are going to make more than a few reception items (like programs, placecards, menus). If you order 100 pieces, then you may be able to use more of the paper, and not have to order more from the site. YOu can get precut and pre-scored items at Cards & Pockets
  8. Congratulations and welcome! I joined 2 years ago (with the tentative date in mind), knowing I was doing a destination wedding, and our time is coming soon! Never too early!
  9. That dress is gorgeous!! Leave it to Maggie Sottero to make another bride beautiful!
  10. I'm so glad this thread was posted, because I've been getting a lot of timed out screens too. And slow uploads of new pages on this forum. Thanks for the post!
  11. Wow. that's a tough one. I did a google search of blue flowers, and there aren't many (i'm still considering blue for my theme). What about doing an all white bouquet, and having them wrap the stems together in a blue satin ribbon of your choice? Or have them att blue Swarovski crystals to the petals of the white flowers? You can even bring your own rhinestone brooche to add to it... Just a thought
  12. OMG. What a great OOT bag! I love that you embroidered the towels. And all the knick-knacks are awesome!
  13. LOVE those photos (you are a gorgeous couple)! I had seen them on Elizabeth's blog before I ran into this thread! I'm a huge Elizabeth Medina fan, and wish she was available for my wedding, but Thank you Elizabeth for sharing your talent!
  14. Thanks so much ladies!! I'm going to be calling the resorts directly this week!
  15. We know we want to have our wedding date on New Years Day 2011 in Cancun. But our venue of choice doesn't allow booking online for that week just yet. How far in advance can we do this? Will we get a higher price because its so far ahead? Is it better to book via the resort web site, call the hotel, or through a TA? Would a TA be better equipped to give me a quote (and book) so far in advance?
  16. OMG. I'm so glad I checked in on this thread today. Thanks so much ladies, for mentioning the off-site photographer fee. I haven't signed the contract just yet, but I'm bringing an outside photographer just to make sure the pics are gorgeous. I'm currently speaking to Susanna as my assigned WC, so hopefully, she does a decent job.
  17. I'm so glad someone found a steel drum band. Pretty expensive, but I'm not a big mariachi fan. I guess most venues provide sound systems for our ipods, so we'll probably be going in that direction for the cocktail hour. It's that or use one of their soloists -- guitar or harpist.
  18. That dress is gorgeous! High five on getting it for 80% off!
  19. Book of Love by Peter Gabriel. Heard it on last season's final episode of "Scrubs"... it's now one of our favorite love songs! and "When You Say Nothing At All" from "Notting Hill" ... loved it when it came out, but now more brides are starting to use it, so it might be too typical these days.
  20. I'm still in the process of talking with the WC via email on the sites. We MAY do the Gran Caribe because of the Chapel. We're catholic, but here's my question. Has anyone getting married in the Chapel had any problems getting a note from their priest/pastor at their local church?? I was told in an email that the religious ceremony isn't valid in the US... and that most couples marry prior to their arranged date. I'll have to discuss more with the WC, but I'm not sure if I want to go through the whole process of pre-marital classes here. We might just do the gazebo. Seems like we'll have to do a site visit. So any troubles with your local church? What are u doing with your own church to snag that chapel location?
  21. where is everyone booking their dinner cruise? The Real Resorts have a 55 foot yacht welcome cocktail cruise available, but it only allows 15 people.
  22. we're in the process of getting a spot with Gran Caribe's glass chapel -- oceanfront view, and all inclusive. it's the only reason we're choosing the property.
