Try YOUTUBE... I found tons of videos of my resort and try searching weddings at your particular resort (pay attention to the dates though) : )

My maids and I also went shopping this weekend and found the dressess.. Im waiting for the correct color swatches to be mailed before to decide on a color but they suit both girls and were 269.00 CAD each! Oh yeah and I bought another "secret" wedding dress for after the ceremony lol !!

I orgionally booked mine for noon.. Then after talking to my future MIL I tried to change the time to anytime later. I was not able to do it, so will just have to deal with it... It will be fine though I think.. Just have more time for great photo's etc. And it gave me an excuse to buy another more casual wedding dress !!

I Too am forced to get Married at noon and now have no idea what in the heck we will do inbetween the ceremony and dinner.... I think I will take my family and friends for some sort of photo shoot with the photog (when I find one) or ofcourse host a cocktail hour but I still need to contact the hotel (thanks Bachata Bride :-)

I have been to the following places.. Dominican Republic (Hotel - Riu Mambo - Where I will be getting Married) Veredero Cuba (Hotel Club Amigo - SUCKS, DO NOT GO HERE) Cancun Mexico (H10 Riviera Maya - Great Hotel)

Trip advisor is sooo misleading... I wouldn't trust it... For example, I just got back from Mexico, and trip advisor had terrible reviews. Then when we went to booked our last minute trip, the TA said she had been there and it wasn't bad at all.. When we got to this particular hotel we absolutely LOVED it and it turned out to be our best vacation so far to date.... So, I just wanted to let you know that you shouldn't really base your decision on anything from trip advisor. BUT GOOD luck,,,, I too am also getting married in DR... Riu Mambo in Puerto plata and have also already been there and LOVED it... 3 huge hotels on one resort and everything from the beach, food & the entertainment rocks....

I am getting Married in Puerto Plata Dominican Republic as well and HAVE NO IDEA what I need to do for paperwork!! I am from calgary, Alberta Canada. Any information on this would be fantastic.. This is the thing that is kindof freakin me out... lol

Hey check out Unique Wedding Favors - Bridal Shower Favors – Party Gifts and Favors by HansonEllis . . . They have these wicked message in a bottle invitation (which Im going to use for thank you notes, after the wedding) but they are freakin awesome... I ordered one and they are so cute!! so I've sourced out the bottles and will just make them myself!!!! Totally cute though

I am getting married Nov 10, 2009 at the Riu Mambo hotel in Puerto Plata.. I've never been to a "wedding" there but I have been to the resort and we were so impressed with the nightly entertainment, the cost of the tours/ excursions, food, right down to the annoying beach vendors.. We loved it. I live in Calgary I have a confirmed price for my guests of 1610 TI. for one week all inclusive. I feel very comfortable that I won't have to keep EVERYone occupied the entire time as the entertainment during the day and night is fantastic. Check out I think it's called the Iborastar or something like that... I heard that was a fantastic resport as well. We chose the Riu simply because we were familiar with it. GOOD LUCK make sure you post your choice when you make it

Is anyone else out there doing this I am giving out (in lieu of wedding favors) Gift bags to all my guest who are going to make the big journey to dominican republic! If you are giving out these bags what are you putting in them and how much did you pay per item.... Are you going to just make due to the photographer down there or are you bringing one with you? I don't know about the guys who work for the hotel or what their work is like? Have you heard anything about this yet?
