Back from our amazing wedding at the melia cabo real!!!!!
sita replied to sita's topic in Destination Wedding in Cabo
Hi! I saw that you are in England, so I'm not sure if this will be helpful, but I got the flower at Michael's (Arts & Crafts store in the states), and just pinned it into my hair. I have seen websites that do really beautiful hair pins, if you want to spend the money. I happen to be a footwear designer so we were able to get our sandals through our vendor, but I have heard girls getting great deals at Old Navy (again may be different in England) sometimes as low as 2 for $5. Good luck with everything - I am jealous of your Greece wedding location! I'm sure it will be beautiful, Thanks, Sita -

Thanks everyone for your replies! I am still working on getting my review up, and our photographer said she will be posting more photos soon, yaaaay!! (FYI she is located here in San Diego, is incredible and very affordable!) I did my hair and makeup myself - just barrel curled small sections (wrapping hair around curling iron instead of clamping it), hairsprayed the crap out of it and loosen the curls so you don't look like little Bo Peep. Lori L hope your wedding at Dreams is amazing! I've heard only good things :-) -Sita -
So I literally just flew back home last night, but I already wanted to share with any potential Cabo brides that our wedding at the Melia Cabo Real was nothing but AMAZING!!! We literally had zero snags, no disasters, (other than a mini-hurricane the day before our wedding!) and the wedding of our dreams. I will do a full review soon, but if anyone is interested in specifics I am happy to share! I know there aren't many Melia brides, but let me just say we were extremely impressed with the service, staff, food, location, and wouldn't change a thing if we had to do it over again. Hope I can help since this forum has been so helpful for me :-) Just a few teaser pics from our talented friend and photographer; taryn kent photography Thanks everybody! Sita

Hi Ladies! I have a Tacori platinum eternity wedding band, size 4.5 for sale. My fiancee purchased both my E Ring and wedding band together, so I wasn't able to pick exactly what I want (which is something a little more understated) It's a stunning ring, would even look good on your right hand, just too much bling for me! I'm really hoping to find somebody who appreciates Tacori's quality and craftsmanship, and send it off to a good home!! :-) It retails for $2500, but all offers will be considered! Thanks Tacori1.pdf Tacori2.pdf IMG_3598.pdf IMG_3599.pdf IMG_3609.pdf

My heart goes out to you and all the difficulty you have experienced! All I can say is that I feel the strongest people are given the most challenging situations, and we can't acknowledge the brightest of light until we experience the darkest of darks. Good things are in store for you, and they will be so much sweeter because of your past!!

I am doing "Express Invisalign" which means you get 10 and only 10 trays (versus unlimited) but after insurance cost $2200 out of pocket vs $5200. So far after 5 trays at 3 weeks per tray I LOVE the results and can already can see a major difference... I have pretty bad crowding and one front tooth that was crooked, already for only being halfway they have gotten a lot straighter. I also agree with the comment that you avoid snacks because it is kind of a pain to clean, floss, etc. One thing to mention though, you might have to get little white attachments on your teeth (barely noticeable) but they act like "hitches" to move the teeth...I was a little self conscious at first but nobody will notice. Good luck!

Hi Carly! My fiancee and I stayed at the Riu SF in November for a site visit and our personal opinion it is not ideal for a wedding. Although it's a pretty resort, it's giant and had a very party vibe, keg stands by the pool and just massive amounts of people. Food was terrible, wedding coordinator was unfriendly (didn't smile once in our meeting?) and the beach location for the wedding was not picturesque to say the least. We were bummed but I was able to get back to Cabo to do a few more site visits - Melia was first on our list and it was night and day to Riu!! The lobby and decor is much more my style (modern, like W hotels), it's a smaller more intimate hotel and the buffets weren't madhouses, plus the wedding coordinator is extremely professional. We had dinner there and food and service was amazing! We're getting married there Sept 26 '09 and so far I've been impressed with how prompt the WC has been, I just received my decor and flower options and they are stunning! (Riu had to randomly search for some blurry bouquet pix to show me for decor, Melia has sent me 5 or 6 powerpoints from menu options to decor) Maybe we just had an off-experience at the Riu, and I know bride's have had amazing weddings there. But for nearly the same price I think the differences are huge..fyi my fiancee and I are not spoiled snobs and are planning a simple wedding. Good luck and let me know if you'd like any additional info! (sorry for low quality photos, I can't seem to upload anything larger than a few MBs) ~Sita riu sf.ppt melia.ppt

Why is it so darn difficult to buy a house?!?!
sita replied to Mrs. Martin's topic in Just venting or funnies
Let me just say I can TOTALLY relate to your situation. My fiancee and I live in SoCal as well and started looking for a house about a year ago...We have an offer in on a short sale that went on the market six months ago. Long story short, they accepted somebody else's offer, who apparently can't prove their funds. (you'd think they'd have known in six months they would be needing to do this...!!) Like you, my fiancee and I have good paying jobs, good credit, and a decent down-payment but are having a hard time finding something as well. All I can say, is thank god we didn't get the houses we put offers in on last year, because now money goes a lot further, and I love this new house so much more. The right house will come along for you and your growing family, just hang in there!! (I am!!!) -

Shelly - Are you planning on doing a site visit to the Melia? It helped me get a better feeling of what my wedding would be like, and it was good to meet Gabriela in person. I'm pretty low-key however, and not asking for much as far as above and beyond the wedding packages. My girlfriend did set me up with an extremely detailed list to keep in mind when I toured the resort, it might cover something you might not have thought of yet...? I attached both that as well as the dinner menu Gabriela sent me. (she said you have this entire menu to select from for the reception dinner, not just limited to a set menu) Hope this is helpful! Let me know if I can answer any other questions... Sita Plated Dinner.doc Melia site trip questions.doc

Hi Girls, To answer Shelly's question, yes there is a little protected cove that is especially for swimming. There are palapas and hammocks, but it's a little bit of a walk to get to (you can see in the pics there's a pretty big section of sand in front of the resort). Here's a link to my pictures, there are descriptions under most of them. Let me know if the link doesn't work... http://share.shutterfly.com/action/w...8AZs2rdk3ZNmGM I feel like for my budget, Melia is the best all inclusive. Like I said, my fiancee and I stayed at the Riu Santa Fe in December and were pretty disappointed (unless keg stands by the pool and bad food are your thing) When I went a few weeks ago, I checked out Melia and Presidente, and it was an obvious choice that Melia was a whole lot classier. Plus Gabriela, the wedding coordinator has been very professional and helpful. They have 3 wedding packages ranging from complimentary (with min 5 night stay), a $1200, and an $1800 package. I'm choosing the $1800 which includes seated dinner for 24, open bar, decorations (flowers, chinese lanterns, hanging organza linen) champagne, cake, music, bridal bouquet..etc... Hopefully that's helpful! I also have a .pdf of the sample wedding menu if anyone wants me to send it to them... Thanks! Sita

Hi Lexy! I'm actually planning a Sep 26 09 wedding at the Melia Cabo Real, and just got back 2 weeks ago from a site visit. I had actually originally planned for the Riu Santa Fe but after staying at their resort and experiencing their customer service I was NOT impressed. My girlfriend and I met Gabriela, the WC at Melia, Saturday morning for a site tour and the resort is really beautiful! Nothing crazy, but just nice. You have a lot of options for ceremony and reception, and they comp'd a dinner at one of their specialty restaurants for us to check out that night (nice!0... It was a 180 from the Riu, and comparable in price. If you want, I can send you pictures and package information. I even have a dinner menu that the WC sent too... Good luck and hope I can be of more help! The forum has helped me, so hopefully I can return the favor :-) Sita
