My girls picked out their dresses but I'm paying for them, plus accessories, etc in replacement of a gift. They are $100 each and I have 3 girls. My trip is expensive and I got such grief about it that I couldn't ask them to pay for their dresses too. I don't personally see anything wrong with them paying for them themselves but in the situation I was in I thought it was a nice gesture for me to do it.

Are you f-ing kidding? I would just explain to her the preparation that's required for this event. This is giving her the benefit of the doubt that maybe she just doesn't realize it. However, I would not accept an answer of "they aren't the RSVP type". Uh, not acceptable!! I would tell her that she needs to call whoever didn't RSVP and get answers out of them! If she doesn't co-operate I would get the names and numbers if you don't already have them, and pass it off to someone else in the bridal party....or worst case scenario, do it yourself. People are so ignorant sometimes!!! Good luck and keep us posted!

Congrats on the new house....very exciting!! Thank your lucky stars about the bagpipe thing! When we were renting we had people above us that played freakin bongo drums!!! Talk about annoying. They did lessons and then on top of that, they would have "musical get togethers" with pianos, flutes, you name it! Ugh. So happy we have our own house now. lol.

Ashley, I totally relate to the situation you're in. My FI has cut off his whole family with the exception of his grandparents because of his mother. While she isn't physically abusive, she does know how to make someone's life hell and to be honest, I fully support his decision. We would probably be fighting so bad over the drama if she was still in his life that we wouldn't even end up getting married! I think its wrong to force him to mend the relationship with his mother, and girls don't hate me for saying that. I probably would never say that if I weren't in the situation I'm in and hadn't witnessed what I have with FI's mom. If I were you I would be happy that he is looking at the future with you and is happy with his life the way it is. As for the rest of his family, if he decides that he wants to involve them in his life then fine, but otherwise I would stand by his choice. You can't feel bad for not inviting them. Under the circumstances it couldn't have been avoided, KWIM? Good luck!

LOL!!! Billysbride, I totally agree!! I sent a reminder email out months ago reminding everyone to RSVP. I barely heard back from anyone, so whoever didn't RSVP I counted as a NO! lol. Sometimes I think they feel that if they don't formally RSVP then its less disappointing to us when they don't make it. People are funny.
