I hope they are good with makeup or I'll re-do it myself!

I was kinda freaking out how much I would spend on my bridesmaid' makeup. If there is a MAC down the street, then I am going to see if they can get their makeup there! I want to get my makeup done by them as well but I have a luxury package so makeup is included. I'm wondering if I can opt out that or get a refund for it? Does anyone know?

Are you paying for your bridesmaids dresses?
Lady_Di replied to jawedding's topic in Wedding Etiquette, Traditions, to dos
I want to have 2 MOHs and 5 Bridesmaids. I was going to pay for their dresses, make up and hair. It came to a staggering almost 2k after some calculations. I do not know how I am going to choose from 5 bridesmaids! If you guys find any cheap but cute dresses, please let me know! Paying $100 per dress is not an option anymore. My mom will pay for my sister and I don't feel comfortable asking her to pay one more dress. Ahhh! -
I am thinking about using Funever for our photos but not sure if they will deliver on the quality. Is it a one man company? From what the lady told me, there are 4 weddings on the same day and she said that someone booked a 6pm wedding on the same day as mine. My wedding is at 4pm. I'm wondering if Funever has a bunch of photographers. I am going with Claudia Rodriguez but I saw pictures on Funever's website and they seem nice. I am just trying to decide if I should save money and go with Funever since I won't have to pay $200 in vendor fees and have Claudia and her team as guests for reception and go with Claudia for my TTD.

How to Encourage Guests to Book at Host Hotel?

I don't know!!! aghh!!!! Are you really not paying for the guest passes? I've accepted that most of my relatives won't be able to come. I am okay with it. We will host a viewing party at our house (video and photos of the wedding) a month later for all of our relatives/friends who can't make it to the wedding. I am not doing a AHR because it defeats the purpose of having a destination wedding. I guess you can take in comfort that whoever goes must really love you guys! -

I know some of my potential guests will be looking for the cheapest option possible which may not necessarily be my resort. I could just not mention other options, but then I feel I would run the risk of a guest being put out $100+ by not giving them full information. It is not in my budget to cover these day passes and I don't think it is right, considering I would not have put money towards anyone's cost to stay at the resort where the wedding is hosted. That is the same thing I am thinking! In my travel information brochure, I put information about the resort. I also put this, "Of course, you can stay at another resort or a hotel but will need to purchase a day pass to access the resort for the wedding celebrations. More info to come. " Is that a good idea? I have not sent them off yet. I want them to stay at the resort and I'm feeling guilty for wanting them to stay at The Royal/Gran. That is why I picked The Royal/Gran because Gran is cheaper and they can come to my wedding at The Royal. I am not paying for any day passes, that's for sure. -
May 29, 2010 bride here!! I haven't sent out my STDs yet but I made them already. I also made an travel information on the resort and Playa Del Carmen. I just need to print them and buy stamps. I don't have a TA just yet but would want to know how many people will be going. How do I get them to give me a response if I don't have a TA yet? Could I just put RSVP or something like that?

i plan to but it is hard to find a decent but cheap dress! I looked at GoJane website and their dresses looked really cheap. I also found a dress that is on sale right now at JC Crew but still need to look around first. I want to pay for their dresses but they take care of their shoes and jewelry. i'm still undecided if i want to pay for their hair/makeup. -
A wee bit overwhelmed picking a resort...

I'm obviously partial to my resort so I'll tell you a bit about it because it sounds like it may work for you.... It's the Averntua Spa Palace in Riviera Maya Mexico (Same chain as sweetiekris mentioned but this one is in Riviera Maya not Cancun and is smaller than the moon palace). I picked this one because it is half adults and half family so everyone could get a bit of what they wanted. It's all inclusive which was a must for me. Free airport/hotel transfers. They threw in lots of perks...we got a free cocktail hour for booking 10 rooms and will get our whole reception free if we get 20 rooms book. Prices are around $160 a night per person/per person so it seems to be within your budget. There are 2 gazebo's to pick from...one more gardenish and the other looking over the ocean. They have a free wedding package as well as several upgraded ones. I'm bringing in an outside photographer, we just have to get them a day pass so they are counted as a guest not a vendor but I didn't have to pay any other fees outside of that. There is a disco and bars and swim up bars. Anyway, if you like what you hear send me a PM and I can get you more info but for now here is the link to the resort Palace Resorts - Welcome to the Official Site - Aventura Spa Palace adults only resort offers relaxing spa vacations! I thought that was an all adult resort? did you mean family as "families with kids?" we decided on the Royal because its sister resort, Gran is cheaper so any guests of ours can go stay there if they want to. I think it is the cheapest resort i've saw out all of resorts that allow kids and outside vendors. -

I love her videos! I am currently doing her 30 day shred and boost your metabolism videos. They kick my butt EVERY TIME. I notice that my core is more stronger and my tummy is a little bit flatter. She always include core exercises which is a MUST. Love her! -
Cancun PHOTOGRAPHERS
Lady_Di replied to sunitam's topic in Destination Wedding in Riviera Maya, Cancun & surrounding areas
Aw this list is great! I am this close booking with Claudia R and her team. The photos are so beautiful and the prices are reasonable. I wish I could go with del Sol but their prices are outrageous. Claudia R and her team take some beautiful and almost same quality pictures so I am going with her. She has been fast with replying and she seems really nice! -
TightyWhitey, thanks for the photos! I notice that your wedding date was May 29, 2009. I reserved my date for May 29, 2010. Could you let me know how weather is like? I am worried that it will be too hot for my wedding/reception since it will be outdoor! Plus, I don't want any mosquitoes to be celebrating with us either! Lol

Granted...I am the person who always gets bit in a crowd of people, but I was ready to leave just because of the mosquitoes! The one I got in between the eyes was the last straw...haha.. Oh that is why I want to have my wedding in May to avoid that. I am allergic to mosquito bites and I get ugly ugly bites. No thanks! -

We WERE having the weddding at the gazeebo at the Royal and then I was having to do the semi-p recetion at the Gran (so kids could come)...that was okay. However, my travel agent didn't think about my daughter, mom, aunt, and bridesmaid (who is doing my hair and make-up) coming over to my room before the ceremoney to get ready. The thing is that kids are not allowed in the rooms AT ALL, and ONLY guests staying in the Gran Suits (the top two room categories $$) are allowed to be at the Royal outside of the ceremoney time slot. Long story short...I either have to take all my things and go to the Gran to get ready then come back for the ceremoney at the Royal then go back to the Gran for the reception ( alot of walking..lol) OR change my wedding and my hotel to the Gran then move all my things over to the Royal after the wedding for the honeymoon. I know it is not the end of the world, but there are other things that have had to change as well...like wedding time and the room ameneties. I am just frustrated and needed to vent. Sad, Cyndi WHy don't you stay at Gran until the wedding day? I'm sure the check out is like 12pm or so. You guys could get ready then you can go check in at The Royal. This is what I was told if I wanted to use The Royal for my wedding if I was staying at Gran before the wedding day.
