VENT: Step mom says, "They might not make it"

My mom contributed money towards the wedding and she would be very upset with me if I paid for his trip. The way I see it, he made that choice and he has to live with it. We're not going to let it ruin our day! That does make sense. He will regret it when he sees your godfather giving you away! Enjoy your wedding day, no matter what! -

As I've said in a previous post, they've known about this since June 2008 (1 year & 4 months). Since we got engaged, they bought a manufactured home and a tent trailer. I'm trying not to be upset at someone who clearly doesn't give a shit about the most important day in my life. FI and I are totally doing our DW our way and I'm going to ask my godfather to give me away. I know he'll be tickled pink to do it. If my dad figures out a way to come, he can sit and watch for all I care. I'm sorry for my babbling post. I'm experiencing so many emotions now I don't know where to start. Thanks for listening ladies. gosh, im so sorry to hear that! is there a way for you guys to pay for his trip? -

For anyone that got in touch with Sharon, how long does she usually respond to emails? I emailed her yesterday about getting a sample but no reply. Maybe i'm just being too impatient! haha -

I'll see what they think though because I'd really rather have them buy something they can wear again - that's why I'm now in love with VS dresses!!! I'm buying all the shoes for both my bm's, FI and the gm from Dessy Accessories and you can have the girls flip-flops custom coloured to match your dresses, or at least accent them in whichever colour you want. There are three calgary bridal stores listed that they work with so you could probably check with one of them to see if they have the colour swatches in store to compare? I don't know that for sure yet though but will have to check myself once we know our dress colours... i bought two of VS dresses and i did not like them. they definitely showed the panties lines so the girls would have to wear thongs. they also showed my stomach which isn't exactly attractive. so i went with another dress at Macy's. so i would recommend you to just buy that dress and see how it looks...if u dont like it then you just return it, only losing the $$ for shipping & handling.

Help! Bridesmaid Gifts!
Lady_Di replied to ddiinnyyeell's topic in Wedding Etiquette, Traditions, to dos
I think I am going with a friendship bracelet with their intitals enraved and a tote bag. I already paid for their dresses and am in process of paying for their sandals. I think I may pay for their makeup/hair the day of the wedding. Maybe I don't need to get them gifts if I am paying for their dress, sandals, makeup and hair?? What do you think? -

As brides, its so easy to get caught up in the need to know mentality, especially when looking at preparing OOT bags and making decisions on outings. But as an invited guest, they are just looking at weighing the financial implications with the obvious great time they will have. Many people can not make this decision so far in advance, and need to see where they are at financially closer to the actual date. Hopefully though, you will get that feedback and be able to at least know how many guests are thinking of coming and estimate how many you will have. If you need to adjust the number a couple weeks before the wedding day, the resorts and tour operators will have no problem accommodating you on a couple weeks notice. As for yout OOT bags, buy 5-10 extra items beyond your estimate. If you don't use them, you can always try selling them to another BDW member after your event. I hate to see you lovely ladies stressing over your RSVP's, with still so much time left before the wedding. There's not much you can do about it, so there is no sense in worrying. It will all come together in the end, and as long as you and the grrom say your vows, that's what ultimately matters, right? Your guests will have a great time regardless of if they didn't get an item in their OOT bag, or missed out on a tour. It's ok to lay out an expectation to return your RSVP's by a certain date, but I really advise against pressuring your guests too much. They have to sacrifice time and money from thier own lives to attend your event, and you may come off as unappreciative of that if you begin making demands. great post...it is easy for us brides to get caught up with our planning and not see it from the invited guest's point of view!

Apparently I am doing a vent before my wedding :(

Her husband is refusing to come, says it's a waste of money (WTF That's a whole new story...). She was concerned about paying extra and staying alone so I told her she could bring a friend, her cousin, her mom...whoever to take his place! yeah this is a good idea! encourage your friend to bring someone...he sounds like a LOSERRRR. -
I just don't want people to be booking like a few weeks before my wedding because I want to surprise my guests with a catamaran the day before the wedding and I can't reserve if i don't know how many people will be coming and i also definitely don't want to pay for people who won't show up after RSVPing yes. I am debating if I should be straightforward in my invites which will be sent out early Jan, something like "you will not get a dinner plate if you do not book by April" i dont know if that will be considered rude or tacky!

Booooo! My FMIL was not supportive at first but now she accepted the idea that we are going to get married in Mexico, regardless.
-
i am in the same boat as you...as of now, no one has booked. it is just me and my fiance and it's almost 7 months from now. i sent our STDs in august and i'm not gonna stress about it until i send my invitations in january THEN i am going to stress about it.
