  1. Does anyone have guests traveling from the UK? We got an awesome rate from Toronto, but I am wondering how much our UK travelers are going to be paying. I am hoping it's not too pricey.
  2. Heya, I'm also October 09 bride. We've already started planning. We booked at Azul Sensatori departing on September 29th (wedding date is Oct. 3rd). Because we're having a massive reception when we get back, we had to make some progress on the planning front there too. Basically all we've done is select / book a resort, schedule our wedding day, create a wedding website, and design our boarding pass invitations. When are you getting married? Have you decided on a location? So far I have been enjoying the planning. Hopefully that won't change. I think you can never plan too early. But with DW's you don't always need to plan far ahead either since it's a little more casual. Welcome.
  3. I find that kiddies gravitate towards one another at weddings and ending up creating their own little parties, which keeps the parents happy and prevents boredom (which is the primary culprit to the onset of a meltdown). I have 2- 4 year olds (twins) so I know... The best thing you can do to prevent the kids from getting bored and acting out is to keep them busy. Maybe set up a kids table or designated area with lots of stuff for them to do (colouring / little toys / play doh / drinking boxes / fun finger foods). You can't really prevent babies from crying or getting colicky, but kids are easier to manage at a wedding. My girls start to get weird around 10pm though, so most parents wouldn't want to stay right until the end. Good luck. I'm sure it will be great!!
  4. I think weddings sometimes bring out all the family drama. I don't know why, but they just seem to have that effect on people. The best thing you can do is keep that beautiful smile on your face, be firm with your decisions but don't let anyone take away your power. If you try to please the family you'll be the one who is miserable in the end. It's your day! Honor your relationship by being true to it and doing what represents your relationship best. My experience with DWs is that all the whiners and b!tchers are the ones that have the best time when they finally cave and go to the wedding. Then they apologize for being so horrible. Keep rockin' with your plans sister!
  5. Wow thank you Amarillis. There's lots of ideas there I was also thinking that something with a pinata might be cool. Similar to the Great Canadian Whack Off... only it wouldn't be fair to the people in the beginning (before the pinata really gets smashed). So, still have to think about that.
  6. The iPod option would at least give you more control over your timing, play list, announcements and song selections. It would be very difficult to work with someone who doesn't speak any English, especially if something important needs to be communicated. Eeeeek... I'm thinking iPod!
  7. Abby you're a superstar!! Thank you so much for posting those photographs. It is greatly appreciated!!!
  8. Reeeeally good points!! A lot of brides will feel better to know these things I think. Even I was wondering how I got such a good deal, but now that I am reading that Toronto is the cheapest departure city it sort of makes sense. 9. Thanks ladies. I can deal with that! I was kind of hoping that kids were going to stay and eat free. But I didn't want to sacrifice booking at an awesome resort just because of that. Half isn't bad at all.
  10. We will be doing a Jack & Jill to raise money for our wedding / reception but I want to do something a little more creative and a little more original than the usual Jack & Jill's that people host. Does anyone have any ideas for unique themes / games / or events at a jack and jill party? I was thinking a Mexican theme might be cute... but I am wondering about some unique games or something, or even something totally out of the box and different. Any ideas? Or does anyone know of any online resources I can scour? I still have plenty of time. I am just collecting ideas at this point. Thanx
  11. Thanks for adding me to the list I have a question that I am hoping someone can answer. Do you know if the SKY Wedding Package is $1700 when you are already qualifying for the free (sweet) wedding package, or is it $1700 plus the purchase of a silver or gold package? I'm sort of confused by their positioning. Thx!
  12. Congrats!!! I was torn between Sensatori and Fives. I loved the look of Fives. It was pretty much price that helped me decide on the Azul Sensatori. Our wedding is in October too (the 3rd). Are you doing a site visit?
  13. Hi Everyone, If you booked at Azul Sensatori, do you know how much kids are? I have a few children in my party between the ages of 3 and 9. I forgot to ask the agent and she's on vacation. Just wondering... I know they're not free, but I'm hoping they at least get a reasonable discount. Anyone know?
  14. Our guests are paying $1155 + $326 (taxes) = $1481 This is flying from Toronto to Cancun Staying at the Azul Sensatori in the Riviera Maya for 1 week I think our agent got us a killer deal because I priced it out with another agent and it was $400 more!!
  15. Just ordered some! I am designing all of my own invitations, STDs, thank you's, table cards and everything!! I tried to create some monograms, I did like 20 of them and couldn't decide on one I liked, so when I saw your site and noticed a few monograms I reeeeally liked I decided that ordering one would make my life a WHOLE lot easier. Great stuff. You are very talented! It's nice that you offer other printed services that compliment the monograms too! Thanks Again! Selina
  16. Woohoo fellow Azul brides! So happy to have found you all. We're getting married next October (the 3rd) we arrive on the 29th of September. I have to read through this thread properly, I have only scanned it, but I am a bit scared now by some of your posts. I am really looking forward to hearing the stories of you gals who are headed over there shortly either for a site inspection or for your wedding. I hope that you will post your pictures and stories for the rest of us to look at with excitement and anticipation!
  17. Hi Everyone! My name is Selina. I am new to these forums. My fiance (Tony) and I are getting married next year in Mexico. We leave Toronto on September 29th and have requested a October 3rd wedding date (still TBC by resort). We're headed to Azul Sensatori. We're pretty excited, but also nervous because it's a new resort (not even open yet). It looks breathtaking! When we return from Mexico we'll be having a massive reception here, which is actually more stressful to plan than the wedding. LOL! Can't wait to meet you all and hear about your DWs!
