  1. Thanks!!!! I will go check Michaels out with some coupons
  2. As long as they do not get the impression you are taking "samples" down to sell, etc you should be fine.
  3. Has anyone found any cute small tote bags? I do not have big things to put in my Welcome bags so I am afraid if I use a big tote they will just look empty.
  4. Rhonda I love those bags, thanks for the info. I just worry they will look empty b/c I am not putting in big things in mine.
  5. What is the material like on the bags? Are they prett sturdy? Thanks for the info!
  6. Wow thanks! This looks perfect for the books I want to create for the kids Thanks for sharing!
  7. You should be fine if they are in checked bags. When you are flying in you have to fill out the paperwork for customs and it asks you questions about what you are bringing in, if its value is over a certain dollar amount, etc... We did this for my friends wedding and had no problems.
  8. Not sure if anyone has posted about this...but Target has totes in there dollar bins for $2.50 right now. My Target had black, navy blue, olive green and hot pink. They are not the best quality, a little on the thin side, but they are perfect for Welcome Bags.
  9. Congrats Kate! Looking forward to hearing about your big day dushantz, Playa Fiesta is absolutely beautiful and Lindsay and Adam are wonderful to work with. Lindsay has been more than helpful with my planning process so far! The high tax and tip is everywhere I looked in Mexico. The deciding factor for me when chosing a location was that I wanted something private...not somewhere where all the other hotel guests would be curiously watching our ceremony and reception. Playa Fiesta offered that privacy level. I am doing a 4 night package during the week...that way the rates for my guests were lower. DB2B- the only reason I have such a high flower budget is b/c i have 7 bridesmaids and a flower girl. I think $400 for a bouquet is a lot too. I am going to ask Lindsay is my BMs bouquets can be a little smaller to cut costs. I would rather spend the money elsewhere What are you guys planning for your ceremony music?
  10. Hi dushantz! There are many different options available to you at Playa Fiesta for your ceremony and reception so you can customize somewhat for your budget. Different meals (sit down or buffet), music options, bar options, ambiance options etc... There are only a few things you have to have (like the DJ and wedding planner fee). Honestly, the best way to cut the budget is to have a smaller group, but that is hard to do. The expensive thing is that you have to add 15% on to everything and an additional 15% tip to all food and bar items. CRAZY!!! DB2B, I was also shocked at flower prices and they have recently gone up more. What kind of flowers did you ask for? I cannot figure out why flowers that are grown there are so damn expensive. I have not gotten a flower qoute yet but I am trying to keep it basic because I figured that a mixed bouquest with the flowers I wanted would probably cost a fortune. I am using rannunculus for my and my girls bouquets and roses for the table centerpieces. Not sure how expensive it is going to be. I am also going to bring the ribbon I want the bouquets wrapped in and I found a place that sells the bouquet jewelry (crystals) at a good price so I will just add them in myself. I am budgeting $3,500 for flowers, who knows I could be way off. If rannunculus are too pricey I will just have to use all roses. I guess I just have to wait for a qoute and cross my fingers.
  11. HaHa, I know we are spoiled in San Diego weather wise. I lived in New York on the snow belt for four years, I know 60 is nothing but it is cold if your expecting sunshine not rain and have no coat or long sleeves. Thanks for the info about the vases Kate.
  12. Kate- make sure you bring a coat to San Diego because we have had rain and a cold streak the last few days. It has been in the low 60's which is pretty cold for us for this time of the year. The weather has been all over the place. Last week was in the high 70s.
  13. Kate, I loved your tall rose bouquets, thay were gorgeous! Did you bring in your own vases? I wanted to do something like that but when I saw the cost of the small standard rose centerpieces they have on the webpage I figured that size would cost a fortune! The next decision I need to make is music for the ceremony and I am torn. Has anyone had or plan on having the guitar players?
  14. Happy Wedding Day! Can't wait to hear about it
  15. Costco will definately be great for OOT bag fillers. Makes it easier than having to cram everything into our suitcases
  16. You might check the hairstyle magazines. They tend to have all types of styles. There are even ones that are solely focused on wedding styles.
  17. DB2B, my parents, fiance and I did a scouting trip to Playa Fiesta las November. I had read all about it on trip adviser and different websites but we were all very pleasantly suprised at how beautiful it is in person and how friendly and welcoming the staff is. We loved it there and cant wait for our friends and family to see it!
  18. Hi Mel&B, I also scaled back my original vision of table settings. I realized I would have to buy and carry over chargers, black vases, napkin rings, etc. and decided to just bring in table cloths and napkins to match my color scheme. Are the chairs you are getting black and white or brown and white? I could not tell exactly from Kate's photos. Kate thanks for the tip on the steamer in the suite, I was considering bringing a handheld with me for the tablecloths and dresses. Was anyone else taken back by the cost of flowers there?
  19. Thanks for all of the great info Kate! And nice to meet all of the other Playa Fiesta brides I have not made a lot of decisions yet but here is what I have so far: Package Dates: November 23-27 - 4 nights We are doing D&E package number 1 Colors: Black, white and pink Bridal bouquet: white rannunculus Bridesmaid (all 8 of them ) bouquets: hot pink rannunculus I am having black and white pattern tablecloths made and would like to have hot pink flower centerpieces - not sure about what kind yet. Yep, thats about it on decisions made How are you guys planning on getting your dress down there. I am hoping whatever I chose will fit in a garment bag for carry on, but if not then I dont know what to do, check it??
  20. Hi Kate, I just viewed your slideshow and everything looked AMAZING! You can tell you were a very happy bride I absolutely love how you custimized everything and am relieved to see there are other brides who strayed from their usual packages. Sometimes I feel like I might be driving Lindsay nuts asking to change things. I loved the chairs you used for your ceremony and reception...did they get new ones or did you special order them? I am bringing in my own table cloths and napkins and those chairs would look perfect with my black and white décor!! Did you bring in your own table cloths? If so, how did you transport them? Do you mind if I ask what meal you chose for the wedding reception? Judging by your review, you and your guests seemed to really enjoy it. What about the meals you chose for the other nights? Were they as good as the wedding meal? I am trying to decide on wether we want live music for the ceremony and/or cocktail hour. How was the mariachi band? Did you pick what songs they played? Do they play slow, romantic music for the ceremony? When I think of Mariachi music it is more on the lively side but I am sure if Lindsay reccomends them for the ceremony they must be good. Sorry to ask so many questions, I am just so excited to have someone to discuss these things with!!!
  21. Hello, I'm Lindsey and I am getting married at Playa Fiesta the last week of November 2009. I'm really excited and am just in the beginning stages of planning. Kate- your review made me even more excited to get going on the planing process. I could not get the link with the pictures to work, but i will try again later. I have a lot of questions and would greatly appreciate any pointers or guidance past Playa Fiesta brides might have to offer!
