December 2009 Brides!
J&MWedding replied to *Nadine*'s topic in General Wedding Planning Information
We should almost make a thread about our "hidden clothes"....hahahaha!!! That is hilarious we all have a bag/bags of clothing in our closet just sitting there with price tags, i love it! I'm trying to cut myself off, but then I see something cute, and I'm "oh, I need that, totally need that for the week" - how many dresses can you possibly need for one week?!!!!! I'm starting to think I might need to go to rehab for my wedding/honeymoon shopping! That sounds fun Autumn! I'm doing a welcome cocktail hour at Rendezvous Bar on 12/2 I think at 7 - but a lot of guests aren't coming until Thurs 12/3 (just work reasons etc). I wonder what the rehearsal is like at Dreams...? I bet Rebeca does it in the morning since they usually have weddings almost every day of the week! Bandeau tops - I found really cute ones at Target, but they were sold out of my size top and the VS tops prob won't fit my chest - the ones with the ring in the middle don't work for me. I figured out I need the ones that are straight across and tie in the back. I think there's one I found on VS that does that and I might take a chance that it will fit....hoping! Oh, it's getting really exciting! so close! -
Hey girls, I was wondering if anyone had any draft of any pre-wedding reminder letters for Dreams....? I was going to get those free post cards from VP, but there wasn't enough room for me to get the info on it, so I just picked up paper and envelopes from Office Max that had palm trees and lawn chairs on it and it was only about $14 for all of it. So, I was planning on either sending out reminders once people book, or sending them all out in October? What do you girls think? I think I should send them out as people book, because then I can remind them about their passports in enough time in case they need to renew them or anything. Here is what I want to put in the letter: -Thank you (obviously) -Passport Reminder -PVR airport info -Dress code for each restaurant -Brief itinerary Can you girls think of anything else I'm forgetting?

Before or After???

So do we get married first legally and get it over with or do it when we come back?? I just want to make the walk down the isle to feel as real as possible. Thanks You basically said exactly what I was thinking!!! literally, word for word. Some of our family have found out we are doing something legal before we leave (probably because I'm not a good liar....) and we REALLY don't want anyone to know anything. Any suggestions on what to tell them....??!!! -
I also used Butterfly Enchantress from Etsy! She was awesome!!! My flower came in and it looked and felt real! I actually had to smell it to make sure it was fake. I highly recommend using her on etsy.

Quote: Did my BD session this weekend. It was pretty nerve racking and I have no idea how the pics will turn out. The photog was super cool and kept saying they all looked good so I guess we'll just have to wait until she sends me some teasers! Also, the big break-thru from this weekend is that we decided to have our annual Crazy Christmas Sweater Party in Puerto Vallarta during the wedding weekend. I am super stoked about it. I'm going to put the info in our pre-wedding brochure and we'll probably meet and hang out at one of the hotel bars then go dancing in town and just be really obnoxious - LOL. Jill - your group is welcome to join us on this escapade I have about 10-15 more must haves for the wedding. My FPIL haven't even booked yet, and that right there, is at least 8. I just talked to my friend forever today and she is going to book next week she said. I can't wait to see your BD pics!!!!!!!!!!!!! Autumn, Isn't it going to be crazy when we get to PV and we'll all be there together!? and we met over this forum?! What day are you guys coming in? and let me know what day the sweater party is! A sidenote.....I've been collecting clothing for this trip for months - just picking up little items here and there and I have quite the collection! I'm so excited about the wardrobe! hahah!!!!!!!!! Now, if anyone knows where to find bandeau tops (no tan lines for me...) then I'll be set. I need to find at least one more bathing suite. I've done hours of searching over the internet, but a lot of things are just out of stock, or don't fit me.... -

She also told me that the balance isn't paid until the day after the wedding, that we sit down and add it all up and then pay her. That worries me a little, that all these expenses will come up randomly. I just plan on being strict with her when we sit down and making sure everything we have set doesn't change during the actual ceremony night.

All sensible eating went out the door for me because I was so focused on getting everything ready. Also, in a tropical climate, you won't want your dress to be super tight. I had my MOH loosen mine twice throughout the night because it felt like the dress was shrinking on me. Just a few things to think about. Kristy, I totally know what you mean! I figure with all the bridal showers and bachelorette parties (not just my own...) it will be hard to lose much more weight. I def agree. And that is a good point, with the humidity, it will be nice to have it a little loose. When I tried it on yesterday, I was already getting a pretty hot underneath and this is the CA coast and it's only 70. I figure worse comes to worse, I have to pay someone to hem the dress so if I have to have them take it in, it would be less of a hastle to do that than trying to sell and buy something new.

So, I tried it on yesterday for the first time in a long time. I tried it on with my undergarments, accessories, the whole shebang! I love it, it fits, it's comfortable, I love it. This is a Sottero and Midgley which I can't find on their website anymore (thinking its' discontinued) and it has a detachable train. The photo doesn't show the details with the applique lace and beading on the train and the back, but that train can be snapped off after the ceremony which is nice. The problem is....look at the back! it's almost as tight as it will go! I bought this dress Nov 09 and I've lost about 26 lbs since - and plan on losing a little more. Since it was a tie up back I wasn't going to plan for those types of alterations, but I guess I might have to. Or, if it doesn't fit, sell it? and buy a new one? I can sell it for cheap since it was a sample sale. Here's the pic (please ignore my grandma's house in the background and Big Brother playing on the TV) hahaha!

I just have so many people telling me they are coming - probably at least 20 more guests, and they still haven't booked. I'm like, "what are you waiting for?! I don't think rates are going to get any cheaper!" I have learned that when I just stop worrying, that is when guests book. We sent out about 180 invites, with 19 "No"s and "22" booked -

This is the second marriage for both my FI and I, and we wanted something different. Since we weren't going to do the anullment process we weren't getting married in the Catholic church. But we both fell in love with the idea of a destination wedding. With all the stress we are under right now, I kind of just wish I would have eloped! ( Wow! I feel for you if that helps at all! I know we all have our heads up and we think positively, but it's good to have a place where we can let it all out too, right? For my fellow BDW brides, I have vented and worried more to you girls than to my own MOH, FMIL, mother. I don't know what I would do without this forum!

Between my parents, bride & groom, and groom's parents, we were all going to sit down and sort of work out a budget (in our family, the trend has been to split it three ways...) but we never sat down and my parents just started pitching in where they could, and now it's 4 months away and I had to sit down and write down the important totals and give them to my mom, I was thinking well, you never asked for a budget in the beginning, so I tacked on a lil extra just in case. My FI and I have already paid everything off for our honeymoon in Belize ($2700) and our stay at Dreams PV ($2300) so my mom really doesn't want us to pay for anything else. I already have my MOH's dress ($50) and present ($100) plus hair style at resort, and GM attire ($175) and I started purchasing OOT bag stuff - pretty much all done, we are doing the maracas from Mishka in PV for favors ($4.25 each so total about $200) Our airfare was free because my mom had miles. My dress was a sample sale Maggie Sottero - ($400) haven't done alterations yet! The main things.... Catering at Dreams ($2650 for first 20 ppl, and prob $1350 for additional 30 ppl) Photog Paulina ($1250 for 6 hours already paid $500 deposit) DJ ($630) Floral ($200-$300) So, parents don't have much to come up with I guess - about $6000 or so. I know all the little things add up, like jewelry, hair, decorations, special added touches etc
