  1. Beautiful... We stayed at the Majestic Colonial for a wedding and it remains the best AI resort we have ever stayed at. The Elegance looks as though it will prove to be just as good, if not better than the Colonial. Thanks for the pictures!
  2. It must depend on the resort. We are getting married at the Melia Caribe and we have a fire dancer booked and it is costing us $250.00 for a 10 minute performance. I agree with Varia, it is well worth the money!
  3. Wow...what a inspirational story. *Sigh* I have actually teared up a bit. Congratulations on finding true love again and on your upcoming wedding! Oh, and WELCOME to the forum!
  4. Honestly, I didn't even think of that option...DUH! I'm so silly sometimes! Thanks!
  5. I just wanted to vent a little and "hopefully" get some words of wisdom from the BDW brides from the U.S.. I am trying to coordinate travel for my photog from OH. I have been checking prices online and cannot believe the difference in cost of travel from the States compared to that in Canada! My guests leaving from Toronto are paying $1300 pp (taxes included) for a full week in Punta Cana...it is about the same amount of money for a flight out of OH for only 4 days/3 nights! And that's not even taking into account the exchange rate! I thought that maybe it would be cheaper finding a package for a week but the rates go up like $600 more pp. It's just really frustrating because I want the best travel arrangements for my photog (no overnight lay overs, less than 2 stops etc) but without breaking the bank either. Maybe I'm just not looking at the right travel providers properly? I've checked out Apple Vacations, American Airlines Vacations, US Airways Vacations...just to name a few. Are there other tour operators in the U.S. that offer chartered flights? My TA is has not been able to be very helpful as she only has access to Canadian Tour operators such as Transat, Sunquest, Sunwing etc. Anyway, thanks for listening...I know I'll find something eventually (I have 7 1/2 months to go). Any direction you guys could send me in would be more than appreciated!
  6. Brrrr...and here I thought we were freezing here in Ontario at 2 degrees...I am confident that spring is just around the corner. The sooner the better!
  7. Your pictures are gorgeous! And your little girl is just absolutely adorable. Congrats!
  8. bcbride - That dress is so stunning. Congrats on finding "the one".
  9. My cousin got married a couple of weeks ago and at the end of their vows they were set to do the unity candle ceremony. The minister gave the groom a box of matches, he lit the match but the candle wouldn't light! The match that he was holding burned down close to his fingers and burnt him a bit. Still, being the loving groom he is, he tried again...to no avail. My cousin grabbed the matches and the same thing happened to her. The minister managed to light the candle (after what seemed like the longest 5 minutes) and started saying the words for the unity candle ceremony....the candle flickered out but she didn't notice....my cousin whispered to her that it was out to which the minister replied, "Oh, well let's just pretend that it is". With that, my cousin and her groom picked up the side candles, pretended to light each with the middle one as my cousin was laughing so hard there were tears running down her cheeks! The whole congregation was laughing with her!
  10. I voted #4. Of course, I'm biased as I did try that one on and it is VERY flattering...it makes your waist very tiny!
  11. Hi Christina! I don't think that the natural shown in the linen pants is ivory at all. (BTW, great find!) Ivory is more of an off white and the natural looks more like a light beige. I think that it will be fine, unless of course you are wanting the monochromatic look? I think they will look great together! Hope I've helped some
  12. Great pictures! Your dress is soooo gorgeous. It suits you to a tee! The groom and groomsmen don't look to shabby either! Only one more month...Congrats!
  13. OMG! Talk about an experience. I live in Toronto Ontario Canada and they had it on one of the News Channels here. My FI and I were in awe and completely amazed at all the crowd running into the store! We were laughing because one of the news clips showed a bride trying to pull a dress right from another brides arms! LOL. Good for you for doing that! I'm so happy you found your dress and what an amazing price! Congrats again! It is a beautiful dress! You will look stunning on your wedding day!
  14. I love the french bustle...it suits the look of the dress. I would agree with the seamstress, if you did an English bustle, it would take away from the detail on the skirt. BTW, you look absolutely beautiful in your dress! It is gorgeous!
  15. Beautiful pics! My favorite is the one with you and your hubby lying in the sand! Thanks for posting them and congrats on your wedding!
  16. That's exactly what I will be doing. I am only having a MOH and BM as well. My 10 year old daughter is a flowergirl/jr bridesmaid but I want her to walk me down the aisle. She told me that "Grandpa" should be the one escorting me. However, as this is my second marriage, and a super non-traditional ceremony, I want my daughter to be the one to "give me away" to my FI, her step-dad, and stand with us as we exchange our vows. So, we have decided that my Dad will walk me down half way and give me to my daughter and walk behind us to take his seat and have her walk me the rest of the way, take my FI's hand and then give it to me. I think that it's a great way to include your son in the wedding. I too have also considered having my father and daughter walk me down together if it won't work out with the original plan.
