  1. Welcome Desiree! My fiance and I looked at both Riu Palaces for our wedding, but ended up choosing Moon Palace instead. We thought Moon Palace had a better wedding program than Riu. However, we've stayed at 3 Riu Palaces around teh Caribbean and we think it's gorgeous and destination wedding worthy =)

  4. hey everyone! just a quick update. As of October 15th, i am officially booked to marry at Moon Palace! My fiance and I signed the contract and sent it right away. Here are my wedding details: - Catholic Ceremony at the Chapel at 2pm - Cocktail hour from 4-5, location TBD - Dinner reception at 6pm at one of the smaller ballrooms. - we are hiring the resort photog, but considering Tamms Photography - upgrading our wedding cake at the resort (i actually like the cakes they offer) - flowers and decorations from the resort i ammm sooo excited!!!!! i am a little worried because we don't have 1 year to plan our wedding as most brides do. however, i am soo happy that things are looking up. we are a bit crunched on time, but i didnt want to wait a few more months to marry my fiance! our save the dates are being sent to our guests. most of our family and friends already know when the wedding is. we are sending STDs just for formality =) thank you everyone. you guys have helped me so much! i can't wait to post more updates as my wedding comes near.

Of course my mother in law is booked already and my daddy 2. most of my wedding party are bookng it this week.I'm also doing a wedding sildeshow but I'm not sure of the cost does anyone know? Thank's for your time ladies , Oh P.S Who else is getting married on april 27,2009 I saw that there are three other weddings the same day mine is at 5pm there's a 3,4 and 6. I am getting married there April 24 at 2:00 p.m. in the Chapel for a Catholic ceremony =) I want a white horse!
  6. welcome and good luck!
  7. good luck and welcome! we were looking at Napa Valley too for an "estate" look wedding. unfortunately, we couldnt find one that we liked for an April 2009 wedding so we opted to do a Destination Wedding in Cancun Mexico. Try the Meritage in Napa. we loved that site. beautiful.
  8. i just signed today too! i was a bit disturbed with the 30 days because i was verbally quoted 3 months by my wedding sales coordinator. this is actually one of the 20 questions i am asking my coordnator tomorrow. i read the contract for 30 minutes and i want to extra clear on things. there's a stipulation on teh contract that states all correspondence between Palace Resorts and you become null and void when you sign the contract. i want to make sure everything my sales coordinator and i agreed on is refkected on the signed contract.
  9. i just entered a contract with Moon Palace regaridng group bookings. here is what i know: 1) there is NO penalty if the rooms are unused. they just release them to the general public. 2) you could request an extension up to 2 weeks prior to the end date. 3) there's a 3 night minumim for each room. BUT if you have a guest staying for 6 nights, that could equivalent to 2 rooms. make sure you ask if Vallarta Palace honors room nights instead of rooms booked. it's so much easier to get your free functions with room nights rather than rooms booked. Moon Palace and Vallarta Palce are the same company so i'm assuming the same contract stipulations apply. hope this helps.
  10. welcome and congrats!!! we stayed at the Riu Palace in Cabo 3 years ago and we loved it. There's 2 Rius there now (Cabo and Santa Fe). Which one are you considering? Cabo has the PERFECT backdrop for a wedding. your pictures will look amazing because of El Arco in the background and the wavy blue beach! the only bad thing about it is that the beach in cabo is soooo perfect to look at but not to swim in. if beach time and swimming is important to you and your guests, then i would suggest choosing another Riu location. Cabo beach is just tooo strong and sand too rough. ---especially in Riu.
  11. i know how you feel! you will feel bad either way because you'll feel horrible for keeping the legal wedding from your dad and you'll feel just as bad for going through it despite his plea not to. my suggestion is to be frank honest with what you decide and back your reason up. either way it's your decision. my fiance and i are having a catholic ceremony in Cancun next April but we are getting maried legally in the US before we leave for Cancun. It's very important for us to get married in a catholic ceremony in cancun and getting married legally first is their requirement. we are not telling our family. if they do find out about it, we are ready to back our behind up. we are simply doing the legal ceremony n order to have the catholic ceremony in mexico.
  12. we were officially BF and GF when we were only 15 years old on April 11, 1998. We got engaged on August 2008. We will marry on April 24, 2009........ 11 YEARS!!!! =) we wanted April 11, 2009 as our wedding date but it's Black Saturday (the day before Easter). Our family is very religious and so are we so we decided to postpone until after Easter.

  14. my cousin had his honeymoon there and he said it was FANTASTIC. I'm getting married in Moon Palace April 24, 2008 and he said you cannot go wrong with Palace Weddings =) CONGRATS and WELCOME!!!

  16. hi, we just set the date to April 24th as of this afternoon. i changed my original date from April 18th because the room rates are lower starting April 19th. super excited!
  17. ours at Moon Palace Resort in Cancun is about $1500 per person: all inclusive, flight, 7 nigts, double occupancy.
  18. st. lucia all the way! this is YOUR wedding. you dont want to regret SETTLING later on just to accomodate to people's needs. if people want to come, they will fork out the cash regardless of the cost. its their vacation too =) every destination wedding comes with a price. families and friends all cant go. you knew this when you decided to have a destination wedding. if you feel like you need your family and friends to celebrate with you. then do a reception when you get home. realistically speaking... even if you have your wedding at home... most people come to the reception only anyways. so have your ceremony in st. lucia and have a grand reception at home for your guests =)
  19. we picked Moon Palace because of the seclusion from downtown Cancun yet close proximity to nightlife if me or my guests would like to go out. moon palace has the horse-drawn carriage and catholic chapel - my deal makers. =)
