  1. good afternoon fellow MP brides. I just posted a post (with pictures!) of my TTD dress. Check it out here: http://bestdestinationwedding.com/forum/t32275 Let me know what you think!
  2. Hey everybody. Here are the reasons why I got a separate gown for my TTD pics: - I am in love with my Rivini couture gown and I can't trash it =( - I want a different look for my TTD since I couldnt decide what style i should go for my wedding (ex: princess, island, city, vineyard, etc) - I am obsessed with TTD pics that have brides running around barefoot in poofy dresses. - i want to get creative with my TTD pics without destroying my original gown. With that, here is my TTD dress: catalog pics here's me with the dress: obviously i need some alterations to make it fit my body, but u have an idea of how it looks on me. I got the dress at David's Bridal. I didn't want to spend so much money on my TTD dress so my mom and sister went me with me to look. I tried of so many dresses but i knew i wanted poofy. I tried on princess dresses with organza, silk tafetta, and tulle fabrics. I went with the tulle dress since I really want a princess look. i wanted to be very bridal. the dress was originally $1,100 but i got it for only $624.99 not bad huh? The sales lady said this dress is already discontinued so I bought it the same day. My wedding gown cost me $6,000 so buying this dress was such a relief! i actually really like this dress so i'm also considering on incorporating this during the reception. I may wear it for the father and daughter dance since it's so princessy. i think my TTD pics will be super fun with this dress. I can't wait to see how it will look later. the train is fairly long so I may need to add a bustle just in case i need it for the TTD pics. i'm, however, undecided on a veil to wear. i know i want a cathedral veil, but i'm not sure whether i should wear 1-tiered or 2-tiered veil. what do you think? 2-tiered 1-tiered please help me decide =) thanks you all in advance!
  3. heck no!!! this is your wedding. the people that will actually go to your wedding are the ones that count! you also get a chance to go on a fabulous vacation with your loved ones. how often will u have a large group vacation with your family? 8 months is doable! we began planning our destination wedding in 7 months! u will have a LOT of work to do but it will be so fun and worth it!!!
  4. we chose moon palace over dreams because of the horse carriage and gazebos. it was really important for my guests to stay under the shade during the ceremony. we are having a catholic ceremony and needed a chapel onsite at the resort. moon won us over =)
  5. i recently bought my 2nd wedding dress while on vacation in texas and i was able to bring my dress with me on the plane back to california. the airline didnt have a closet to hang my dress so they let me take up a row just for my dress since the flight wasnt full. during a leg of a full flight, they offered to hang it in the cockpit. work with the airlines, they are normally understanding of the wedding gown situation. even the airlines rep recommended keeping the dress with you during flight. hope this helps!

She just emailed me back with my onsite WC, who will be Kalena. I was soooo surprised! I was expecting it to be a huge hassle based on what others have gone through! Now I'm so excited to really get some planning done!! You are so lucky!!!! Oh my gosh, i really want to know who my onsite WC is too! I am also working with Katherine Rivera so I'll ask her! I can't even order my wedding invitations until I finalize the reception stuff. envious!!! =) Congrats!
  7. hi lisa! i went there last february and stayed at one of the cottages in the beach side. your TA is right. the resort is a bit old. if you want to stay in ocho rios, there's another Sandals (Dunn's River) about 15 minutes drive away. The hotel is much newer and has a Italian Tuscan Villa feel. The main pool side is newer in Sandals Ocho Rios, but you have to take a shuttle to go to the beach. I suggest going on Trip Advisor to read resort review. It's a great site to find out about a hotel and see traveler's candid pics of the resort. =) No need for currency exchange. US Dollas is widely accepted.
  8. Hi! The average designer dress is actually right around the range of the dress i bought. i will definitely post pictures once my dress comes in. i tried searching for pictures on the designer's site but it's not up yet. i bought my dress from a trunk show so it hasnt hit the shops yet. i wasn't looking for a $6,000 dress... i just happened to fall in love with a dress that cost $6,000 =/ it's a Rivini Couture =)
  9. wow, we have spent $14,000 so far. most of the funds was from my $6,000 wedding gown. veils cost another $1,000. we are not even done yet. we are looking at $35-40K with our honeymooon in Tahiti. headache. thank goodness we are getting help from our parents. =)

  11. aww thanks for the kind messages, ladies!!! i love how this forum lets us all share our bridal moments! i will definitely post the pictures the moment they become available! =)
  12. i learned to trust my photographers based on the pictures they have taken in the cenote and beach locations. their cenote shots are what convinced us to go with the company! i would suggest to insist on getting samples of the places your photographer has taken pics at. you want to make sure he/she can handle the environment. =)
  13. welcome!!! anse chastanet in St. Lucia offers intimate beachside weddings! you should check it out! =)

There was also more souvenir type stuff when I was there (but that was 5 years ago)! Sorry I can't give you more advice but that's what I know of. I went to the flea market in the hotel strip back in May and they had trinkety stuff - like shot glasses but they all seemed overpriced. I guess the Peso is catching up with the Dollar in value! Good luck! great question, myen! how far exactly is it from Moon Palace? How much was the cab drive?
  15. Veil all the way! You could totally experiment with different looks from the different types of veils out there. so many options! you could do a virginal look with a cathedral veil, or go totally chic with a short one. the options are up to you! just go try them on with your dress. you'll love it! =)
  16. wow, i'm so impressed the majority bough their dress under the $1,000 range! My dress by Rivini cost me $5,940---just under my $6,000 budget. I set my budget for $6,000 because I was originally going to buy 2 dresses. But when I fell in love with 1 dress, I decided to sacrifice another dress so I could get my dream dress. =) I've always dreamed of wearing designer and couture for my wedding. I am wearing 2 veils that cost me close to $1,000 for both. No shoes and accessories yet... yikes!!! oh well... you only do it once. i'd rather have a big bill at the end than a lifetime of regrets. =/
  17. Hi Ladies! I just want to share how happy I am to announce that I ordered my wedding gown this weekend on Saturday!!!! Such a fluke too cause I wasn't even planning on buying a dress yet...just looking! =) Here's my story on how I found "The One." I went with my mom and uncle at a Carolina Herrera Trunk Show in San Francisco this Saturday. Unfortunately, I didn't see a dress i liked so I tried on other dresses and found 1 really liked by Ulla Maia. I made an appointment for a follow-up just in case I ended up choosing that gown. During lunch, I decided to call one more bridal salon to see if they had any openings later that day. to my luck, someone cancelled! I was able to take that appointment. =) When we got there, it was also a Rivini Trunk Show. I saw the gown on a mannequin and I knew I wanted to try the dress on first, and I did. Then I knew I found "The One." I didn't even bother trying the other gowns by the usual designers such as Monique Lhuillier, Vera Wang, Lazaro, etc. I had the dress on for 2 hours and just walked around it it. I had so much fun trying on the different veils. I got sooo lucky that the style director for Rivini was there. He suggested awesome veils and showed me how to change my look from ceremont to reception by changing to different types of veils. oh my god... the experience was one of a kind!!! i felt like i was a New York socialite! I LOVE MY DRESS. I originally wanted to wear 2: one for ceremony and the other one for reception. Now i just want to wear my one and only Rivini gown. Wearing different styles of veils really do make a difference. it could totally change your look! I met my budget! The dress is ridiculously expensive but I think it's worth it. I even got a great deal... 10% off my total purchases (including the veil) AND the bridal salon had a great promotion for my fiance. A free tuxedo to KEEP or a $300 credit for an upgraded tuxedo or suit! I got our wedding attire in one sale! I am just ecstatic!!!! My dress is so unique. It's everything I wanted...except for the super poofy part. Describing the gown wouldn't do it justice. I wish I had photos but pictures were sooo restricted! The style director said that the gown is not available on line. It's not even on Rivini's website yet! He said the gown has not hit the stores yet so I am one of the first people to get the dress. This makes my gown even more special. =) My mom loves it and so does my uncle who is such a high fashion fashionisto! I'm just oozing in happiness right now. I'm sure you all had this super giddy and crazy happy feeling when you found your gown. =) I'll post the pics once they become available. I get my dress in March 2009, about a month before my wedding in Cancun. Thanks for reading and sharing my happiness with me!
  18. BUMP for you =) You should consult your photographer for location suggestions. We are doing a TTD on the beach and Cenote and it will take about 5 hours including transportations. --FYI. We are trusting our photographer to choose the best locations for us as far as beach and Cenote combo since they are more familiar with the location.
  19. have fun!!!! can't wait to read your reports when you get back..MARRIED!!! =)
  20. nice!!! I used to work for the shoes department in Macy's and Ninas and Caparros are always the highly recommended choices for weddings and proms.... cause they're COMFORTABLE =) great choice!
