I thought I would share my dress too I don't have any pics with me in it, I have this weird thing about taking pics in the dress before the big day lol! Im ok with everyone else doing it, but Im oddly scared of doing it myself... I don't know lol! We call them Stagettes in Alberta I just went to my best friends on Saturday... what a crazy night lol! I'm not having one booo.... My best friend is getting married in Puerta Vallarta on Dec 3 so she wont be here when mine would be, and after she is back I will be working 60 hour weeks until we leave for Cancun. Also, the other reason is my family would have an old fashioned 'tea party' that I really don't want to do. All the others that have been done have bored the brides (mostly my cousins) to tears until we started sneaking into the basement to do shots I know there are a least a few of us Canadians here, have any of you seen lightweight men's shirts in purple or green anywhere? Im having no luck in my city so Im probably going to have to go out of town or order online. Hope you are all doing great! January is really sneaking up on us hehe

Thanks everyone! I told them tonight that I appreciate their 'ideas' but no thanks. Mom didn't want to let it go until I had to just tell her that its literally just stupid. We agreed that we will still do a picture announcement and if they want anything more extravagant than what I want, they pay the difference! Thanks for reasurring me! I knew somewhere deep inside that I am not crazy hehe

My Mom and FMIL have come up with this "amazing" idea that we should be giving a small gift to everyone close to us that was not invited to the wedding... First off, NO ONE including Mother or FMIL are invited to the wedding!!! From day one this was going to be a known 'elopement' and honeymoon in one. Both sides are up for it, and excited for us and the planning they get to do for the AHR. Lately though, both have these fun ideas of what I "should" do, knowing me, they should know that will never work lol... the veil conversation was interesting alone. Second, WTF?! I laughed and laughed when my Mom told me this, and laughed when I told FI! But, he thinks it's a good idea... I'm not sure what to think now... The plan was to send announcements with a picture after, but this just seems a bit much! What do you think? (Oh and the gifts are personalized votive candles) Thank you for any input!

Thank you Mrs Martin! Congratulations! Your wedding looked just perfect, Im so happy for you I am getting married at the RPLA in January! Wow, so close lol, Im shocked everytime I see my ticker lol! I have Pamela as my WC as well and she is annoying me to no end. Asking me questions I've already answered, , and completely ignoring the fact that though I originally reqested a photographer I no longer need one... I'm hoping for the best when I get there and that these details can be worked out there. Its flowers/decor and the restaurant. What do you think? I agree with the "everyone has to pack a bag" definition, personally my definition of a DW is getting married where ever you would traditionally go on a honeymoon

Same thing here! Saves a lot of $$ actually at our resort, and I don't want to have to worry about all the paperwork, blood tests (that just freaks me out hehe), and whatnot. I am going to be there 3 days before and this just seemed the best way to go. Also, since we aren't having guests coming with us, our parents are going to at least see us "married" (everyone understands that the legal day is NOT our wedding day) and then be at the big AHR.

I wish I could just show up and pick my details! My WC that went missing for weeks has suddenly shown up and wants decisions NOW Um which flowers? I don't know... pretty ones? LOL ok, Im not that bad, but she is a bit loopy... Bachatabride? Want to come be 'anal' about my wedding too hehe? Just kidding! Your bags are too cute!!! Can't wait to see your shoes! Wow your legal dresses are beautiful! Are you all having a lot of people at your legal ceremonies? For us, we are only having our parents as our witnesses. I saw a long white wool button up coat that Im desperate for... I think the legal ceremony is the perfect excuse to buy it Are any of you doing TTD photos? I am, but I'm doing it straight after the couples shoot, is anyone else doing that? I'm a little sad that I won't get to wear my dress for long, but I think this is the best way to go, rather than half to do more pics the next day when its only the 2 of us and no reception there. I still have to check the proper areas for this, but, Im curious We are going to send out wedding anounncements (have to, no question according to Mom) and can't decide whether to get the announcement printed on a copy of a picture, or do paper ones and send a picture to important people. What do you think? Only 1 more I promise! It's probably too hot for a dark plum color shirt for FI isn't it? *blush* Sorry! Hi all! I hope you will let me jump in here Our date is January 10, 2009 at the Riu Palace Las Americas! I have almost nothing done... eek! We have been together for a long time and in September just decided to go for it literally. I have my dress, the resort, flights/rooms and thats about it, so Im about to have a breakdown lol! It is just the 2 of us going, we are going to have a reception when we get back, so it seems like there is not a lot to plan, but Im still getting super nervous! I don't know how you all do it with guests! Sorry for the long post! Ashley

I have to pack up my dress 4.5 days-ish (married Sat morning, leaving Wed afternoon) after the wedding so Im sure it will be dry lol, at least I'm hoping! Are you worried about the salt-water staying on your dress that long? I wasn't but am not sure now... maybe rinse the whole thing?

Thank you for bringing this up! I am doing my TTD straight after the couple's shoot and will have to get out of the dress (no reception, so no worries ) I have zero clue what to do with the dress other than hang it over the bathtub, then clean when we come home... I don't want the hassel of getting it to the resort staff to take care of and all that, especially on my wedding day!

I worked at one of the SPCAs in Alberta, Canada for years. Not only was it amazingly hard physical work, but the emotional toll was scary (especially now that I look back, I never realized what I was becoming). I really have zero respect for people who toss away their pets (not all, some have valid reasons, and their hearts were always broken, that was hard too) as well as people who force others to give up their pets. If your FI can't see how important your kitty is, what is he going to do with anything your find important? I don't just mean things, but what about a hobby you have/might have? Do you have to get rid of it because he doesn't like it? I scrapbook and my FI usually is furious with me when I come home from the scrapbook store, knowing how much I spent on 'paper'. But he knows that is something that makes me happy and is a part of my life. Thats all thats needed. Mine didn't want my cats in the beginning. He would moan and bitch about litter boxes and that, but guess what? They are his children now. How can your FI yell at your cat for not following HIS rules?! She/He is a cat, they aren't going to change over night for a new person (or any person, YOU taught the kitty the rules!) !!! I'm sorry to say this, but I would personally be very concerned about what he will be like with children if a CAT gets him this worked up. A 3 year old is not going to care what anyone has to say if he/she is having a tantrum... is he/she going to have to hide in the basement as well? I'm sorry, reading this over, I know I seem like I am ranting, but there are too many pets that need homes in this world, without FIs coming in and demanding something be done. I hope you both can work this out, if not, I would be keeping kitty and not FI. It is so true that you can see a person's true colors in the way they treat animals. Good luck!

My list is a little different! There are only the 2 of us going to be at our wedding so Im looking for songs for the photo dvd to give people when we come home. Right now, the pics before the wedding (getting dressed, etc) will have Jason Mraz 'Im Yours" playing, the ceremony will be Sade 'By Your Side' remix and the traditional/TTD pics will be Jack Johnson 'Better Together' I think for the actual ceremony we aren't going to have anything... its just the waves crashing or possibly a remix of Canon D (LOVE a couple of the versions out, also have a dj friend who might be able to come up with a mix just for us!), we aren't traditional at all, though all this wedding planning seems to be bringing that out in me lol! If anyone has any songs that fit the ceremony as well as the two others I picked, I would love to hear them! Im having trouble finding one that 'fits' with the other ones!

Im having problems getting in touch with my WC at the RPLA (assuming she probably does all 3 Rius in Cancun too) which isn't too worrying right now, but my day is in January and I work management in a retail store so December is going to be INSANE, I want to work out most details before then. I emailed her for the first time over 2 weeks ago and haven't heard anything yet. I know she is probably swamped right now, but even a quick email saying that would be nice. I'm planning on calling tomorrow to see if I can get her. I found outside photography and need to cancel the resort photographer. Does anyone know if there is an 800 number to the RPLA's wedding department? I'm scared of seeing my phone bill after the last time I had to call lol!

Is this something they sent you in an email or did you find it on their website? I can't seem to find it. I am getting married at the RPLA and haven't been told I can't bring anyone in, also I saw here on another thread that they used Sol at the RPLA. I'm getting concerned now
