  1. Well, I did reserve Riu Caribe for October 30, 2009. I wanted a Saturday but they were all booked. I did figure out the colors. Burnt orange, wine and a touch of yellow. Imagine those colors while getting married at sunset. I'm so excited!! I've made a rough draft of my STDs but I'm waiting on my sister in law to make me a monogram. Let's make ourselves timelines or something, keep us all on track. After you all pick a location, what's next on your timeline?

  4. Hello and welcome to the forum. I'm sure by now you have found information if you've looked around this site. If you plan on getting married in June, you maybe should make a decision as soon as possible because I know at least at the Rius in Cancun, dates get filled quickly. When I requested ;my date for October 2009 a few weeks ago, all Saturdays were booked except for Halloween. Let me know if I can help. -Cachet
  5. WELCOME!! I am a Riu Caribe bride. Are you definately getting married in Los Cabos? I thought about that location but I think I decided against it because of the beach. Make sure you can swim on Riu's beach there. My cousin got married at Riu Ochos Rios in Jamaica and had a very good experience. Let me know if you have any questions. Also, go to Rius website and look at the questions and answers. I was attracted to having a wedding at a Riu because they have so much info on there website.

  7. Hey, I just came across this today. I'm glad that you have decided to go along with this. I had the same response, when my FI told his mother, the first thing she said was "That's Crazy". Not "I'm glad you're getting married", "Congratulations", or anything like that. "That's Crazy" is all she said. He and his mother really got into it over that. He said he doesn't even want her to come to the wedding. I'm sure he'll change his mind. My whole thought is thought is that we have been together 11 years, three kids down the line and no one is contributing to the cost of the wedding. Who has 10s of thousands of dollars to have a big wedding at home to accomodate people here who are only going to criticize what you do anyway. We were conscience of the resort we chose to accomodate everyones budget (under $1000 total). And on top of that, we are giving everyone over a year to plan and pay for it. Anyone who really wants to be there to share your wedding day with you will be there. If they're not there, they didn't want to be there anyway. Grant it, we know that some people will not be able to come but we know who's sincere and who's not. Screw those negative people!!!!
  8. Hello, Looking for October 2008 Brides out there. Where are you in planning. I'm starting to get anxious because I've only got one year left to plan!!!
  9. I like the ones you already have. I'm just worried that you will need a necklace.
  10. Oh yeah, I saw fan programs on Michaels website (michaels.com); however, they weren't near as nice as the samples I saw in these threads. It's a start though. I thought about giving engraved at the wedding to everyone (we're getting married on the beach) but I didn't think the men would appreciate them. What do you think?
  11. Below is a website I found with a lot of supplies people in this thread were looking for. I just found it tonight, therefore I can't vouch for the site but goodluck. Beach Theme Weddings & Parties BEST OF LUCK!!!
  12. I saw something similar on another site. I LOVE THEM!!! I want me and my bridesmaids to wear them!!
  13. I wanted to have an AHR. There are a few things that's holding me back. We're getting married in October and I want my AHR to be at a location that has a pool so I was thinking about waiting until like June to have the AHR. Another thing is the costs. My whole purpose of having a DW was to cut the cost of a wedding at home but our budget is already at $15,000 and I wanted to keep it undere $10,000.
  14. I plan on getting married in Cancun. My goal is to keep it under $1000 per person at an all inclusive resort staying 3-4 nights. Most of my guest are coming from Pittsburgh.
  15. Hello, I've only found one other Riu Caribe bride. Are there others? I'd love to share ideas and experiences with you. Let me know!!!
  16. This thread was very informative. I originally wanted to have it at Dreams but it didn't fit in the budget I wanted my guests to have and it didn't offer as many ammenities as the Rius. I then chose Riu Cancun but I'm expecting over 60 guests. I just put in a request for Riu Caribe. I'm a little concerned now because no one has talked about that at all. Have any of you looked at Riu Caribe?
  17. I don't think you should send the STDs to everyone because that means they will be expecting an invitation and not get one. I think you should just send out invitations and STDs to those you really want to come and then send out announcements afterwards.
  18. Ha Ha, I feel the same way you did about the Dreams Cancun. I looovvveed it. Just out of my budget for 50+ guest. I then fell in love with RIU Cancun but the can't accomodate the # of guests. Did you find pictures for Caribe yet. They just emailed me some last week and I can forward them to you. Did you decide on the resort yet? Please let me know because I have to make a decision about Caribe ASAP. Dates are filling fast.
  19. Hello, My name is Cachet. My wedding date is 10/30/09 I have been planning my destination wedding for the past month. Actually trying to find a location. I finally found one!!! But encountered a problem. I really wanted to have the wedding at Dreams Cancun. After calculating the cost of the additional wedding guests, and my guest cost, plus the ammenities it offerred, I decided to choose RIU Cancun. I was set on it. Requested a date and everything. THen I got a response back from RIU that said my guest number was too large and told me to go to RIU Caribe. I am very concerned about that. I'm not sure if that is good enough for me and my guests. They told me I needed to make a decision in the next 24 hours or my request will be cancelled. The dates there are filling up fast so I have to make a decision QUICK. Has anyone gotten married at RIU Caribe?? HELP. Thanks, Cachet
