  1. I am in the same boat! My hair is really fine but it has a bit of a wave (not a nice one though) and it goes frizzy really easily. I do have a lot of hair though so picture a lot of frizz when it's humid! When I was doing my master's degree I was in a lab so I wore my hair up EVERY day so FH also wants my hair down. I also want it down because I think that my ears stick out and I want to have them covered, lol, even though everyone else says they look fine. I think that I'm going to try putting my hair half up (and trying to find a great anti-frizz formula) with a flower. I found a picture in a magazine of a model with hair that I want and I managed to find it online: "+linktext+" My hair also looses curl easily but I did something similar to this for my prom back in the day and whatever the stylist used kept my hair curly all night. Maybe see what your stylist says, sometimes they can work wonders! I also think that coloring your hair will help, I find that it always gives my hair more thickness and oomph!

I even considered them in red (they are super cute in green too but that wouldn't fit with my wedding) but I know that won't be happy until I find a pair in blue! I'm hoping that when the Louboutin website is up and running again that maybe more will be available! If I ever come across some pairs I'll let you know!

Word to the wise, I had never bought (or tried on) Louboutin's before and I ordered a size 38 (a US size eight) from Neiman Marcus and they are a tich too small. They were the last pair on the face of the earth so I am dealing with it but I recommend AT LEAST a half size if not a full size up from what you normally wear. That's good to know about the sizes! Louboutin's are really hard to find here in general (the only high end store in my city that would have them, Holt Refrew, doesn't carry them) so I haven't had a chance to even try a pair on! My BM's and I are going to try to take a trip to NY so I'll be sure to try some on to make sure the size is right. That's awesome that you got your dream Louboutin's for your wedding and that you have no buyer's remorse! I think that I'm the same as you, even if the shoes were too small I would just deal with it, lol. I have my fingers crossed that I will be able to get mine in my size. Until then I am still a Louboutin virgin, lol.

Shoe Designer Spotlight: Brian Atwood | FabSugar - Fashion & Style. Those shoes are amazing in teal! Why is it that the color or size that we want is always sold out? I guess that just means that we have great taste!

I know, I've thought of other colors and I've seen red, green, black and champagne on net-a-porter and/or ebay but I have my heart set on the blue ones (I'm so stubborn, once I get something in my head nothing else will do *sigh*). Hmmm, putting them on the registry....somehow I think that FH would veto that one, lol. My friend keeps telling me to use the power of "the secret" and the "law of attraction" that Oprah kept talking about a few months ago. At this point that may be all I can go on, ha ha. They will show up at my door, they will show up at my door...........

Man there are too many nice shoes in the world and not enough money for me to buy them all I LOVE Stuart Weitzman but I have this silly idea in my head that when my FH goes to get the garter and I lift up my leg everyone will see the red Louboutin bottom of the shoe I don't think that 90% of my guests even know who Christian Louboutin is, or maybe they will by the time I show them all a picture of THE shoes, ha, ha.
  7. I just have to gush (and whine slightly, ha ha). I have completely fallen in love with a pair of shoes and I can't find them in my size anywhere!!!! I don't know if anyone else has seen the blue Christian Louboutin Rosazissimo satin sandals but they are completely gorgeous! Christian Louboutin Rosazissimo satin sandals | NET-A-PORTER.COM As far as I can tell net-a-porter was the only site that had them but now they're sold out (except in size 42). The new Christian Louboutin website isn't up and running yet so I haven't been able to try to find them there either I'm assuming that they're still available, they were just featured in pink in the newest Martha Stewart Weddings magazine. I guess I'll just keep dreaming, they're too expensive ($760 ~ although I would give up food for a month to have them, lol) and probably too high to be comfortable anyways (4 inches).......but even FH and my guy friends think they're awesome and they're boys with no normal appreciation for shoes (FH would kill me if I did buy them though) !

I have read the entire series and they are SO light and funny. I've had people shoot me weird looks on planes, the beach etc.. because I was laughing out loud reading them! I don't know when the movie is coming out, I heard about it awhile ago, but I hope it comes out soon, I'd love to see it!
  9. I think that $1000 is perfectly reasonable when you give your guests some advanced notice to save. We're looking for packages that are $1500 max all inclusive for a week (we're Canadian so flights and everything are included in our packages) which our friends and family are totally fine with. I agree with Beach Bride, although not everyone may be able to attend, the people who love you the most will find a way. Most of our friends are at the same place in life as we are (young, still in/just out of grad school and broke, ha ha) but we always told them that we would be having a destination wedding even before we got engaged (we've been together for almost 8 years though so they got a heads up a few years ago). Some of our friends have had their "trip money" saved for a few years which is awesome (and shows us how excited they are to be at our wedding!).
  10. Wow! I have nothing on you guys! 1) USA 2) Dominican Republic 3) Cuba 4) Mexico I think that I need to get some more travelling in, I'm feeling seriously uncultured! At least we're going to honeymoon in Europe, I'm the ONLY one I know who hasn't been there!
  11. Hi everyone, FH and I have just started planning our DW and I have a question about group rates. What kind of a discount can you typically expect? We went to see a travel agent last weekend who didn't seem all that enthusiastic and we were told that the only "group rate" that we would get would be a guarantee that spots would be reserved for our guests to book (no price discount). This was really surprising because we think that we will have between 50 and 75 people attending our wedding (we're looking at booking an AI in Punta Cana). Is this normal?? We were also surprised because my FILs have booked a ton of vacations with this person and figured that we would get some type of a deal. I have emailed Weddings by Oceans to get some information but we're still open to shopping around for a TA if anyone has any suggestions.

    Hi!

Hi everyone! My name is Melissa, I got engaged a couple of weeks ago and am new to the forum (although I did hover around reading posts before I got engaged!). My FH and I aren't quite sure about our specific wedding date or hotel location yet but we've narrowed it down to February 2010 in Punta Cana, DR. I look forward to talking to all of you and sharing ideas! From what I've seen so far this forum looks like a great resource! Melissa
