I'm sure that others have had this problem, and I feel bad calling this a vent because I absolutely adore my future in-laws and their heart is in the right place but we have a little issue right now. FH and I have always wanted to have a DW because we just aren't at-home wedding people and we didn't want all of the hoopla involved with a reception at home. Well FHs parents keep bringing up having an AHR and we really don't want one! They say that they want to be able to share our happiness with everyone who can't make it but the thing is the money would be coming out of the money that they are going to give us. I don't want to come across as a bitch or selfish but there are other things that we would rather put that money towards (although I realize that it's their money and they can do what they want with it). We really need a car and we'd rather put the money towards that. Plus, everyone that we really care about will be coming to our wedding in the DR or they live on opposite ends of the country (my family is from the maritimes, FHs from BC) so they wouldn't come to an AHR anyways. I know that the people who would come could really care less about our wedding or would just come because our parents went to their kid's weddings. It just seems like such a waste of money especially because I know my parents and FHs parents and a simple BBQ wouldn't do. It would turn into some swanky reception! To make matters worse (or I guess another argument that we have against it) our good friends who are also in our wedding party are getting married 2.5 months after us at the end of April (and we're in their wedding party) and FH's parents want to have the AHR at the start of May. I just think that this would be so rude to our friends! It would be like saying "well now your wedding is over, we want all of the attention on us AGAIN". Plus I feel like people might think it's just a gift grab whereas we don't want any gifts! We've owned a condo together for almost 3 years, have our "kid" (Great Dane ) together etc. so we don't need anything. How can we convince them to not have an AHR without seeming selfish or ungrateful? We've tried telling them a few times but it hasn't worked yet

Has anyone ever ordered beach totes from Simply Bags? I'm thinking of ordering bags for my BMs from there (two pink and one lime): And bags for my Mom and FH's Mom: The price seems right, I just want to know if anyone knows how the quality is (at least for my BM bags, I don't see the Moms getting much use out of their bags after the wedding but I know that they'll get a kick out of them for the wedding week). Thanks! The sash only comes in black, cream or matching so my BMs are all wearing the matching sash. I've seen other people get their seamstress to add a sash of their own though so you could really do any colour. If I remember correctly the price was around $189 CND.

My BMs are wearing dresses by Mori Lee that are super cute and beachy. The fuschia on the website looks more purple but it is fuschia in person. That's terrible! I would be livid!!! Is there any way that you can change her room reservation to make sure it's the worst room possible (or at least $75 cheaper)? At least then you could secretly get some satisfaction out of the whole thing

Hi ladies, So awhile back I wanted to get our STD's made but we didn't have our date or resort picked out yet. I was debating sending them out beforehand (I'm impatient) but I decided to wait after listening to all of your advice! I can understand how you feel, FH and I have been together over 8 years and will have been engaged for a year and a half before we get married (although we already have a house and dog together) and I find that I get antsy sometimes. I try to look at it positively, you can only call him your fiance for a short period of time (which can be fun) but you'll call him your husband for the rest of your life! Kris, I just noticed we're date twins!

I would say just keep a looking online, I was scouring sites every day (ebay, bluefly, shopstyle). My shoes were 100x harder to pick out than my wedding dress! Three pairs later and I finally have the perfect pair of Jimmy Choos that I'm in love with!

I'm not sure if this is right or not but check out this Weddingbells thread: WEDDINGBELLS Message Board Community: WEDO translated documents NOT accepted in ON! They are saying that WEDO documents are not accepted in Ontario. I'm not sure if it's true or not (we're getting ours done through our TA who is certified) but you might want to look into it.

So we finally booked our wedding date and time today! It's not ideal Wednesday at 1pm, and we're getting to the resort more in advance than we wanted to (Saturday) but after weighing everything out it's the best we can do. We could have left the Monday and potentially gotten married the Thursday at 3pm, but Monday is a really hard day to leave for a lot of our guests and we want our most important guests flying down with us. At first I was pretty bummed (it's still annoying!) but after talking to FH he reassured me that I will not turn into Shamu in four days (I may have to just work out a lot since I'm sure I'll be following a primarily liquid diet, lol), that we can figure out a way to keep our guests cool during the ceremony (I'm thinking maybe parasols and fans) and that we can plan a cocktail party or something in between the wedding and the reception. What's most important is that FH and I are getting married! I still think that it's crazy that there is only one judge in Punta Cana though! Thanks for all of your thoughts and advice!!!

Thanks for the reassurances everyone, I just wanted to make sure that I wasn't being unreasonable! So no news from my TA yet, I'm going to call her tomorrow to see what she's heard from the resort so I'll keep you posted.
