  1. I totally understand what you are going through & sorry to hear that. I was basically given the news last Tuesday. We were told we had 2 options - to take the layoff package when it becomes available or take a position which meant taking a reduction in pay (but this job would eventually end too b/c our company is closing its doors forever, so it was just buying time). I chose to take the layoff package when it becomes available b/c I would still get paid my same salary for a few weeks after the layoff. It is hard because we get married July 28th. I do thank God b/c I was able to sell my house in April and moved in with my fiance at his apartment so now we can at least save money right now. It's tough in the economy right now & affecting a lot of people. Keeping praying & have faith that you will find something else better.

  3. I will definitely keep you all posted. From what I had seen their prices were not bad for hair & makeup. Las Vegas will be HOT, HOT, HOT in July and I know I will be sweating so it really needs to hold up.
  4. gorgeous dress! you made a good choice in that dress.
  5. Does anyone have any experience with using the Glamsquad702 for hair & makeup? I just made a reservation through the chapel (Chapel of the Flowers)I am getting married at in July. I will probably do the airbrush makeup - hopefully that lasts a long time in the Vegas heat.
  6. Good luck! I am also looking for another position. Layoffs are coming at my job.
  7. I need to find some inexpensive transportation for my guests to the Chapel and to the restaurant afterward. I think taxi's would be too expensive for the guests because they would have to wait at the chapel during the ceremony. The ceremony is not directly on the strip and I want to make this easy for everyone. I need some ideas.

  9. Those are very pretty! I really like those and actually saw a similar pair like those that I was considering to get.
  10. I'm sure it is stressful for you but don't worry about it. I do know how you feel, right now we have 6 people booked which are his parents, my mom, grandma, sister & niece. I am not going to worry about it. Others have said they were coming but I am not going to worry about it anymore than I already have. I know times are hard and understand if they can't make it because I am going to enjoy myself regardless if they are there are not.
  11. That is crazy! I would have been screaming at someone. I will definitely be taking my dress on the plane with me no matter who doesn't like it!
  12. Things are finally coming to a close. My closing is tomorrow, but I am having to pay about $1500 in closing costs and was really hoping to at least break even. But it could be worse and I am thankful that it is sold. My two classes are over and I don't start my next session until May 9th! Finally have time to breathe. I leave to go visit family & friends in GA for my bridal shower and I am so excited. Right now, the only concern I have is adjusting to living with my fiance! Not that it really is a concern but there is an adjustment period and I am learning how he likes things done around his place. I keep having to remind him that it is "OUR" place now and not just his apartment.
  13. It's getting close. I am not getting married that week, but I will be a couple of weeks before you on July 28th in Las Vegas. I am excited as well. It's going to be so much fun.
  14. Congratulations and good luck planning your wedding. I'm sure you will have a blast in Jamaica.
  15. Congratulations and good luck with everything. I am sure everything will work out, but it's just going to work out in its own time. Be patient - good things come to those who wait!
  16. I can relate somewhat as I have lived on my own for the past five years. I do enjoy my space but I enjoy being at his place for days at a time. I put my place up for sale in February and just got a buyer a few days ago. We had planned on waiting to live together until after we got married, but it ultimately depended on when my places sales. And since it seems like I have to be out of here by the end of the month, we will have about 3 months of time to live together before we get married. I was practically at his place all the time anyway and I don't feel any anxiety about moving in with him at all. I have asked him several times to make sure he is ok with everything and he is but I am actually ready to sell my place and move into his apartment for the next few months until we find a place together. I do think having a packing party will help you relieve some of the anxiety you are feeling and you should do it. Like someone has said before, you two are going to be living together soon anyway - you should go for it!
  17. I can get a couple people but I just don't want to inconvenience anyone. They just had the inspection today and I am hoping everything goes well and I don't get hit with another reason to scream again. I need boxes and I need more time in a day.
  18. That's a great tip. Thanks because I really need to start practicing now and will need all of this time.
  19. Congrats on your weight loss. I am not losing anything right now and have been at the same weight for the past three weeks or so. I know I could be doing better in my eating. I have continued to work out and still doing my bootcamps.
  20. Awesome. I am always looking for deals in the dollar section at Target and will going by there soon to take a quick peek. Thanks
  21. Those are a great idea and I just may do that as well. I have been trying to figure out what to do for my guests that come to Las Vegas for our wedding.
  22. I am about to scream, well actually - I AM SCREAMING!!!! I put my place up for sale in February and finally got a buyer. You would think that would be great which it is, but they want to close by April 29th. I only have about 2 weeks to get everything packed while working full time, taking 2 classes to get my MBA, planning my wedding, and then going out of town to visit my family on April 30th. I feel like I just don't have time. This is crazy. I am happy that I have a buyer and very thankful for that. I just wish I had a little bit more time.
  23. Well, I got good news! I did not get laid off. They ended up only letting one person go in our office on Tuesday. I really feel bad for him - he had been with the company for 25yrs so I am sure they have him a good severance package. I am still working right now and very happy.
  24. We aren't doing a garter/bouquet toss either. In the setting we are in, I didin't feel it would be necessary.
  25. I have had those same complaints because my wedding is on a Tuesday morning at 10am (before it gets too hot). I chose to have it during the week because of costs, we are going to have it in Las Vegas and it is cheaper during the weekdays - THINKING ABOUT MY GUESTS AND THEIR COSTS! That's what I get for trying to be considerate of the costs the will have to pay. But everyone has really gotten over it at this point, they will probably come Monday and leave Wednesday which will give them 2 more days to work that week if they choose too!
