  1. @Kristi: Our dinner reception was at The Edge. We did the Chef's tasting menu, and I swear they brought out like 17 courses (ok, maybe it was 6, but it was a lot of really good, Excellently Prepared, and Wonderfully Presented food). Pigeon Island! OMG, I was so glad we had a rehearsal there the day before... otherwise, we'd have spent our entire wedding just looking around! Yeah, and what's with announcing awesome airfare once we've already gone! But it will be great for a one year anniversary trip, right!?!
  2. @Shivani: We actually ate in Castries at this wonderful place - I think it's called "Pirates" or something - anyway, it's on the 2nd floor in a shopping complex right off the docks in downtown castries -- our Videographers brother is the owner. I will see if we can get an address or the real name so you can find it. Also, right in Gros Islet, there is this magnificent Gyro shop, a BBQ Shack, and pizza place all in the same area. And, if you crave something from "home", there are Burger King, KFC, and Dominoes around town. On our last full day there, we discovered this French Bistro, delicious breakfast! And reasonably priced. My friends loved this place called The Lime; I didn't get to eat there so can't really say. Again, all are in the same area of Gros Islet. We stayed away from a lot of the resorts, and the resort pricing, but did eat once at an Indian restaurant by the resorts (again, don't recall the name). I can say that the entire time we were in St Lucia, we did not have one bad meal. And you're fortunate, the Almond Morgan Bay is just up the path from the main areas in Gros Islet, so you shouldn't have a hard time finding everything.
  3. Hey all the new(est) St Lucia Brides! I haven't been on here in a while but am open to any questions. We stayed at the Coco Palm Resort (not an AI) and so glad we did. We had the opportunity to meet several locals, eat at the local dining spots, and have some pretty awesome adventures around the island. Our wedding was held Cliff Side at Pigeon Island National Park, absolutely gorgeous. St Lucia is truly Simply Beautiful!
  4. I have nothing but wonderful things to say about Josh. We were fortunate to snag Josh during his destination contest on BDW; and when I say fortunate, that is the understatement of the year. Our wedding was in St Lucia, none of us had ever been before, and Josh was there the whole time, just snapping away. He is so patient, and fun, a true gem to have as a photographer! On the wedding day, he spent a full day (well, what seemed like a full day) with us at the hair salon, then waited patiently while I managed to be an hour and a half late fixing the hair that was just styled (long story...). Finally out the door and at the wedding site, he has such vision for photography. We both completely trusted every shot he took, and they all turned out wonderful (even the ones where we look like goofballs). Check out this wonderful slideshow that Josh put together for us, you can see some of what I mean. Sheldon and Kari's Slideshow Many Many Many thanks Josh, and the wonderful photo's you've provided as a memory of our wedding day. I can't thank you enough. P.S. Sorry it took a while to post this review, but I feared that my words could not do proper justice to the work done byJosh Brown Photography - Montreal - Destination Wedding Photographer.
  5. It's so funny.... my mother sends me a text message every morning saying "6 days to go" ..... "5 more days"..... Sometimes I think she is more excited than anyone!
  6. Hey Ladies! I found a dress! Yay, thank you Filene's Running of the Brides (no, I wasn't one of the one's there at 5 am throwin' bows or anything). I ordered the veil yesterday from Etsy... I have my shoes; now I just need to finish our OOT bags, and wedding ceremony programs. The time crunch is on ... why do I work so well under pressure?!
  7. Depending on when, I might be able to go....
  8. I keep having those crazy dreams... you know where you are in the airport and someone asks "where's your wedding dress" and your response is "Oh CRAP!"......
  9. I'm still pushing myself to workout and eat healthy, but not just for the wedding. I want to be healthy everyday. The stress actually seems to be less the closer our date gets... not that I've got nothing to do... heck, i still don't have a dress. I guess I am just more focused on our marriage than the wedding day. Now... talk to me when April hits and I might have a completely different story! LOL.
  10. Wowsers... yeah I definitely have been avoiding this thread, but I guess it is high time I kick our to-do-list in high gear. I will say this, the Fi has been oh so helpful in getting some things done. Wedding stuff we still need to do: Get bridesmaids dress order finalized (yeah, they still haven't placed their orders) Buy bridal accessories (jewelry, hair/veil stuff, purse, petticoat etc.) Finalize guest count (need to follow-up on over 100 RSVP cards that haven't been sent back... sheesh people, it already has a stamp on it!) Buy guest book Schedule dance lessons for first dance Find a hair stylist/make-up artist on location Buy sand ceremony kit Insure engagement ring Take engagement photos (I swear, we'll be married before we take a single engagement picture... lol) Oh, and probably the biggest thing -- FIND A WEDDING GOWN! No pressure.

  12. Wow, I've missed sooooo much. Congrats on all the achievements ladies. Keep up the good work!
  13. Stay on track.... hmmm .... I think it would be great if I had time to eat a real meal. Work has us so busy lately that I barely get dinner before it's 10pm and time to go to bed. But I am definitely upping the intake of fruits and veggies. I keep looking at our reception menu and thinking, I want to eat everything there, so that's motivation to eat right up until... LOL.
  14. WOW... I've been gone for a while and look how many pages of threads I have to catch up on. Whew.... work has been hectic (and cutting into my workout time) but this lovely colon cleanse and detox program I'm on have been helping me with the weight loss. Yay!
  15. WOW! Not just that he asked to steal your day away from you.... but then he asked you to split the cost with him?! Are you serious!?! I understand economic times are hard, but come on! Your day is just that... YOUR DAY! It's easier to say than do, I know, but just let him know how uncomfortable that request made you and while you'd love for them to have the opportunity to renew vows, your wedding day is just not the appropriate time to do so.
  16. What a great find... and Kristy, that's a great idea to use it for BD pix... I may have to use that idea.
  17. Girl please... it's your day... you could show up in a Cinderella Ball Gown with 5 million in diamonds if you wanted to! Live it up!
  18. It's a very beautiful dress! I am sure you look gorgeous in it! Cant wait to see pics!
  19. Whew, I almost missed it again! I am all in; just need to figure out how to weigh myself while I am on the road for work.... has anyone invented a foldup portable scale that'll make through customs?? lol.
  20. Yeah... the FI and I are sitting here eating popcorn and he just turned to an Ab Coaster Infomercial! WTH?! Talk about a boring new years... lol
  21. That's absolutely awesome Shannon! I am soooo struggling. Every year our family makes these mini pecan pies and pecan candies for Christmas. I have to resist the urge to eat them! But it's tradition (and quite possibly the tradition that caused me to gain weight in the first place. . . lol).
  22. When we were looking around for a place to hold our AHR, we found Suite 200 off of I-35 at Walnut Hill and Shady Lane. Suite 200 It is a music and arts complex with recording studios and a party room. The rental fee is decent and should leave some cash in your pocket for food and decorations. You do have to do your own catering and clean-up. The owner (Michael) is really cool and flexible. We ended up not going with that location because it didn't have the vibe or space we were going for; it comfortably holds about 150 in standing room only. So with 50 people, you would definitely have enough space for sitting, dancing, and mingling. If we ever plan a cocktail party, this is the first place we will call.
  23. Hey Kat, Sheldon couldn't get off work on Friday night, so we won't be able to make it (only have one car). Sorry I didn't let you know sooner. I am soooo sad, someone have a drink for me -- even though I don't drink. ;-) Have fun everyone.
  24. We are only FOUR MONTHS AWAY!!!! How's that for motivation, eh?! Rosie! I finally found a wedding day twin!!
