  1. Quick question for those of you having your reception on the beach. what are you doing for lighting? I am not sure if the hotel will set lights up as part of the package or is that an extra charge? Also, I know there is a $20 menu which i heard was only allowed in the ballroom. Has anyone been able to negotiate to have this menu at another location?
  2. So i am sending out my STDs probably by the end of the month (hopefully). My wedding isn't until April 2010 and I'm not sure when to send out the invitations. I was originally thinking January 2010, but all my guests need to book their rooms by this October. Does it make sense to send out invitations after guests have already made their travel arrangements and obviously know that they are invited?? Plus I have a wedding website that guests can refer to and RSVP on.... Should I just send out the invitations as a formality
  3. Did anyone sit a sweetheart table during the reception or did you just sit at a regular table? Also, was there a separate cake table?

I am interested though about the candle holders....i was thinking about having tall candle holders partially filled with sand with flower petals scattered around it as my centerpieces. If she sends you any pics, could you please post them?? Thansk.

  6. For anyone who may be planning a site visit this spring, Cheapcaribbean.com is having a sale to DT. The prices in May are pretty good. This may only benefit U.S. girls...here is the link Dreams Tulum Resort & Spa photo
  7. Hello 2010 brides!!! I got engaged on October 25, 2008 and my wedding date is set for April 24, 2010. I have been planning and researching almost everyday since December. I have actually already booked my wedding at Dreams Tulum and have been speaking with various travel agents for rates. Tammy (the one who started this site) has been great and gave me very reasonable prices on the hotel. I suggest emailing her for any info, she may be able to get you rates at the hotel you have choosen. The only thing i have yet to get any price on is the airfare and airport/hotel transfers. Hopefully I will get some figures around May. I already order my stds, which should actually be arriving tomorrow!! I'm super excited to see them! I would like to send them out asap but i need to put some final touches on my guest list. Other than that, I've just been searching the web for ideas about the cake, bouquets, centerpieces and dresses of course. Happy planning everyone!! And try not to stress out too much, we have at least a whole year to plan. Enjoy your engagement!
  8. Has anyone had the tres leches cake as their wedding cake? I know that type of cake is really moist and is usually very liquidy at the bottom. I am wondering how it would hold up as a tiered cake. Is it firm enough not to fall apart or start leaning to one side...idk hey i just noticed that i'm a junior member now! woohhoo!!

If I could figure that out it would be really helpful when planning out the week. We are getting married on a Tuesday, our rehearsal is on Monday night and I was just wondering what activities we may have to work with. Thanks everyone!! When i went to the resort (about 3 years ago) they had the same activities weekly. I don't think that has changed since i've noticed other resorts doing the same thing.

I am sure the company would let you exchange them for the regular tote bags. Hopefully they will be reasonable with you.
  11. Hi everyone, what night does the mexican fiesta usually take place? Also, I was wondering if anyone had a picture of the regular table set up? I have seen the pics in the wedding guide but am looking for a better picture, something more close up. Thanks everyone!
  12. Thanks for the input Hoosierfan!! I can't wait to see Bora Bora, I have heard sooo many beautiful things about it.
  13. I love Claudia's work!!! She is at the top of my list and hope she will be available for my wedding once we finally decide if we are going to use her!!!
  14. Hi, I am also using sky blue and chocolate brown. I was thinking about using white and light pink flowers for the bouquets. I'm not too sure about the centerpieces yet. I might keep it simple and use candles and flower petals in white and pink.
  15. Hi Pamela and congrats!! There are quite a few Dreams Tulum brides on this site. Check out our super long thread under Destination Weddings in Mexico http://bestdestinationwedding.com/forum/t25646. The first page has tons of great info! Happy planning Joanna
  16. Thanks for the instructions since I'm totally lost when it comes to using powerpoint. I do have a question about the clipart. When I downloaded a few images and copied it to a new slide and enlarged it, the image was really fuzzy and unclear. how do I get the image to look sharp like the original
  17. I think the second one works better with the beach theme and change the font color to brown. Great job!!
  18. Has anyone ordered any totes from this website?? They cost $0.99 each...which is great but i want to know what the quality of the bag is like. I know it's cheap, but i don't want it to look cheap!!! here's the website. Canvas TOTE BAG
  19. Absolutely gorgeous pictures!!! I have a question though about the packages that Claudia offers. Do they all come with an album? or will she just give you a disc and some print outs?
  20. lydiag - I am also still deciding if I should have a catholic wedding. From what I understand, a catholic wedding will only be performed in the chapel. You will need to contact your local parish and tell the priest that you will be marrying in Mexico and you will need to be granted permission to marry outside of your parish by the priest or the bishop. You also need to take any marriage classes that are necessary at your local parish. That parish must send a letter to the priest in Mexico (which by the way, I am not sure if anyone at the hotel can help you find a priest) letting them know that you took the course and are ready to be married. Also, I think I saw somewhere that if you have a catholic wedding it will be performed in spanish not english. On the other hand, if you bring your own priest, I am not sure if some of the things above apply. Also, religious weddings are not legal in Mexico so it may be better to get married by a JOP at home before heading down which is what a lot of us are doing. Hope this helps.
  21. I am pretty sure the maid of honor is supposed to be in charge of setting up the bridal shower. In my case, my sister who lives in Hawaii (I live in Jersey) is my maid of honor and probably won't make it to Jersey any time soon. So who will arrange my bridal shower? me?? Or should I ask someone else to host it?? I feel like that may be a bit inappropriate. Also, when should a bridal shower be held?
  22. Amy---The pics are great!! Everyone looked like they had the time of their life! I am considering using Claudia Rodriguez so seeing your pics was fabulous.
  23. That is so funny....I contacted both Tammy's and had to double check my emails to make sure I was sending them to the right Tammy!! lol....
  24. Hi everyone, Me and the FH are thinking about going to Bora Bora/Moorea for our honeymoon. Has anyone ever been? I have some hotels in mind (Intercontinental, St. Regis, Pearl Resorts, etc) but am looking for some recommendations. I definitely want an over water burre!! Thanks!
