  1. That does seem funny. I would call and insist that there's no way I can put a deposit down and commit to something that I have no idea of. It's not like a hotel where your bidding on a room to stay, there are many different packages and you need to know which one is best for your occasion.
  2. Welcome, I'm a Oahu Bride as well. Good luck with everything.
  3. I'm working with a wedding planner now that doesn't seem as organized as I would like her to be. Problems that I run into with my WC are communication time frame and organization. Since most people have touched on communication time frame I won't beat the dead horse. The biggest complaint I'd have is not having something solid to go by. Your situation could be different but with my WC I expect a timeline that shows what I should be focusing on right now, so many months out, and what I should be thinking of. I think it would help me to easily keep track of what's been decided on and what's coming up. Ohh, something useful we do use is google docs, basically a shared document that we can make changes to.
  4. What a timely post, I was just thinking about doing a remix first dance but wondered how I'd go about mixing the music. Thanks!
  5. Congratulations! I share in your nervousness as I second and triple guessed my more after my first deposit.
  6. Oh, thanks for clarifying that Barry Maier is a planner/coordinator. I'll be sure to look into all 3. Thanks for all the help!!!
  7. Hi, Ladies, Thank you so much for all the advice. I think I'm going to make the transition and move one. I talked it over with my MOH and she's willing to help me. I'm going to look into Aloha Beautiful Weddings. I guess with the help of this forum and some great girlfriends, I think it's going to be alright. Thanks again ladies!
  8. Hi, Everyone, I have a dilemma and I wanted to see if I could get some advice. I currently have a wedding planner that I'm working with who isn't turning out to be as helpful as I thought. I'm thinking of letting her go and doing it myself, since it seems like most things I've done up to this point. I still have about 8 months to go but I'm expected to have about 100 guests. The realistic number will be more like 75-80 but still a decent group. I'm nervous of the fact that I'm not sure who will be managing all of the different vendors the day of the wedding. We're planning a wedding at a vacation home, so it's not like we're going to do it at a hotel or anything of the sort. I'd like to get some feedback on what anyone thinks or experience. Has anyone done it themselves from a distance, with a big group size? and how was it? Thank you in Advance
  9. Ohh, wow, I'm glad I found this site right in time. This would be a great kick start and it helps to be held accountable.
  10. Thanks for all the warm welcomes. Wow, you gals are on it around here.
  11. Hi, Ladies, My name is Alofagia and me and my fiancee will be getting married in Oahu on May, 23, 2009. I've been doing a lot of planning and researching and I can't believe I didn't find this website until now (about 5 months later). I'm looking forward to hearing some human feedback on venues and other such things that are hard to pin down thousands of miles away. Alofagia
