I know I've seen the answer here somewhere but can't seem to find it when I search... Do you know whether they charge for guests not staying at the resort? and if so, how much? And is it dependent on if you have an ala carte dinner vs a private dinner, etc? Thanks!

Yay! I've finally got my date figured out - June 10, 2009 at Tulum and Jazmin is my WC. I've been working all day to figure out church arrangements - I think we may be going with the Catholic Church in Xcaret. We are bringing our own priest down so although the religious ceremony is not recognized in Mexico, it will be recognized back in Vancouver. Plus we skip out on having to do all the legal papers, blood test, etc during the first half of our trip. At least this is the plan at the moment... For photography, I am also now looking at Cancun Photography. Has anybody else used them? Any one ever use O'Driscoll photography? He is giving me a great package deal with engagement photos, full day stuff and TTD session, but his gallery online is not as impressive as some of the other sites.

Hi Soon2bePowers! Looks like we are date twins! Exciting! I thought I was on top of things, but looking at all of these posts have made me a tad nervous.. So far we've: Secured a location - Gran Bahia Principe Tulum Bought my wedding dress Bought the bridesmaids dresses (from Le Chateau so it was super easy!) Bought wedding shoes Sent out STD e-mails with flight info, etc (69 confirmed guests and counting) Booked our flight Found tentative invitation stationery In process of booking a photographer Designed my wedding cake (one of my bridesmaids and I are going to do decorations) This year is definitely going to be a busy one as I'm planning the wedding and trying to graduate medical school at the same time. Welcome to the forum and congrats! I too have a large party - 69 confirmed and counting - but it's definitely doable! Be sure to secure your venue first, then start shopping around for group discounts. You'll have a lot more leverage that way. (May be obvious, but I did it the other way and wished I confirmed my reception date first!)

Hi Calchik! Thanks for the info. This is great! Joanna - currently we are thinking of having doing the ala carte dinner, then doing a dance/cocktail/cutting cake poolside. Not sure of all the details yet as I'm still waiting to hear back from Paloma about the date. I definitely did things in a backwards order - I have flights booked and I thought my TA had taken care of the actual wedding date 2 months ago, but when I questioned her about it, turns out she's barely been in touch with the WCs at all! It's been a bit of a rocky start, but hopefully things will get better from here on.

That's awesome Joanna! how has all the wedding planning been going? Have you figured out what you're doing for dinner, etc? Tlseege - were mosquitos a problem for the poolside? Also, any recommendations about photographers? And how long is a good time to book them for? I'm looking for someone that won't be too pricey - ~$2000.

Hi All! Just wanted to introduce myself as I'm new to the forum. I'm planning my wedding at Gran Bahia Principe Tulum for June 2009 and am super excited that I stumbled on this site! I spent a lot of time reading all the different posts last night and have a ton of great ideas from all you girls. Couple questions: -I'm planning to have a pool-side reception - for those that had it, was this a worthwhile option? It's a bit pricey... but if it's worth it than I may splurge. I have a part of 80-100 coming (a bit big for destination, but you should have seen the guest list if we had it in town!) - Does anyone have any experience with planning a Catholic wedding? Thanks! Hi all, First off I want to say that this is fantastic site and am really excited to meet you all. My name is Fran and I'm getting married at the Bahia Principe Tulum in June 2009. I'm from Vancouver, BC where the rain just started dumping on us today Anyways, I would definitely welcome any tips about the resort as well as to talk with any of you that are doing your wedding there.
