  1. Alright, so I've been looking for some chandelier/dangly earrings to go with my dress, here's what I found so far....opinions?
  2. Oooh I love that dress on you AND I love your accessories. I'm looking for some chandelier/dangly earrings to go with my dress too.
  3. I'm not a newlywed...yet, but after my first year of dating my fiance, I gained 20 lbs. I've been trying to get rid of it ever since! lol

My only fear is that I have been told that if your eyes get worse as you age, you cannot have the surgery again. And you end up back with glasses. Also I hate anything eye pain related so I might be too much of a baby to get it Hey that's funny about the same prescription and everything! Yes, they do tell you that as you age you will probably need reading glasses 40+ eventually. That's why I decided to get the surgery while I'm still young so I can enjoy it, even if I do need glasses again in 20 years at least I'll have enjoyed being without them for a little while. I'm better than 20/20 in my right eye and 20/20 in my left. It's awesome!
  5. Thanks for all of your helpful suggestions girls! Four days in and I am still in extreme pain...and I'm running out of T3s, not sure what I'm going to do to cope once I'm out Cry in a corner I guess lol.
  6. Yay, I was looking for this thread! To Do: - Get wedding bands - Finalize wedding dinner menu with WC - Try to find flowers for my bouquet that match my "pearl" dress - Find earrings to go with my dress - Make home made luggage tags for our stuff - Pick a hair do/make up (easier said than done, I'm picky) - Get shoes for my dress - Finishing paying for my dress lol - Alterations for my dress - Slowly buy lots of cute new vacay clothes - Get legal documents in order for the civil ceremony - Lose another 10-15lbs (could be a while) Done: - location & guests booked - Dress picked out!!
  7. Well, I don't know too much about foundations, but I can say that I love Lancome mascara! Any of their mascaras are fab, they're expensive but well worth it in my opinion. I have heard good things about MAC products, my older sister swears by them. Good thread, I'm going to go make up hunting soon too, so this helps!
  8. Hehe thanks! I had mashed potatoes last night, but my body does not metabolize carbs very well, so I generally like to keep them to a minimum. I guess I'll just have to work extra hard at the gym when I get back to it because I don't want to starve myself just because I don't want to gain weight...it's just a bummer haha. I guess I can't have it all
  9. Hey, Sorry to jump in late but I got IntraLasik eye surgery on Jan 24/08 and I love it! I had been wearing glasses since the 5th grade (yay puberty? lol) and when I got the surgery done, I was at -5.0 and -5.25 WITH astigmatism in both eyes. They told me that my only choices for eye surgery was either IntraLasik (where they cut the flap with a laser as opposed to a knife) or PRK. IntraLasik was more expensive but the recovery time is supposedly much quicker and less painful than PRK. I paid $3,400 to get both of my eyes done at a very reputable place here in Edmonton, but it's worth it to spend a bit more on a place with a good reputation since they are your eyes after all. I have never been so satisfied in my life! If I hadn't gotten this surgery done, I'd be wearing my glasses forever because contacts just hurt my eyes so bad, to the point where I could maybe where them for an hour at a time and then it'd just feel like something was poking me in the eye the entire time. If this is something you really want, then you should do it. Just make sure you are completely aware of all the risks involved...just like any surgery. On the day of my surgery, I opted for a dissolving sedative which just makes you feel relaxed, then they freeze your eye with eye drops and get to work. The whole surgery itself takes 10 minutes max. I missed three days of work and then was right back to work afterward. If you get it done, I highly recommend purchasing a humidifier for your bedroom at night, I use mine every night because sometimes I wake up with a little bit of dry eye. I also keep eye drops nearby at all times but very rarely use them. The first few months post surgery, you will probably use eye drops quite often. Now I generally only have to use eye drops before bed. Ah, sorry for the long post. If you need more info, just send me a PM, I don't mind at all talking about my experience with IntraLasik surgery.
  10. Hey everyone, This past wednesday (Oct 8 ), I got all four of my wisdom teeth extracted. I am beyond miserable! I can't work out and I can't eat most foods, especially ones that I usually eat which are healthy. A bit of background, I spent the last six months working out very hard and I lost 20lbs (I'd like to lose another 10-15lbs). So now that all I'm basically confined to right now is jello, pudding, ice cream, yogurt, etc....I've been gaining weight, obviously. I know that this sounds pathetic but I am miserable about it. Maybe part of the gain has to do with the antibiotics they put me on, I have no clue really but it's making me so sad. Have any of you ever had your wisdom teeth out? If so, what did you eat while you were recovering? There has got to be some sort of slightly nutritious food I can eat. Well, sorry to making you listen to my pitty party but I'm desperate for some suggestions! Thanks in advance, you girls are the best!
  11. Congrats on your big day, hope it's awesome!!
  12. My fiance is pretty against wearing as he puts it "a lame flower" lol so I figure that's a definite "no" for him. I don't really care either way, since he's the one who has to wear it, so he may as well make the decision. No one else will be wearing one since it'll be just the two of us up there anyway. Since the bout is part of our wedding package, I'm not sure what I'll do with the freebie...I'd give it to my step dad (who is walking me down the aisle pretty sure, along with my mom) but I don't want to ruffle anyone else's feathers, so maybe I'll just tell them not to bother.
  13. Dress 2 is extremely flattering AND beautiful...it reminds me of the runner-up that came in second to the one I chose, and I loved that one almost as much as the one went with. Hope this helps! P.S. May I ask you something personal? Are you short-waisted? The reason I ask this, is because I am too and I found it extremely difficult to find a dress that didn't cut me in half. While I feel that your first choice is lovely and very unique (especially in the back), I feel like it isn't lengthening your torso as much as the second one, you're so beautiful and I feel you deserve a dress as equally lovely as you.
  14. I was this close to having my mom make mine, she's been sewing for most of her life and I know she would have considered it an honour. The thing is, if it didn't turn out how I envisioned, I wouldn't have wanted her to feel like a failure, I love her and would be afraid to hurt her feelings. She did offer to do it if I didn't find a dress I loved by last Saturday, luckily for both of us, I did. It saves her a ton of work between finding a pattern and fabric and making it look good on my body, even though it was a fairly simple design. Either way, I wish you the best of luck and I hope you find a dress you love!
  15. Hey again ladies! So I'm going to post two pictures of hair ideas for the big day, I know they are almost identical haha but I love them. Opinions? Would this work well with the dress?? Or me for that matter?
  16. Thanks Carly! So now the only questions left are...what the heck kind of jewelery do I wear with it?? And hair up or hair down, or half up half down?? Ughhh! lol
  17. Ok, so I'll admit I am completely clueless when it comes to men's wedding bands. So my questions are: what did your FH pick out for a wedding band? What was it made of? My FH is considering a stainless steel band, which is cost effective at $99 but I was wondering if stainless steel bands are like titanium bands as in, you can't resize them. Do any of you happen to know if that's the case? Ideally, I would like for him to have a white gold band. Thanks in advance!
  18. I love the first choice earrings but I would consider finding a dainty (not bulky) necklace to match them with your dress. Your dress is beautiful and simple, so you could get away with having a pretty necklace along with it. Hope that helps!
  19. haha, yeah, they had those porcelain dolls all over the shop, it was a little weird lol
  20. hehe thanks for the compliments ladies! Yeah, my mom's persistence about not liking the other dress I had in mind lead us to this one, so I'll give her credit for that haha. She's paying for half, so it's not too hard on my wallet but I'm scared of how much the alterations are going to cost.
  21. You're positively glowing! You look lovely! And I think I'm going to come over to your place and steal your very cute shoes haha
  22. Ok ladies! I talked my mom in to coming down today to go dress shopping with me and have her look at the dress in the other thread I made, in person...well that and to satisfy her curiosity to see me in other dresses and styles. It turns out I fell in love with a different dress than the one I showed you and it is incredibly flattering on my figure, more than the last. It was extremely expensive (in my opinion because I'm quite tight with money haha), it was a Maggie Sottero dress and after taxes is $1,300 (style name: Carla) before alterations but it's gorgeous and both my mom and I thought it looked best on me. It needs to be taken in at the bust and they need to make the bussel for the train. So without further ado here is my dress!! On the model: Carla - by Maggie Sottero Several pics of it on me (please excuse dumb facial expressions lol): So what to you all think??
  23. We're going in February 2009. Our guests staying one week (departing from Edmonton) are paying $2,200 with the group rate and those staying two weeks are paying $3,300. I hope this helps!
  24. Thanks for your opinion on my wedding look Carly, my mom really has me second guessing myself, I'm pretty disapointed by it all. In that pic you posted, I feel like I look like a bride there too and that it is really flattering in that particular pic. I can try a few more to satisfy her curiosity but I don't know what else to say to her. I'm pretty hurt that she doesn't think I look as good as I think I do. I'm currently trying to convince her to come down this saturday to see the dress in person, maybe that will help her. I am definitely having some alterations made if I get this one, the bust needs to be altered a bit as it's too loose, etc.
