Packing Gown for Airplane
~*Kathy*~ replied to Opice34's topic in Destination Wedding Dresses, Wedding Attire & rings
I spoke to my TA about bringing my dress on board too. She gave me the dimensions that the airline has for these kinds of things and told me that they will probably ask me to put it in the overhead compartment My TA also said that it might be possible that they will decide to store it in the flight attendants closet if they feel like it. The basic impression I got was that it is totally up to them. -
Congrats to you both!!! I can't wait to see all of your amazing pictures when you get back!

Failed blood tests, Panama wedding
~*Kathy*~ replied to Rob&Sue's topic in Central & South America Weddings
Hi there, I spoke to my TA a few months ago who told me she had heard of a couple (clients of hers) who were having a civil ceremony in Mexico and one of them failed the blood test. She said that although they were not allowed to carry out the civil ceremony, they were able to replace it with the symbolic ceremony. I hope this helps!! -

Just to put your mind at ease, I thought I would let you know that you don't have to use the resort photographer, but if you chose not to, you have to pay the resort a fee of $300 as they have a contract with that particular photographer. This fee is just so that you can bring in your own photographer, which you will also have to pay (naturally). There are quite a few wonderful photographers that work in Mexico that post here such as Juan Carlos Tapia, Elizabeth Medina, etc. Look them up, they do fabulous work! I hope this helps and good luck!!

We picked the Iberostar Paraiso Beach for a few reasons: - Kid friendly (two nephews ages 3 & 1 will be coming with us) - Decent price - some of our guests have been there before and had only great things to say about it - Good food (or so I've heard, especially at the Japanese a la carte) So that sums it up in a nutshell for me...hope that helps!

Just echoing what has already been said but yeah...hell no! Pick who YOU want to be up there, this day is about you and who you want to be there for you. Good luck with everything!

Well, mine's not nearly as interesting as most of you ladies! I am an administrative assistant to an executive director at my work. I file and push papers all day.

Maybe that's why both of us are so cranky sometimes! lol I've been a good wife-to-be lately so he better not have any complaints! lol

My Long Overdue Engagement Story!
~*Kathy*~ replied to ~*Kathy*~'s topic in Share your Wedding & Engagement Stories!
I was really touched too and shocked it would be so romantic!! If you knew him...lol gosh, he's just so quiet and shy! He's not the kind of guy that is generally outwardly romantic all the time. It was a very pleasant surprise! -

I will say that in the past, my FI HAS turned it down once or twice because he was too tired too. 2 - 3 weeks? You got nothing on me sister! lol I can bet that we've probably gone a good 8 weeks without having any several times lol yet he still wants to marry me, crazy boy! lol But yeah, everyone's different, it's just one of those things I suppose.

I honestly feel like there is something wrong with me-Can you be attracted to your husband but not want to have sex?!?!!? I hear ya, you're not the only one!! It's not like I don't enjoy it, it's just that I don't need to go out of my way to have it. I'll take it if he's offering but my day isn't ruined if I'm not having it. It makes me feel so bad though! I don't think there's anything wrong with any of us, just that guys are ready for it 24/7 and we're not always in need of it as often. I am very attracted to my FI too, I'm just so exhausted all the damn time that I guess I don't ever feel like it...which is sad!!

Alright, I figured I should post this so you ladies know a bit more about me other than "omg my dress this, or earrings blah blah blah" hehe So, background: My FI (Cam) and I have been dating nearly 8 years when he FINALLY proposed to me. We are highschool sweethearts and we've been living together for almost 5 years now. Lately, this summer, it seemed like everyone I went to college or high school with was now getting engaged or married and although I'm very happy for everyone, I couldn't help but be painfully aware of how NOT-engaged we were even though we live together, have a life together, etc. So on Aug 18/08, I found out a friend and former co-worker had gotten engaged, I was so excited for her but again, paifully aware that I wouldn't be getting my opportunity any time soon, or so I was lead to believe haha. So the whole drive home and evening we kind of had a heated discussion about this as I am probably the least patient girl you will ever meet (I'm trying to learn though lol!). We said our parts and that was that. The next day, Aug 19/08, I had a particularly long day at work and so I went to the gym for my daily workout. Cam needed to run some errands (or so he said, I wasn't suspicious at all though since it was believable), so he dropped me off at the gym and said he would pick me up when I was done in an hour. An hour comes and goes and he picks me up. I get in the car and he gives me a red rose without a stem. I looked at him and said "why would you give me a rose without a stem?" he just said "can't a guy give his girlfriend a flower?" so I just dropped it. We got home 5 minutes later and on the kitchen table he had laid out a long stemmed red rose with a love note beside it offering to take me to the musem (which I had mentioned to him months earlier that I wanted him to take me some time for fun). Down the hall he had another rose with another note which said he would take me to a movie (any!! haha yay!) of my choice, went down the stairs another rose and note saying he would take me to a restaurant of my choice. Finally, I got to the bedroom door (and I was tearing up at this point but trying hard to hide it) and there was a rose on the floor and a note on the door. It read that he would be honoured if I would wear "this" when we go on our dates. I opened the bedroom door which revealed a heart made of rose petals (which he plucked 9 roses himself to do) with my ring in the center of it. I was bawling like an idiot at this point he told me how much he loved me and how much I meant to him and if I would marry him. I said yes of course, but I just HAD to appologize for the night before for being such a miserable bitch. He just laughed at me and said I'm not supposed to be sad, I told him I wasn't, just that I felt awful for my spaz out. That basically sums it up! Sorry it was so long haha!

Wow!! That is a gorgeous dress!! I'm sorry to hear it doesn't fit you the way you were hoping it would. When I read your post just now, I felt like I was reading my own haha. I got engaged on Aug 19/08 and I'm having my wedding on Feb 19/09, which is a very short engagement. Like you, I had no other choice but to buy off the rack, but I did luck out. I don't know what your body type is but generally it seems like most girls can't go wrong with an a-line style dress, they're very flattering. I would have loved to wear a slip dress or something light and airy with chiffon but they always just fall in all the wrong places on me. Keep trying, I know you will find something you love, or at least like! Good luck!!

Well I'm glad I'm not the only one counting down the days! I figure it doesn't help me that I lurk these forums all day, so all I have on my brain all day is the wedding haha. It'll go by fast but I'm probably the most impatient person I know.

My Earrings Are In!!!
~*Kathy*~ replied to ~*Kathy*~'s topic in Destination Wedding Dresses, Wedding Attire & rings
Thanks girls! I love love love love loooooooooooove them! hehe Quote: Originally Posted by kevsgirl They're gorgeous! Have you tried them on? Yep! As soon as I got my hands on them! I highly recommend Novica to anyone who is looking for amazing jewelry. I could spend hours just looking at things on that site! Their shipping was super fast too, took less than a week to get from New Dehli to Edmonton via FedEx. -

~*Kathy*~ replied to heather007's topic in Destination Wedding Dresses, Wedding Attire & rings
I love both of them on you but I agree that the first one is more traditionally bridal looking. Good job though!!! -
Hey ladies, Sorry, I'm just soooooooooooo excited that my Novica earrings from India came in today!! They are so much more beautiful in person than this picture could ever capture. I love them and pray that they look gorgeous with my dress as I very much want to wear them on my wedding day. Here's what they look like! Yay!!
