  1. I voted for the PS3. My FI bought one July 2007 and loves it. It runs quite cool (even in the summer, which is amazing), it never overheats on him (which XBOXes have been known to do), it can play DVD as well as Blu-Ray Discs and will up-convert DVDs so they actually look better than they would in a regular DVD player, depending on the model of PS3 you buy it is backwards compatible with all PS1 and PS2 games, the graphics are amazing truly! There's also a decent selection of guy-friendly games out for the PS3 now, such as: - Socom: Confrontation (if he's in to online gaming) - Metal Gear Solid 4 (FI loves this series) - Call of Duty 4 - Haze - Guitar Hero: Legends of Rock, Guitar Hero: Aerosmith, Guitar Hero: World Tour I could go on forever lol...
  2. Thanks for your opinions ladies! I was wondering if I was starting to go crazy when I thought "Doesn't my opinion count anymore? This doesn't really seem to be a very democratic thing to do". I agree, it will be very interesting to see how this all plays out. Like trance_angel said, there really wasn't anyone worth voting for this last election (IMO), so it was really a tough choice in that sense. Who do you pick when you don't really care for any of them?
  3. I got some faux rose petals for a coffee table centerpiece from Ikea about two years ago. They had some reddish-pink petals, dusty rose petals, and orangey-yellow petals. Hope this helps!
  4. Thoughts? Discuss the issues here (in a friendly way of course)! What do you think of the coalition?
  5. I'm sorry to hear that happened to you. You seem to be keeping your composure, all things considered...I know if it was ME, I'd be livid! If you ever have another party, just invite the BDW gals! I hope that the BDW community can cheer you up if nothing else..
  6. Maybride2009 -LOL sorry but that is too funny, my FI says the exact same thing all the time! "Whatever makes you happy", "I don't know", "You're the boss" etc. I don't him to think of me as management! lol Not a good way to view your future wife imo, he's probably just kidding when he says that to me but yeah lol. I give him choices, he just doesn't really care about flower colors and stuff I guess hehe.
  7. Thanks Maybride2009, I added your resort to the list! I'm really sorry to hear about that, I had no idea how expensive all that stuff was until I looked in to it some more I know what you mean, I was going to do the JoP thing here and do a symbolic ceremony down there if it came down to it. Hopefully everything turns out for you in the end though!

I wouldn't want some girl about to get married freak out because she didn't do all that stuff (if it's not required from her resort). Also, this could be a good way to inform girls about this difference among resorts so that they can consider it a factor. I know when I was resort hunting a year ago I didn't hear anything about resorts requiring all this paperwork, and if I had known that some resorts did require it it definitely would have been a factor in my resort choice. I agree, if I had known when I was selecting a resort that some resorts require more paperwork than others, it would have been a HUGE deciding factor for me. Not because I'm lazy but because I'm sure I would miss something and screw it all up anyway. At least the thread is here now so future brides will have a reference when they are looking up resorts. So far we know that the following resorts do not require notarization, authentication, or translation of documents: - Iberostar Paraiso Del Mar/Beach - Paradisus Riviera Cancun - Dreams Tulum And the resorts that DO require translation, authentication, legalization (etc etc): - Iberostar Paraiso Lindo/Maya - Gran Bahia Principe Tulum - The Royal Playa Del Carmen I'm sure the list is much more larger than this, but at least we know about the ones mentioned above. Hopefully more ladies will post their resort's req's and maybe we could have a master list stickied somewhere? Just throwing it out there, I think it would be really helpful to us DW n00bs haha.
  9. Andrea - holy cow, nice work! Everything looks fantastic!! I love your luggage tag idea, that's so cute!

  11. Bridget - That dress is gorgeous!! Even though it's way too big for you, I can see that you are going to look awesome in it! Petals - You look so much better than the model, I love your unique dress!

  13. I saw this movie last night and I haven't read any of the books...yet! I really enjoyed this movie, more than I thought I would! It's romantic, but not cheesy. I thougt the acting was very good too. The only thing that would have made it better was if there weren't as many giddy, giggly women in the theater. There were two ladies sitting beside us who were giggling like schoolgirls the whole movie! Ugh! I will definitely be picking up the books asap!!
  14. Hi girls! I'm posting this here for anyone who is having or thinking of having a civil ceremony at the Iberostar Paraiso Del Mar/Beach. Here's what my TA told me after her Spanish-speaking coworker spoke to Gabriela Palacios (wc at Iberostar Del Mar/Beach) about required documents for civil ceremonies at the resort: "Hi Kathy, Karen just had a call back from Gabriela. She has reconfirmed that you just need to bring your original birth certificate, no translation, no certifying required. Just as they are is fine. She was not able to tell us why the requirements for the Lindo resort are different, just that they are considered separate resorts and all resorts have different requirements due to management and staff requirements. I trust this completely, as all of our documents with Gabriela and the resort indicate no translation is required." So I guess, for whatever reason, the Lindo/Maya do their civil ceremonies a bit different than Del Mar/Beach. I'm very relieved that I've gotten verbal confirmation from my wc that this is what the resort is asking for. Too bad they don't really go in to detail as to why they are different, just that they are. Hope this helps some other confused brides out there.

My FI tried on his sandals with his suit and it didn't look right. We'll either be buying him new sandals or dress shoes. Yeah, that's kind of what I figured too. You (usually) only get to do this once, so it may as well be a band you love looking at hehe! No worries! I was confused! My FI hasn't picked out a pair yet, hopefully they don't look silly with his outfit since I know he loathes wearing dress shoes lol. It shouldn't look too bad though, he's wearing a nice, casual, white collared shirt (rolled up sleeves for a more casual look), and a nice pair of khakis.
  18. Andrea - My FI and I are not having any maids/groomsmen, however, my FI will be wearing sandals with his khakis Yay! Congrats on finding your wedding band, I was so excited when I finally got mine...too bad it was pricier than I wanted it to be lol.
  19. Happy birthday Michelle, hope the new hubby gets ya something nice!
  20. At this point, I am seriously considering getting married by a JoP here and having a symbolic ceremony in Mexico. I was talking to my mom about it just now and feeling guilty for duping people in to thinking it's our legal day and she just said not to worry about it and to consider doing it here as an insurance policy...we're just covering our asses basically. Does anyone know if they ask for "witnesses" during a symbolic ceremony?
  21. 8 years for me and my FI. 8 1/2 by the time we get married, and he originally wanted the wedding in Feb 2010...I think not! lol
  22. My FI has pretty much stayed out of it and left it up to me, although I have asked his opinion on a few things I couldn't make up my mind about. I always ask his opinion for my hair although I'm not sure why since he likes mine a certain way and I was thinking of doing it totally different. I think my soon to be MIL has been more opinionated about what I should do than my FI, and I think she should butt out! lol
  23. Quote: Wow, that's interesting that the different sections have different requirements. You would think that if one has a service for translating that all of them would. Lucky for you, you don't have to go through the process of translating and sending them off! I'm going to contact my WC to see why it's different! Oooh, if you talk to your WC and find out about this, please share! I would love to know why they are so different!!
  24. Ryan'sgirl - that's awesome, thanks for putting that together for all of us confused brides! I'm starting to think IB* Del Mar/Beach must have some sort of a service that does all this for us. I'm just waiting to hear from my TA on Monday to confirm it. jennyFTB - I'm not sure if it's the same process as ON as it is for AB, but FI and I filled out a birth certificate application form and brought it down the Alberta Registry by our house. Here's a link to some info I found on getting your birth certificate in Ontario, hope it helps! Ontario Birth Certificate Information -School & Work - Gateway for Individuals- Government of Ontario (Canada)
  25. No problem!! I haven't gotten a logo made, I think if you do a search you should be able to find out on the forums where you can get these designed and made for you.
