JennyPenny, the wedding I went to was in the garden gazebo. It was secluded enough that there were no bystanders and it was a lovely ceremony. I saw the beach gazebo when we were there last time and it was beautiful but so close to the beach that it was far too windy for my tastes. I hope this helps!

Congrats!! If you get married at the Grand Palladium in Mexico, you will love it! I was there three years ago for my BIL's wedding and it was fantastic! When you say wedding gazebo do you mean a gazebo by the beach or in the gardens? The Iberostar Paraiso Beach/Del Mar has a beautiful garden gazebo (that's where I'm having my ceremony next month). Hmmm, while I can't say I've really been there, I will say that that is exactly why I'm trying to do this as laid-back as possible. I do not have a wedding party, I did not send STDs or official invites (I let our parents on both sides let anyone in the family who wanted to come know about the wedding...it's basically an open-invitation to family, the more the merrier but no bigee if they can't). I'm not doing OOT bags as half of the people attending have already been to Mexico and know what to expect and those who haven't probably have a good idea. I think why I'm doing it this way is part laziness (I'll admit I'm not the biggest DYIer out there, though I love what many of the ladies on BDW do for their weddings, good on em for having that kind of motivation!! ) and part trying to make this as cost-effective as possible. I have essentially made all the decisions that matter in regards to the wedding location/date/time/food/etc, and the FI just gives it his obligatory blessing haha. I'm sorry to hear you're stressed, if I lived in Calgary, I would totally offer to help you out! I hope everything turns out for you!

Hmm, interesting! All of the pics of seen of people wearing bouts for various occasions always seem to be on the left side. Maybe they do this because it should be worn over the heart? Makes sense to me that way. Good luck!

I wanted to go with something "nice" even though we've been living together for 5 years now but I can't seem to find any lingerie that I even like, so I haven't bought any yet.

I need to confess that my lazy ass needs to get to the gym more often ASAP. I think I'm letting the wedding stress get to me because I've been eating like crap and skipping out on the gym. I don't know what's wrong with me, I usually have more self control than this! ugh!

Thanks ladies! From what I understand from reading that other thread is that some provinces will change the name on your birth cert and some won't (if you legally change it that is). I guess I'll have to ask a registry agent here in Alberta to get the official word on that.

Hey girls, I wasn't sure where to post this so I thought I would put it here. This afternoon, I've been researching how to go about changing my last name after our wedding next month and I stumbled upon this thread on canadianbride.com Assuming vs Changing Last Name I was just wondering where these ladies get the impression that when you legally change your name that they change your birth certificate to match your husband's last name? That doesn't make any sense at all. From what I understand, legally changing your name is the same as assuming your husband's last name only you have to pay a fee to do it and it's much more difficult to change your name back should you (God forbid) get divorced and by either or legally changing or assuming your husband's last name, neither would affect your birth certificate/records. Does anyone have any thoughts on this? I want to legally change my name as I wanted to be as distanced as possible from my dad's side of the family with whom I share my last name (loooong story but yeah, there's a lot of negativity there and I don't want any part of it). Thanks in advance!
