I was so stressed about doing my own wedding makeup since 90% of the time I don't even wear any and I'm not particularly experienced with doing a nice job of lining my eyes....I'm so glad you and other bdw gals here thought it looked good. I guess I'm more skilled with makeup thank I thought hehe. P.S. Sorry for the derail!

I used the Bare Escentuals "get started" kit for my wedding day makeup (also did my own makeup that day). I was pretty satisfied with the outcome. I would use it daily but I lost my tan since the wedding and need to start up again as the makeup I bought was much darker than my untanned complexion. Good luck!!

When it was time to say our vows, the judge asked us if we had prepared our own. We hadn't, so she went ahead with the traditional "I Kristin, take you Ryan..." and had us repeat after her. We exchanged rings at this point. Kristin Thanks for posting this Kristin, this is probably why I couldn't find that part in the stuff I posted. You're right, this is exactly what they did at our ceremony too. I also told Gabriela ahead of time that we wanted the traditional vows.

Susan Boyle of Britain's Got Talent 2009 ~ AMAZING!!!
~*Kathy*~ replied to MarieSam's topic in Celebrity Gossip!
I think this woman is fantastic and she has the most beautiful voice...it was such a wonderful surprise! -
Jkcz - I've been thinking about this too ever since we got back from our trip. DH seems indifferent to the whole thank-you card thing, so I was thinking of doing one of those pictures of us where it has our names and wedding date on it, such as "Cameron and Katherine Funnell, February 19, 2009" and insert it inside of a thank-you card. We were thinking of sending thank-you cards to everyone that attended and everyone that sent gifts (people sent us gifts who didn't even attend and we told people not to give us anything at all lol).

"Twilight" Series and Movie Discussion--WARNING! Spoilers!
~*Kathy*~ replied to lovefreddy's topic in Random Thoughts
That draft of Midnight Sun is awesome, I would love for her to finish writing it someday. I find it much more enjoyable from Edward's perspective to be honest seeing as in the first book Bella is a bit psycho-obsessive and her adjectives describing Edward over and over and over get irritating by the end of the first one...thank goodness she calms down in the other three haha. -

I think she gave me at least 5 chances to change my mind about getting married during the ceremony and she told us that a Mexican kiss lasts about 5 minutes so she'd start her watch and tell us when we could stop! She was actually quite funny. And yup, same basic ceremony wording! hahaha, isn't she just the cutest?!?!? I LOVED her!! Yeah, she gave us ample opportunity to change our minds too haha (in a joking way of course!) and she kept teasing DH about having to "pay for the kiss first" by marrying me lol. She was a riot, I know many of our guests really enjoyed her too.

Kristin - That's a great idea, I would definitely write the lindo/maya staff and suggest this. It's so weird because they actually go around telling brides that these are things they DO need...yet they don't. That's just messed up. I sincerely hope you and your DH can get your money AND birth certificates back...it's worth a shot. I love how they've cashed your $200 money ordered for "services rendered" when they lost your stuff *rolls eyes* these places really need to take better care of things if they want people to have any kind of faith in them at all.
-
Kristin - OMG are you kidding me?!?! That sucks so much ass! What a bunch of f'in liars!! Why do they go around telling these poor lindo/maya brides that they need all of that crap when obviously they don't? Ugh, they don't even know wtf they are talking about when it comes to their own processes. That just makes me so freakin' mad, especially after ALL of the work that I know YOU and I both put in to finding out who's supposed to bring what to which resort (as far as civil ceremony req's go). DH and I were also prepared to just have a symbolic ceremony if worse came to worse, though thankfully it didn't...but still! *HUGE HUGS* to ya! That is just insane.... Looks like my post earlier about lindo/maya civil ceremony reqs is out the window...but that's ok, it means less work for all you lovely ladies!

Well, here's hoping and I'm keeping my fingers crossed for you that Reyna will have some sort of clue about your wedding. It's coming up quick, so I'm really anxious for you to go and come back so I can hear all about it! I'm sure everything will work out in the end. Awwww thanks!! You're to sweet! I shall continue to forum whore until you girls are sick of me, muahahaha! I loooooooooooove my pictures. Soooo happy with how they turned out and I'm thrilled that we look great because I'm never sure about how I look. Most people I show the pictures to don't even believe that's me since I don't wear makeup often lol I guess I look like crap most days haha!

jwalkowiak - No problemo, just thought I'd help you out so you weren't expecting the exact same thing on your big day only to be disapointed. I never had the opportunity to try out the Tropical so I'm not sure what the difference (if any) between the two of them is. Sorry I can't help more! I'm fairly positive that all the tables around the resort are the same, so yes, this should give you a good indication of table size.
-
jwalkowiak - That picture actually looks like the steakhouse....I'm about 99% sure it is the steakhouse. The Tropical is open air? The reason I think that that picture is of the steakhouse is because it's open air and it's by the blue buildings in the background (which were the buildings DH and I stayed in which are a few feet away from the steakhouse, the rest of the buildings on the beach side are red and orange and the buildings on the del mar side look totally different than that altogether). Edit: Just looked at the rest of those pics, it is definitely, 100% the steakhouse...I see that they served the onion cactus to start ine one of the pics...the exact same starter they served us with. Also further in, the exact same steak/ribs/sides that we had at our reception at the steakhouse.

briscoecrown - I totally agree with that! It's so f'in annoying...everything at the Iberostar that is wedding related comes with a price...even when they TELL you that it won't (like my flowers, obviously I'm still pissed about that lol). All I can say over and over is confirm every last detail, especially in regards to site decoration. I thought I was getting one thing and I got something completely different.

The trip is already booked (4 day early arrival) and we preferred to have only 1 wedding day. I definitely agree with you.. this is a stress point! Part of me feels like having every possible document available... Apostille, translations, birth certificates, passports, SS card, work ID, HS diploma, first grade report card (lol)... just to be on the safe side. I would be HEATED if we get down there and there's some 'last minute' change to the requirements. My pleasure!! Haha, you're so funny! It DOES feel like you should bring everything but the kitchen sink. I think the only way you're going to get peace of mind regarding the reqs is if you confirm them directly with your WC, preferrably in Spanish if you can. I really wish that they would just keep it uniform for the entire resort (beach/del mar/lindo/maya/grand)...that would be so much LESS frustrating for brides lol.

Those are absolutely gorgeous, your FI is going to love them!!!

Ok, here it is. I typed it up word for word what my paper says (they gave me a copy of what the ceremony after the wedding...why? I have no idea lol oh well, it came in handy after all!) Does this help, briscoecrown? Mexican Civil Marriage Advices Ladies and gentlemen, according to the laws of this country we are gathered here to join the bonds of Matrimony which is an honorable status: _____________ (groom) and ________________ (bride) Seeing it is a very important act, I would kindly ask everybody to remain in silence. As witnesses of this important act, there are present here: 1. _______________________ 2. _______________________ 3. _______________________ 4. _______________________ Who will sign the marriage document. A great Mexian philosopher of the nineteenth century, Mr. Melchor Ocampo, wrote in his legendary letter, the following words that until today are always read in our wedding ceremonies, "marriage", it says is the only legal and moral way to found a family, to preserve mankind and avoid imperfections of the human being who are only able to obtain the perfection of the human race through matrimony in a conjugal duality. Men and women have the same rights, but it is important to observe their respective obligations. Both of you should have respect, fidelity, trust and assistance to one another and also tenderness and love, much love. Do not fight with one another, use your heads and your hearts to correct something wrong. Both of you should be aware of the great responsibility of being parents, because you should provide your children with attention, good example to follow during the rest of their lives. I now ask two questions to your witnesses. 1. Are ________________ (groom) and __________________ (bride) persons you know well? 2. And are there any objections for them to be joined in legal marriage in Mexico? __________________ (groom) do you accept ___________________ (bride) as your beloved and wedded wife, __________________ (bride) do you accept _____________ (groom) as your beloved and wedded husband? _________________ (groom) and _____________(bride) after ratifying your wish to get legally married by means of your signature and your witnesses' signature and in the presence of your family and friends in the name of the law and the society and with the authority from the Solidaridad Municipal, here in Quintana Roo, Mexico, I now declare you husband and wife. You may kiss the bride. CONGRATULATIONS! Playa del Carmen, Solidaridad, Quintana Roo. The _____________ (day/month) of _________ (year) El C. Oficial 07 del Registro Civil. ____________________ C. ALMA ROSA ROSAS

Jeannie - I think have a a blessing ceremony is a great idea and I would have totally done that for our wedding had I known that I could prior to booking everything (I hadn't found BDW at that point lol so I had no idea). Kimrae99 - No problemo, always a pleasure helping you ladies out! briscoecrown - I know, it's totally messed up as far as civil ceremony requirements go. All they could tell me was that each resort side has their own rules that their management make regarding civil ceremony requirements lol. Hopefully they'll give you a straight answer, I know that before I knew for sure what I needed for the civil ceremony that this was definitely my biggest point of stress. Regarding civil ceremony wording, I actually posted it in another thread on BDW a little while back. I'll take a look and see if I can find it for you and paste it here for you and all future brides that are having a civil ceremony at the Iberostar. I thought it was good overall, short and sweet. It was pretty traditional but Gabriela told me that we could write our own vows but we opted for the standard/traditional vows as we were more comfortable with that. $350 just to include your own ceremony seems like a money grab to me...that makes me so irritated! Like they're not making enough money on your wedding as it is?!? Sheesh!

lilmissfrog - you are not crazy, I just noticed mine is doing the same thing too, what's up with that? -
Gail, Gabriela and Reyna do/did work together but it seemed to me like they didn't communicate with each other very well. I sent Gabriela an email prior to the wedding about something and Reyna answered my email talking about something that I had not asked about at all. I was totally irritated lol. kimrae99 - oh girl...I'll try to help but they make that crap so confusing! I see your are having a civil ceremony at the IB* Maya and I was married at the IB* Beach....what I was told that Del Mar/Beach side and Maya/Lindo side each have their own "requirements" (sometimes differing from the other and I have no idea why, I don't even think THEY know lol) for civil ceremonies. For Del Mar/Beach, all that was required of us was long-form birth certificates (no translation necessary), valid passports, 4 witnesses with valid passports and their tourist cards. We were not required to translate or have anything apostilled. If you or someone you know happens to speak Spanish, I would highly recommend you or that person get in touch with the Maya/Lindo wc and confirm the requirements in Spanish so that there isn't any confusion as to what it is you are asking them. I did this via my TA and it was such a huge relief when they told me that I didn't have to translate/apostille anything. I really hope this helps, sorry I can't offer much more on that. Good luck hun and let us know what you find out!!
