    newbie here

Welcome! I have been to the Dreams in Cabo and it is a beautiful hotel. I haven't been to the RIU, but I do know it is much closer to town. This can be good or bad... I'm sure you will find all of the info you are looking for on this forum.
  2. Welcome! I am also a PV Bride.
  3. My wedding will cost about $20,000 for the day of. This does include our three biggest expenses; photographer ($5,000), dress ($3,000) and bar ($3,000-5,000). It can definitely be done cheaper, but I know I am still spending less than my friends at home. I almost forgot- this also includes the rehearsal dinner for 50 people and a welcome dinner for 50 people.
  4. kleslie5, I love your DIY work! I am also a Playa Fiesta Bride!!! Do you know of a thread for PF Brides? I have done a search, but haven't found just what I am looking for. Thanks!
  5. I love your bottle openers! I'm am starting my search at Jo Ann's today. I have been looking at other bottle openers, but didn't want to spend a lot of money on them. Thanks for your great idea!
  6. K&R Wedding, You always have the best advise for everyone!
  7. This is what I have: 10 piece Mariachi $700/hr 6 Piece Cuban $750/hr DJ $600/all night Fire Juggler and percussion $350 for 30 min 3 piece trio $500/hour I hope this helps! I am getting married at Playa Fiesta.
  8. I made a mistake on an earlier post! I wrote about Villa Amor, but I should have said Villa del Oso in Sayulita. I confused the two places. Villa Amor is a hotel and Villa Del Oso is an actual villa. Sorry!
  9. Also, for Playa Fiesta, check out the trip advisor reviews. There are so many reviews that you will feel like you have been there. I am getting married there and I have no qualms about not visiting in advance!
  10. I'm not getting married at a villa, but I am betting married at Playa Fiesta! I just met with Lindsay in San Francisco last week and she is awesome. I can't wait for my wedding at PF, but villas are a wonderful option as well. If you are looking in PV, make sure to call Jennifer at Casa Bay Villas and Kristin at Dazzling Details. They are both great. Good Luck!!!
  11. I just want to say "Thanks!" to everyone for your responses! You've definitely given me and my fiance a lot of wonderful options to consider.
  12. Hi Everyone, Since we are all having, or thinking about having, destination weddings, I am curious to see what you are doing for a honeymoon? Is your wedding week going to serve as your Honeymoon? Are you going to stay in PV after your guests leave? Take off for another desintation altogether? I myself am thinking about spending a few quiet days at the new Dreams Villamagna after my guests leave in May. Does anyone else have any good ideas?
  13. Hi All, I haven't seen mention of my photographer yet. His name is Evrim Icoz. He lives in Portland, OR but has done several weddings in the PV area. Packages start around $4500. He is not cheap, but I think he's brilliant and has been nice to work with thus far. This is one of my favorite weddings he has done; Rancho Huracan Wedding at Sayulita Enjoy!
  14. Hi K&Rwedding, It wasn't us, but it does sound like we have covered a lot of the same ground! I wish I had found this site when I was going crazy during the initial stages of planning. We kept going back and forth between Sayulita and PV. Then it was deciding between a villa in PV and Playa Fiesta. I've heard great things about Dreams PV! I'm sure you group will have a great time there. I think we are going to honeymoon at the new Dreams Villa Magna. I am still debating whether to take a seperate honeymoon or to stay in the area and extend my stay... I'd be interested to hear what other destination wedding couples are planning as far as honeymoons go. Happy Friday!
  15. Hi Everyone, I am a newbie, but I think I have some info to add to this post. I got engaged in Sayulita in May and I'm getting married at Playa Fiesta in May of '09. In May of '08 I stayed at Playa Escondida for 7 nights. This is actually where my fiance proposed! PE is a beautiful hotel and they do offer weddings, but the terrain is very hilly and not ideal for the elderly. The rooms are really cool, but they are definitely rustic and not for everyone. I would only send experienced travels and young people to this hotel for a wedding location. PE used to have a wedding link on their website, but when we visited the manager was reevaluating their wedding packages. It seems they were losing money on their weddings. Also, the prices keep rising at PE. Some rooms have increased by 100% in price since we made our reso's last year. I do have a special place in my heart for PE and I'm not trying to knock it, but I don't think it's for everyone as far as weddings go. If you have a small, well-traveled group, then I would consider it. Let me know if you have any more questions regarding Playa Escondida. Next up- If anyone is even thinking about planning a wedding in Sayulita, please contact Andrea at Sayulita Dream Weddings. She is a gem and an awesome wedding planner in Sayulita. I met her in Sayulita and she would have been my coordinator had I decided to go in that direction. Check her out at Sayulita Dream Weddings One note, Andrea just had a baby, so she and her husband are taking the month of Sep. off. However, I think if you did email her, she would help you out. I could go on and on, so please let me know if you have additional questions. Villa Amor- I thought about having my wedding her, but the cost is $2600 for one night. This was too much for us to pay, and we decided to move on. Andrea has pics of a wedding she did there, and it was gorgeous. It has a huge lawn overlooking the ocean on the north end of Sayulita. I might have chosen VA as our location, but I think we are getting more bang for our buck at Playa Fiesta. I hope I helped to answer any questions. Take Care!
