  1. Tica_Bride - thanks for the link! It did help. I listened to a few...not too impressed so I'm now thinking of reducing the trio to a solo guitarist. And I've found another link on this site to "Ajua wedding" - they work with different musicians and sounds like their prices are lower, and even with a day pass it'll be cheaper. oh, and btw, I got my confirmation code from the resort on the wedding date - yei! Now I'll be waiting for airfares to come out and hopefully will have it booked by end of this month. -L
  2. Hello, just wanted to chime in. We're having a really small DW - my parents and my sister with family. So when we come back, in a few weeks, we'll have an AHR, I'm planning for 50-60 people, including close family and friends. We're going to do a "russian restaurant" thing - if you've been to one, you know what I mean Lots of food, dancing, drinking - we'll be doing our first dance, and cake cutting. I'm looking forward to both of course. -L
  3. GynalynL, uuuhhhhh - do tell about the dress!! Did you find yourself overwhelmed with variety of styles? Did you know exactly what you wanted to try on? Who went with you? That's too bad about not being able to book the date you want now...it is somehow comforting knowing you have made a choice have it confirm by hotel... But you know - time flies... As far as I ideas go... yeah, lots of talented brides on here. One of my favorite threads is "what I would and wouldn't do again" -L
  4. Hello ladies... I'm joining the ranks of Riu brides We've looked and looked - our first choice was Moon palace untill we found RPLA, but then after a few discussions with my family and FI - we're picking RPLA! yeeehaaaaaa! I'm rather excited and hoping to book the wedding date for October of next year. The hotel photos look amazing! Don't laugh but my very first requirement was for the resort to have an infinity pool and they do Oh and we're having a reeeeaaaally small wedding - 8 ppl, including 2 kids. We're looking at photographers and also need to figure something out for music. On the website they mention "trio" as part of optional services. Would either of you happen to know what instruments the trio includes I think i'd be happy with just a single guitarist... or a trio of guitars... Seems very romantic to me. All other details TBD Either way - it feels good to almost be ready to book! Look forward to your details. -L
  5. Marie - thank you for clarifying... I'm going to try to book in the next few weeks - honestly, I just can't wait to book! -L
  6. Morning again So how do I actually start? I mean - do I call hotel and reserve the rooms first or need to book the actual wedding with hotel first?
  7. Yep, I like the idea of umbrellas as well. They have the potential of looking wonderful in family photo session.
  8. Amazing, beautiful pictures - You look so serene! - and what a well ogranized review! Your pictures make me want a beach ceremony instead of the gazeebos... Ah decisions, decisions, decisions. Did you bring the shells for the sand ceremony with you or purchased onsite?
  9. Marie - thanks! That script would be much appreciated - honesly - I would have never even thought to ask about that We really want to leave religion out of it. As far as rooms - after speaking with my mom today - I think we'll require either two rooms in total. Can that even be considered a "block" ?? What are you doing for music ceremony? - I really want either a guitarist or a whole mariachi band - that just looks soooooooo awesomely cool What about videographer - are you having one? I see you're 6 months away... Are you stressing at all? -L
  10. Welcome Hollym - congratulations on your engagment! I'm a newby on this forum myself I'm sure we'll be running into each other What destination are you thinking?
  11. Hello ladies - I'm a recent newbie - and the more I read this thread the more I'm becoming convinced that I want to have my wedding at Moon Palace. Few questions which I haven't see asked yet...to be honest I gave up on page 48 1. We'll be legally married already in MA a few weeks before DW at MP, and we don't want a religious ceremony - should I be still looking at weddings (symbolic) or a "vow renewal" package...? 2. My wedding party will be really small - myself and FI, my parents, and my sister with her hubby and 2 kids. We'll only book 3 rooms, will MP still treat us like a true wedding party? 3. About photography - I don't mind using the resort's photographer but I really don't want the photo-package - meaning - i don't want them to print any pictures at all because we'll be having a small reception when we come back so i want my wedding album to include both events... Is it possible to negotiate not having to pay for photo-package and getting something else instead? Any advice much appreciated... Thank you! For moderators - should this have spanned a new thread - just learning rules
  12. Thank you all for a warm welcome I feel warm and cozy already. As far as feeling overwhelmed - I am with you... But keep telling myself ... choosing resort is the hardest part. See you all around
  13. Good afternoon to all former, current and future brides. My name is Lena aka Lenchika. I'm really excited to start to plan my destination wedding and look forward to stories, tips and advice from all. Our wedding date ( still have to get used to saying OUR instead of MINE ) hasn't been set yet, but we're looking for October 2009 - most likely 2nd or 3rd week of October. Destination country: Mexico Resort: we haven't picked yet...but the more I look the more impressed I get with Moon Palace in Cancun. And hello again! -L
