It was windy on our wedding day and the only thing I would change is tell my mom and my sister to put TONS of hairspray in their hair. My hair stayed still but they hadn't used any hairspray and the pics there aren't very flattering because their hair was in their face. As for sound, everyone could hear the ceremony even though we were right by the water. We didn't have a professional video done but a friend of ours did some video. We ended up removing the sound cause there was too much wind, and just adding music. I'm sure if you had it professionally done though that a microphone would be used or something. I wasn't a big deal at all and I wouldn't change my plans because of that. It was more of a relief to have something to cool us down! - definately more pros than cons.

You might want to check with them to see if you can split/share an order. I'm pretty sure that what costs them is the design of the flip flop?? If you have different designs maybe they won't count them as the same order. I could be totally wrong but I'd check with them... Also, if you do find out you can split an order start a new thread about it. Many people will skip over this thread if they've already read it. you might have better luck with a new thread! Good luck!

Hi ladies, I was reading comments on my planning thread and someone mentioned that they can't wait to see how things turned out for my AHR. I hadn't even thought of posting that but here it goes!! (just another reason to look through my pictures again!! I just can't get enough!) Here is the link to my planning thread if you want to see what we had planned... http://bestdestinationwedding.com/fo...8-3#post799466 Here is a close up of one of our centrepieces...the other ones that were almost identical to this had either all turquoise candles or all brown candles. We used these turquoise and clear "stones" on all the tables...I think. We also had 5 tables that each had 3 martini glasses filled with turquoise water and one white floating candle in each. The turquoise and clear stones were scattered around the glasses too...they were very nice and simple actually. You can kind of see them on this table. You can kind of see in this one where we had 5 tables with the round vases (there's one to the left in the front). Those were also filled with turquoise water and had white floating candles in them. I'm not sure if we put the "stones" on these tables but I'm super happy with how I think they kept with our theme of being nice and simple! yet there were very pretty! Here is my cousin/Goddaughter/Junior bridesmaid entertaining our guests by interupting our first dance. Many said it was the highlight of the night! She picked up the microphone about 1 minute into our first dance and said "That's enough slow dancing for tonight guys, let's pick up the pace a little!" Then the DJ began to play her fiddle music! She proceeded to do some step dancing, some fancy foot work on the chair, played the spoons...she was so entertaining and so darn cute! She's very talented and she's only 11! A good ol' Cape Breton wedding (if you know what that is!) - and it's so not me, hence getting married in Jamaica! but my guests enjoyed it all!! Here's us watching her dance. I had tears in my eyes cause I was so happy that she got to feel so special. She was so excited!! I had to keep looking at DH so that my guests wouldn't see me cry! I think that's it. Sorry I didn't get better pictures but after our week in Jamaica I was so sick of carrying a camera around that I just counted on others to do it for the AHR!!!

Haha, I totally understand! The bride thing had me making decisions that I went back and changed because it's like you have to think a certain way! Good luck with everything and enjoy the process! It'll all be perfect!! Don't worry!

I looked into the partyflops, wow I couldn't believe how much shipping is from to Mexico to the states! Yikes! Yeah I was their first Canadian customer so they gave me a special price. I lucked out! I did my own invitations and on the bottom of each page I had two monograms printed. One was for the front of the invite and the other was for putting on tables, flip flops and Welcom Bags. Thanks for the compliments!! I love when people love my stuff!! If you need any help with anything else just ask!!

I think it would have to be a special request though.

What have I learned from planning a destination wedding?
montegobay09 replied to shellb's topic in Random Thoughts
I can't believe I didn't see this thread before! I learned that... * Just because I'm a big family person, doesn't mean "family" need to be blood related. The friends that came with us feel like family now and everyone on the trip agreed that we were such a cohesive group and it felt like one big happy "family". * Extra decorations aren't necessary to make a white sand beach in the Caribbean look weddingy. I saw weddings that were all decked out and my first thought was...added stress! I loved that our decorations were simple...and free! *Midol definately does help keep the tears away and calm your emotions. I cried all morning and every time I'd see my Mom and Dad. After the Midol I was fine! *Plan a group excursion for shortly after your wedding. We did a snorkeling excursion the day after our wedding. It only left at 3:00pm so we had lots of time to recover and it was the best day. We were all so relaxed and even those who didn't snorkel said it was so worth it! It was the best "wedding reception" ever! I'm sure there's more and I ditto what other brides on here said too...love this thread Shellb! Thanks! -

Now lets just maintain this! We're still maintaining!! It's so funny looking at this thread now that it's all over! All that planning and the day went by so fast. I'm so glad i had a DW though so that I could relax and enjoy the beautiful day. thanks to everyone for all the compliments and wishes!

Real vs. Fake flowers- your opinions?
montegobay09 replied to KJT1985's topic in Wedding Flowers, decoration, cake, etc.
I packed my floromatique flowers in my carry on with no cushioning at all and they stayed beautiful. I got them from Bittersweet Wedding Designs as well and they were a super good price - not even comparable to the $250 the resort was going to charge me for a real one that's not as full! - Everyone thought they were real. I think they look pretty damn good after being packed in a carry on! -
I completely understand what you meant. The whole judgmental statement was there to probalby avoid comments about why you're having your AHR so soon after your return. I had my AHR 6 days after we got back too. We had our video ready and our pro pics had been sent to us right away because we requested that. It went really well. A fun idea I liked and that kept our party going was instead of tinkling glasses to make the bride and groom kiss...we had 2 hoola hoops and people had to try and make 2 complete rotations with them and then we'd kiss. We ended up using the hoola hoops all night on the dance floor and people kept coming up to us to try and make us kiss. It was hilarious and kept the party going. It sounds like you put a lot of thought and effort into your AHR. It was DH's idea to have our AHR so soon after our arrival and as much as I thought I would've preferred a backyard bbq in July...I'm glad it's all over with now and we can just enjoy being married!! Good luck and happy planning!
