Oldest Friend Won't Come - Need to Vent
montegobay09 replied to jenniebey's topic in Just venting or funnies
I'm so sorry this is happening to you and you're totally justified with dwelling on this just for a little bit to get it out of your system. I had the same feeling when one of my BM's backed out and I actually shed a few little tears in front of her which I didn't want to do but take the time to be sad about it for a day or two (a week at the longest!) because it just shows that you're a caring person and that you have a big heart. Then you'll move on to the thinking that you know will come. You'll be so happy with all the people that are actually coming that you will barely notice that she's not there!! When I think back to it I'm still disappointed that she couldn't be there but it's really her loss in the end cause we had an amazing trip and I got to become very close with the people who put our wedding at the top of their priority list. It's not a great feeling now but like you said, you'll have a blast anyway. good luck and hopefully you don't have any more cancellations! -
I'm definately going to forget to say everything I thought/felt while reading this!! You are such a strong person and I'm so happy that you got to have your father daughter dance. That is so special. You have definately brought tears to my eyes! Your ering is gorgeous! You joined BDW the same time as I did and I feel like I've been with you through the planning process but I had no idea how detailed you were with your planning! Great work!! Everything looks beautiful!! I totally know what you mean about wanting to go barefoot for your wedding but if I could give you some advice...I don't know what ceremony location you chose at RMB but I don't think any of them would really be a "barefoot" location. You have to walk through pathways, over rocks...etc and I'm totally happy that I decided to go with shoes for my wedding. The sand is super smooth close to the water but your walk down the "aisle" isn't as smooth no matter what location you chose. Your dress looks gorgeous!! I can't wait to see you pictures and read your review!! I am sure that your week will be perfect and your wedding day will be a dream come true!! Keep up updated!!

I know you said that food doesn't sway your decision but in the end that was why we chose Jamaica. We had already been to Cuba and I was fine with the food but DH had some minor stomach issues throughout the trip. The food was WAY better in Jamaica and made our trip much more pleasant! Good luck! No matter where you choose you will have an amazing time. I know how hard it is to choose but in the end it won't matter where you choose...it'll be a blast no matter where you go!!

We got married on the 15th and nothing yet here either. We did get an email though (after sending quite a few!) and she wanted our address. I guess she had lost it or something so hopefully we'll get it soon!

Ugh.... why can't a party member just tell you!
montegobay09 replied to Jacilynda's topic in Just venting or funnies
Wow, I can tell you truly admire the love this family has for each other. No judgment here!! Everyone has a part of their life that's not as "pretty" as they'd like! As for the bridesmaids I hope everything works out and they all end up making it but in the end if they don't I wouldn't worry about it. I had 2 or my 4 BM's come and DH had 3 of 4 GM come. We made it work! Our MOH and BM walked up the aisle together and my other BM had 2 GM..one on each arm. All that I really cared about in the end was that everyone who did come felt special and that we had witnesses to sign our marriage certificate! You'll still have a blast and your day will still be perfect no matter what happens! Good luck with it all! Hopefully the drama dies down soon! -

I got an email from the WC saying that she needed our mailing address. Sent that to her so hopefully we'll get it soon! -

You are doing exactly what I did with my colors. my girls had turquoise and my guys had brown. I found sandals for my girls that were brown and had a shell flower on the toe that was kind of bronze colored...I'm sure you'll find somehting. I liked how our colors blended, I'm sure you'll love yours. I don't think it's boring at all! I did think of adding a bright orange at one point though but in the end I figured...the simpler the better!

ROR vs. MoBay vs. Ritz-Carlton
montegobay09 replied to TaniBBurwell's topic in Destination Weddings in Jamaica
the RC is definately the nicer and more upscale resort. if you're comparing the others it gets down to the minor details. the planes at rmb didn't bother us...the RC is almost as close to the airport ar RMB. -
Love it all...great work!

So glad to hear everything has worked out for everyone. Communication is always difficult when they're so busy and we're so far away. Usually everything works out in the end though!! congrats to everyone!

I cant remember the resort....
montegobay09 replied to heartbeat's topic in Destination Weddings in Jamaica
I'm not sure about the # of weddings per day but I know that the Sandals Royal Caribbean is a smaller resort that do weddings but don't have a whole lot of them at all. It's a beautiful resort and I wish we could've gone there for even a few days after our wedding. Great service too....what a treat! You must be so excited Amanda! Great work getting all that stuff worked out with the WC and with Tai Flora! Sounds like you will have an amazing and beautiful day! Remeber to relax and enjoy every minute of it...even if it all doesn't go as planned it will still be a perfect day. -
Location of your first dance/ Suggestions!
montegobay09 replied to jennie's topic in Destination Weddings in Jamaica
I was as RMB but we chose to do our first dance shortly after the ceremony and it was absolutely beautiful. Doing our first dance right on the beach was one of the best decisions we made for the wedding...unforgetable!! Our guests all had tears in their eyes. -

We're going with the free wedding too, so any insight you provide is GREAT! I am forever grateful! The blue sashes are sorta cute on the brown chairs...sorry if this has been asked already, but how much were they? I have a feeling I'm going to be shelling out a heckuva lot for a piece of fabric. Do you think it's smart to bring sashes with us instead? Could be kinda heavy on the plane ride over, but if we dispurse them throughout our guests' suitcases, maybe it'll work? We're expecting about 30-40 guests...and 30-40 sashes could add up easily! Mine were free cause Marshall1980 left them there for me. All I know about the price (and yes I've been asked enough times that you'd think I could remember!!!) is that it was WAY more worth it to buy them online. She got them for less than $2.00 each which saved her a ton of money. For some reason $18.00 rings a bell...I'm not sure what that was though...someone else will have to get the price for you cause I didn't care enough about them to pay for them! haha! I would've just went with the brown chairs cause my idea was that the sand, sky and water were beautiful enough and we didn't need any extras. Having said that, the extra decorations are definately beautiful and if you're willing to pay for them they do make it very pretty...just not our style! Good luck and don't hesitate to ask any more questions...I'll do my best to answer them. I'll also check to see if I have more pics...don't think so though.

http://bestdestinationwedding.com/forum/t37144 I posted the price lists on this thread We had one of Michaels assistants for our wedding and it was a surprise. We had been told we were getting Micheal but apparently there was a "mis-communication". Anyw'funay, we had Lincoln take our photos and they were very nice. They definately weren't as "fun" as Michael's (we got a photo shoot with Michael a few days after the wedding) and Michael is definately more of a real photographer than his assistant, but there pictures were still very nice. I would advise that if you know Michael isn't going to be your photographer, that you give your actual photographer some examples of fun photos that you would like to have. I simply asked mine to be spontaneous and creative and we got very nice photos...just not too creative. good luck!! oh and if you want some examples of the difference between Lincoln's photos and Michael's photos just pm me with your email and I'll send some to you.

Questions about Montego Bay Wedding

My other question is about the photographer.....did you have to find your own or did the resort provide one? If you use the search here on the website and seard for RIU Montego Bay you will find a lot of information on it. This will be easier than repeating everything here! Here is one of the main threads with lots of info.... http://bestdestinationwedding.com/forum/t37144 good luck! -
As I read though this thread I realized it could be a lot more helpful! Here are some pics and info that might help out even more... Here is the setup that I got for the Free Wedding Package. The only thing extra here is the sashes. Here is the cake we got with the Free Wedding package...no extras at all. We actually asked for all white icing and that message didn't get communicated to the cake maker. I don't think Chantelle liked the idea so she just didn't send the message ??!! Here is the beach gazebo from the water. I'll post more later...just got a call and forgot I was supposed to be somewhere!!

Wow, that's really shocking that they're putting together a school like that. i feel pressure to perform! Those teachers must feel so honored to be considered for something like that but I'm very happy with what I'm doing right now and I don't think I'd want to do what they're doing. I feel like my life and my job are very balanced right now and taking on extra duties like that would take a lot of adjusting to. Great idea though...good for them!

I would say that the chair cover rental fee is only for the ceremony and that you'd have to pay to get them for the reception as well. I have to comment about the tables at the reception dinner though. For some of us who are having a destination wedding because we don't want the hassle of typical "wedding" stuff the tables are absolutely great. So if you're a person who likes plain and simple like me... please don't feel pressured to bring extra stuff. I think the tables are great as they are. Sure the chairs are blue but you're overlooking a tropical beach and a beautiful pool...what better decorations could you ask for? I totally think that putting a bit of your own special touch to the table couldn't hurt but if you're having a destination wedding so that you don't have to worry about that stuff...don't worry about it! Everything will be great!! Here's a picture of our table at night where you can see the chairs better than in my other photos... And here's a photo of the table when we first sat down when it was still light out. You really don't notice the chairs at all...especially after everyone's sittting!! If you want to cover them then go ahead...I think it'll be beautiful! but like I said....don't feel like you have to...

I did it too...Dad was actually really happy that Mom was there with us too! He was a little shy about the whole spotlight idea so it was nice to have 3 of us walking down the isle! Do what you want to do! - Glad you decided to go with it! btw...our aisle wasn't wide enough!! haha!! We walked down the beach and there was plenty of room but once we got to the isle Dad still held on to my arm but kinda had to take a step back to let me and Mom walk through. Oh well!! - maybe if you mention it to you WC first they will try to move things around to make room??!!1
