My Montego Bay Travel Book

Wow! You did a ton of work!! Very useful, Thanks! -
I feel for ya!! FI and I went through the same thing when we were booking. FI is from Barbados and we wanted to go there to get married. We were given 2008 prices that were $2300pp which we though was pricey but worth it cause that's where he was born. Then when we went to book for 2009 we were told the best price was $2950pp which we thought was outrageous! We were VERY disappointed cause we had our hearts set on Barbados and had even chosen our resort. It felt like it was "our" resort. When we had to switch we even considered not having a DW cause it just wasn't going to be the same but now that we're booked we're just as excited for Riu MoBay as we were for our resort in Barbados. We don't even really think about it anymore and we plan on visiting Barbados for our 1yr anniversary! Keep your spirits up and who knows, maybe there will be a sale in the near future! That's what happened to us and we booked right away...and btw, the increased price for weddings which happens to all of us who need to book way ahead of time, did not deter anyone who wanted to come from coming. If someone really wants to come, they do what they can to make it!

I've heard of this before but, like you, I don't think it'll happen to me cause I could never go without eating!! I love it too much. And I'm hoping to not be very stressed as our big day approaches. I've also heard of people actually putting on weight before their wedding because of the stress so hopefully that won't happen either!! Yay, another Riu MoBay bride!! Congratulations! I'm sure you'll find everything you need on here! Welcome!

I was really intimidated at first! I just filled out the part that says "contacto". I had to look up a few of the words with a translator but it was pretty basic. After I did that all our communication was in English and they sent me a copy of their catologue with #'s beside all the designs so that made it easy to order. I ended up asking them to make a pair directly off their website and that worked out too!! Here is the digital image they sent me that they designed just for me. I got this about a month ago and when I got the flipflops today this is exactly what the look like! The brown ones are for the men and the turquoise for the women! I don't know exactly what their prices are cause they told me today that they've changed them. I was very specific about what I wanted...I order 32 pairs, 15 men's and 17 women's and I also specified which sizes I wanted in each. You don't have to be that specific though. They told me that they usually have a percentage that they work out for sm. med. lg. which usually works out for their customers. I do know that the price they originally quoted me was exactly what I was charged. The $$ exchange was done through paypal and it all worked out great. They asked me to pay 50% of the order before they began making them (after the design was agreed on) and then I only paid the last part when they were completely done.

Well ladies, I didn't think it would happen but I have another update. It's actually kinda sad looking at those pictures with FI's jacket on the chair cause less than 2 minutes after I posted those pictures for y'all to see my new hair 'do I tried to light my stove and well....another disaster!! We had an old pellet stove that used lighter fluid to start it. Well, the lighter fluid bottle caught a flame and when I went to blow it out it flashed into my face. yup!! pretty crazy!! I had 2nd and 3rd degree burns to my face and I thought for sure that I was going to have to cut my hair super short cause it got totally singed in the fire. After I got the flames off my face and hair I turned around and my living room was on fire!! So it's kinda funny looking at those pics cause FI's coat was still lying on the chair and I grabbed it on my way out the door so that I could keep warm outside. The chair in that pic is fried to a crisp right now and in it's place is a brand new chair that I actually like a lot better but I still miss the old one! Anyway, it just goes to show that there are much more important things in life to worry about than my silly hair disaster!! I'm doing great now and if you didn't know I was burned you'd never know it! The doctors say that because the face is so vascular, it heals very well and I shouldn't have any scarring after a year of recovery. and even if I was getting married tomorrow, my face looks pretty normal so I was really lucky!!! I plan on posting pics later so that everyone can see that I'm fine!! All that matters now is that FI and I are together with our family and friends. As much as I'm still working on details about the wedding, I'm trying to focus more on how lucky we are to be having such a wonderful wedding with wonderful people. Oh yeah, and my hair turned out ok too. Turns out that I lost about 1/4 of my hair but because I only lost little chunks throughout, you can't really tell a whole lot. I have a lots of weird, odd-lengthed hairs sticking out in places but as long as I wear it wavy you can't really tell!! So much for the hair disaster!! The face and house disaster were much worse!!!!

I just got my favours delivered to my door today and I love them (looked for a spot specifically for favours but couldn't find one). I ordered flipflops from partyflops on this site Party Flops . I found it cause another bride on here had used them and thought they were perfect so I went to the site. I was a little intimidated at first cause the site's in Spanish but I filled out the contact us information and someone responded to me in English right away. Their communication was great with me and I got exactly what I wanted. They got very specific information from me and...did I say it?...I love them!! I'm so happy to be able to give these to my guests...and the prices were great too!! They ship quickly and are great to work with. Partyflops is just starting to expand their business and they did a great job for me...i hope they do the same for you. I wanted to post picks of my personalized flipflops but I can't remember my username for photoshop. I just got it to send it to me in an email but I havn't received it yet so I'll post it as soon as I get that email...

How are all you April brides doing? It's definately time to kick it into gear. We're only months away now and we can even start counting weeks...eeek. I started counting my calories on sparkpeople.com and it has really helped me to make better choices. Before I eat something junky I think about what I've already eaten that day and I can decided from that if it's worth having the treat. It's really working well for me and by doing that with exersice I've lost 2.5 lbs in 1.5 weeks. It's great! What are you doing to stay on track so close to our wedding dates?

Any reviews for Riu MoBay weddings yet?
montegobay09 replied to Zinski's topic in Jamaica Accommodations & Site
RMB12/4/08 did you post a review on here? I can't seem to find it. The only one I can find is Indigo's. ARe there any others out there? -
I was told the same as you but I don't know anyone who's travelled without it. I would recommend that when you fill out your passport application that you write in your departure date as earlier than it really it. A friend of mine had to wait until the week before she left to receive her passport. If you write in that you're leaving 2 weeks before you really need it then you should have it in plenty of time. Just a suggestion but I would hate to have that on my mind so close to the wedding. but like some others said...they usually come in earlier than you would expect so don't worry about it. I'm positive you'll have it in time for you wedding. and if not... then you can update this thread and let us know how the travelling went!! good luck!

April 2009 Brides Check In!

Because of our house fire I didn't get to them until this week but they're finally all done and now I just need to get the envelopes addressed...FUN! haha FI's attire for the wedding came back from the dry cleaners and all the sut (sp?) from the fire is out and they look just like new again...thank goodness! So that's one stresser that I can leave behind now. Like most of you the nervousness of getting everything done is definately kicking in but I'm so happy to say that I'm more calm then I thought I'd be. I think I will be able to relax and enjoy the whole process. Initially I really thought when we got this close that I wouldn't be able to just enjoy it but so far so good!! I'm more excited than anything else especially since I just got a new binkini from Victoria's Secret yesterday and it fits great! Can't believe I'll be wearing it in less than three months!!! YAY for all us April brides! We're almost there! -

hmmmm, I'm second guessing the beach ceremony too even though that was supposed to be the main idea we wanted "beach wedding' doesn't seem to work without the beach! I'm torn! didn't rmb12/4/08 get married on the beach? She said it wasn't that bad didn't she! I know there were some stupid people but for the most part I don't think it was too bad. ugh, decisions, decisions. -

Also, I think the sale is still on at Moores. Thanks Shellb, I will let you know if we need anything from Halifax. We actually ordered FI's shirt from that website but his pants came from ebay. So far the cleaning company is saying our clothes are fine, so I'll just have to wait and see for myself when they get back from the drycleaners on Monday. Thanks for the help! I'm getting my computer back on Monday too so everything should start rolling again after the weekend! Wish me luck! -

OMG! Under 100 days?? Ok now I'm nervous. I even started having dreams about being in Jamaica and having no idea what to do cause I wasn't ready. Good new though. The cleaning people that came in after our house fire finally located my cardstock and envelopes today so I can print them off as soon as I get our computer up and running. I knew I should've kept my invitation on something other than the laptop!! I think once I have those out of the way I'll stop freaking but I'm really feeling stressed about the whole invitation thing. I am so well prepared for everything else and this just got away from me. AHHHHH!! Can't wait to have them done!!!!
