Hi ladies! I'm actually writing this for a friend of mine who needs a motivational partner in this weight loss battle. I was telling her how I met someone on BDW who is the same height and weight as me and who's wedding is 4 days before mine. Our twice daily emails have kept us in check with our eating and has motivated us to lose 10 lbs in the past little while. We have the exact same goals so everything worked out very well for us and if one of us lost weight one week, that was just motivation for the other one to work harder and lose the next week. Anyway, my friend is looking for someone who matches her goals and I thought this would be a great place to look. So we're looking for someone who is around 5'7" and weighs appox. 150lbs and who is getting married in or around September 2009. I know that sounds super picky but it's a great way to keep up your motivation and it really helped us that we had the same timeline and the same goals! So if you, or anyone you know comes even close to that description you can either post on this thread or PM me and I'll hook you up!! Good luck with the weight loss!!

Welcome bags for guests
montegobay09 replied to Jamaicabride409's topic in Destination Weddings in Jamaica
We're keeping our bags very simple and we're giving them out the day after we arrive too since we are in the same situation as you. We just have purell, sunscreen, kleenex, scented tea lights (2), and a pair of our personalized flip flops as our favor. That's all we're doing cause I felt like if we put too much in them, a lot of it would go to waste cause they wouldn't necessarily use them. I will make sure I bring first aid stuff and peptobismal, etc. and let everyone know that if they need anything they can come find us. I figure that's more effective than giving everyone stuff that they may not need! Good luck!, oh yeah and somewhere on here there's a master list of OOT bag contents... here it is http://bestdestinationwedding.com/forum/t28059 -
Any reviews for Riu MoBay weddings yet?

I'm trying to help get as much info as possible on anything & everything regarding the RIU weddings in Montego Bay. If you go to the sticky in the Jamaica forum on RMB Wedding Dates there is a page of very detailed questions and answers. You can contact Chantelle at the resort and she will eventually get back to you. You may want to contact her before she contacts you just to book where your daughter would like to book her reception. Other than that, you'd just need to book a photographer (if it's not included in your package) and the rest of the info should be right here on BDW. Just do a search and you'll get tons of info. Good luck and happy planning! -
Thanks for the other sites btw. I think I'll be ordering from the guest book site! That's exactly what I was looking for!

Here are the sites/companies I've ordered from so far with a short review... Everyone knows about Party supplies, crafts, party decorations, toys: Oriental Trading I'm sure but I just wanted to say that I ordered my OOT bags from here and realized afterwards that I ordered too many. I emailed them with all the info to return one of the packages and they promptly emailed back telling me that they had credited my card and to just keep the extra bags and donate them to a charity! I thought that was amazing customer service!!! A also used the amazing Sproullie Designs | Custom Photobooks, Invitations and more! for my monograms...I am sooooo happy with them!! I even re-designed my invites to incorporate one of the monograms on the front. They are so inexpensive but do take a while to get made. She emails them right to you. I know most BDW brides know all this but it was a great find on here that maybe someone didn't know about!! Last and definately not least was Party Flops for my amazing personalized flip flop favors! I love love love them! and can't wait to give them to my guests in Jamaica. This company had great communication and paid attention to every detail of my order. You'll be so happy with the flip flops!!

We had planned on doing OOT/Welcome bags and then realized how expensive it was getting all that stuff plus favors. Then I found this site Party Flops and fell in love with the personalized flip flops. So instead of doing a total OOT bag and then favours we decided to give the very basic (sunscreen, antibacterial lotion, scented tea lights) oot bags with the flip flops in them too and then not do favors at the reception. I think they'll enjoy the gift more if they get them at the beginning of their trip. For our AHR we are making a donation in our guests' names.

Ladies i need your help!!!
montegobay09 replied to ylopez87's topic in General Wedding Planning Information
I think it's fine that you just send them out and not worry about what others will think. I think it was actually more difficult that some of my family knew long before because it just gave them longer to make up excuses for not going! As for avoiding last minutes guests, you could always make the invite more of an announcement of your wedding and then invite them to an AHR if you're having one. I'm sure others will be much more knowledgable on the etiquette of all this!! -
Riu Montego Bay Wedding Review - Indigo 12/06/08

I think you'll see on other threads on here that most brides here ended up deciding on the "free" wedding package and then adding on the extras that they wanted instead of paying for extras that they didn't need and then wanting more specific things too. A few people had even chosen another package and then changed their minds later to the free package. That's what I've done and I'm very happy with that decision! -
Hmmm, that's a tough one. Mabye something like (your name) and (his name) will be having a small and intimate wedding ceremony in (location) on (date). Here's something I found online: When you announce your own marriage, the announcement is quite short. Simply say, " Elizabeth Ibarra and Samuel Jones are pleased to announce their marriage on..... at ...... We will be making our home at ......(address)" If you are having a reception and want to combine the announcement with a reception invitation, you can say, " Elizabeth Ibarra and Samuel Jones are pleased to announce their marriage on..... at ...... We invite you to join us for a reception to celebrate our marriage on... at...." View the cards as a way to tell people about your marriage, your new address and your married name. Hope that helps!!

I have tons of pics that match with those colors but the only flowers I can imagine having are white calla lillies in a very simple bouquet so that's what I'll be getting for me. Here are a few other pics...if you want more,PM me with your email address and I'll send them to you! Mine isn't quite like this but it's kind of the same idea I just love the color orange and how it contrasts with the turquoise! If I had a wedding at home and had planned more decor I would've added the orange to my colors. My living room is actually these colors. -
April 2009 Brides Check In!
montegobay09 replied to tchuchuca's topic in General Wedding Planning Information
We made an appointment for monday to get our documents notarized and ready to be sent off! It's actually making it feel real!! I even packed a suitcase this weekend with all the Welcome Bag stuff and our Favours. I figured it was taking up room in the house, I may as well get them ready to go! haha, that makes me sound like I'm so organized but it was really procrastination! I still have to choose my music for the ceremony which for some reason is something I keep putting off. I think it's cause I really don't have a preference for any song during the ceremony. We also need to make up a playlist for our AHR which is the weekend after we get back from Jamaica.hmmmm, still lots to do so maybe I should get off the computer and get going on that stuff! -
I think that if you just want the e-ring you can use that in the ceremony and who cares what everyone else thinks!! Like you, I didn't want to take away from my ering with a band. I really wanted to find something but was hesitant cause my ering is so unique (for around my small home in Cape Breton anyway). I ended up finding one that somehow suits my ering perfectly and I love it so much that I try it on about once a week with my ering just to remember what it looks like! If you really don't want a band definately stick to your guns, but if you're undecided I think you could definately find something that you would love just as much as your ering. Happy planning!!
