  1. I bought my cardstock through stampin' up..it's a scrapbook business and there was a local retailer close to me. I ordered the same amount of chocolate brown and turquoise paper. I made the cuts according to how much writing I had on the invitation. I don't have a measuring tape with me right now so I'll just try to explain for now... ...I printed the two monograms below the writing part of the inviation on the turquoise paper. I cut the turquoise paper just below the writing which left a strip with two monograms on it. I then had to cut a tiny bit (approx. 0.25 cm) off each end of the turquoise so that it left space to be able to see the brown along the sides. I then cut the brown about 0.5 cm wider than the turquoise so that when I stuck them together I'd have 0.25cm of brown all around the edge of the turquoise. Then I started on the monograms. For my first one I cut around the monogram as close as I could and made sure it was centered. I'm pretty sure that my monogram was 4x6, the brown around it was 5x7 and then the last turquoise piece that gets glued to the front of the invite was 6x8 ... something like that anyway. For the second monogram I didn't have enough turquoise left to do the 3 layers (turquoise, brown turquoise) so I just did the two (turquoise, brown) and I am using those to attach to my favours and welcome bags. To stick everything together I got some double sided tape from walmart and it comes with an applicator and some refills. For the first 50 or so we were putting tape all around the edges of the turquoise to make sure it stayed there but we were using WAY too much tape so we started putting just a tiny bit on the corners and that ended up working just as well. I would say that the hardest part was folding the invites cause my fingers got really sore from pressing down on it so much. I recommend using something with an edge on it to push down...I was using our tv remote control and that worked fine. I think that's all I did...I'm so excited you like them and might try them out!! Let me know if there's anything else I can do to help!
  2. My bridesmaids will be walking down to the same song as me too. The sand ceremony is seperate...you have to plan for it if you want it and get all the accessories. (we're doing the hand ceremony so that we don't have to transport all that stuff...especially coming home after the wedding!) Not sure about the music...can't see why not!
  3. Good luck with all that! I wasn't even excited to try on dresses but it turned out to be so fun! Can't wait to hear how it goes!
  4. They look so good! I love that it's different from anything I've seen. People will definately remember your invites! I'm sure lots of brides to be will "borrow" your idea!
  5. I just remembered/realized that I could copy and paste the wording on the invite cause someone had asked what it says...here it is. The left side says... A beautiful beach A clear blue sky A love united With waves crashing nearby gisele _________ & gavin ___________ together with their parents invite you to share in their wedding on April 15, 2009 at 4:00 pm on the beach at Riu Montego Bay Resort, Jamaica Buffet dinner, slide show of our beach wedding and cocktail reception to follow at ________________________ on Saturday, April 25, 2009 at 7:00pm and the right side says... ☼ Book your trip to Jamaica by calling More information on our wedding can be found on our wedding website Gisele Boudreau and Gavin Naime | Our Wedding Website Password: ___________ ☼ RSVP to our NS reception by emailing us at ________________ or calling us at (___________________by March 7, 2009. Please let us know how many people are coming including yourself. the copy and paste job didn't really keep it all aligned but you get the idea.
  6. Sorry ladies, apparently a wordperfect document isn't a file that's recognized here on BDW so I can't upload it onto here. If I knew how to change it to another file I'd do it but unfortunately I'm not that skilled. I just followed the directions on that website though so you can do it too!! Believe me, if I can do it you can for sure!! If anyone else has any suggestions about how I can get it on here just let me know! gisele
  7. Let's try that one again...I actually laughed when I came back and read my post with the pic of my shoes instead of our flip flops!! oops!
  8. I can't believe I forgot to ask!! I was told that there was not a steamer available at RMB but you said Chantelle was able to steam your dress after getting the stain out...is this available for all of us?? Thanks for the message on the flowers!
  9. LOVE your hair flower! Were they real flowers? or where did you get them??!! Beautiful pictures too! Congratulations
  10. Thank you so much for writing this review!! It's so reasuring to know that everything went to well!! Love you pics too! Congratulations!!
  11. Wow, I'm so happy that so many of you love my invites!! They were really very easy actually. I followed these directions Do it Yourself Wedding Invitations Kits and How to Print Onto Them on how to set up my corel wordperfect document and then picked out the rest myself! I had originally designed my own monogram for the front but I wanted something more tropical so I got Sproullie Designs - Custom Photobooks, Invitations and more! to design it for $4 or $5. I absolutely love the monogram!! To get the monogram onto the page I had to click on insert and then on file and then upload the image. I had to start a thread here on BDW to get help on that one! Anywho, here's my document with our last names and phone numbers and stuff deleted...if you have any questions just ask!! I'll keep checking the thread or if you want to pm me that's fine too! - Darn, I tried to attach it and the forum is too slow to upload it right now. I'll try again in the morning if I have time before work...otherwise I'll do it this time tomorrow! Thanks so much for all your positive comments!! I hope they inspire someone else's!! Please show them to me if you give them a try and make them your own!! I'd love to see them! PS ...the monogram is printed twice on the bottom of the page because I used the other one (layered with brown and more turquoise) to make my tags for my favors.
  12. I love love love your BM dresses! Great choices for all the final touches. Beautiful pics!
  13. I ordered mine on ebay. They're perfect and becauser they're a wedge they shouldn't dig into the sand...let's hope!! I have really high arches and these are very comfortable! There is also foot jewelry that you can order that just decorates your foot like a sandal but you'd be barfoot on the sand.
  14. It took a while to get them done and sent out! We had a house fire over Christmas and all my invitation cardstock as well as my laptop with all the files for them were in the house so we had a huge delay. I had some inspiration from a few different knottie brides but I don't have a clue who they are...anywho, here are my invites that I'm sooooo proud of! We sent them in brown paper bag envelopes. I think they do a great job of setting the mood for out casual tropical wedding! What do yas think??

    Hello!

Congratulations and Welcome to the forum!! Happy Planning
  16. haha, I guess not very many people got video DVD's done??
  17. We got ours notarized too. FI had a certified copy from Barbados and I had my original Canadian birth certificate and we had no problem getting them copied with a notarized stamp thingy on it. Seems weird that you wouldn't be able to get it done...I'd say get a second opinoin! I'm sure someone will do it!
  18. Hi ladies, I know there must be something about this on here somewhere but I'm having no success with my searches. I think I've decided to get a video done by Photoshop and I've already booked Michael for my photographer. I'm reading the pricelist and I'm confused again and have a few questions and figured I'd get personal experience answers from you girls before I forward my questions to Photoshop. It says it costs $330 US for 1hr. When does the taping start? Do they edit the video? How long is the final copy of the video? They're asking for music on a CD..does that mean there's no sound on the video so we couldn't hear our vows during the ceremony? I definately want a video to play at our AHR but it would be kind of useless to have one where we can't hear our vows....wouldn't it?? Maybe I'm just not understanding!! That's very possible! Let me know your experiences with the videography for Photoshop!! Thanks!!
  19. Hi! and Congratulations!! You're definately in the most stressful part of planning a DW but don't worry it gets a lot easier after you decide and book a resort. We're flying out of Halifax and when we looked for prices DR, Cuba, Mexico and Jamaica were all pretty comparable. We're paying $200-$300 more than it would cost from Toronto but paying less than our guests flying out of Edmonton. Like the others said, a TA would help but you can always browse online...however, we did tons of that but until we got prices from our TA it was really hard to tell which we would go for. Happy Planning!

You get points here on BDW by posting on threads, starting your own thread, etc. It seems like it takes forever at first to get points but just keep reading threads and posting and you'll have enough in no time! Happy planning!
